Jim Hill discusses Disney's Jungle Trek

I don't have a problem with Disney doing this-- like another poster said, they are not marketing this to the average tourist coming through the turnstiles. But from reading this brief story, this does not appear to be worth anything close to $300 per person. We're a family who may (I repeat...

    Current crowd question??

We are leaving for our trip next Friday, and have some friends who arrived at WDW yesterday. Are there still typical summer crowds or are they starting to die down any? Can anyone see if there are any effects from the economy, etc.? Thanks for any input.

What's the best (and cheapest) way to buy park tickets?

Here's what we do to "maximize" our dollars. We live in Nebraska and basically plan two vacations at the same time. This year we will go during the 2nd week of August and buy annual passes, so this year's trip will be a little pricey. Next year we will go the 1st week of August, so our...

    Ticket prices going up?

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any business that warns people that it's going to raise prices-- certainly not the airlines, grocery stores, furniture stores, etc. I don't know why Disney should be different. I do remember a funny story from our trip to Disney about 10 years ago. We...

High Gas prices affecting WDW attendance?

There appears to be several very well informed posters on here. We are heading down there from August 8-15. Does anyone know if bookings are down for that time? Of course, oil prices have went down $10 in two days, so a continued drop could spur some people to go to WDW at the last minute...

Some things you might not know about Disney...

Here's one that may apply to a lot of us. Had I never been to Disney I would probably be a lot wealthier. Trip #15 comes next month.

    Eat to the Beat Concerts

I don't think there are any original members left of Jefferson Airplane. I believe Paul Kantner has a band called "Paul Kantner's Jefferson Airplane" something like that. Mickey Thomas has a tremendous voice and was the lead singer on "We built this city", "Jane", "Stranger", etc. I would...

    Your top 5 magical moments

    1) Watching my (at the time) 4 year old walking down Main St. with the large size Mickey I'd just purchased riding on his shoulders. He was beaming and people waiting for the parade could tell and were talking to him about it. He's almost 16 and 6'3" so it wouldn't be the same now. 2)...

YAY! We upgraded for the first time to a Deluxe

The above posters are right. You will love it so much it will be tough to go back. But don't worry-- just go ahead and enjoy it. We did what another poster said above; we fell in love with the Beach Club and the location and bought a timeshare there. Many happy wishes to you as well. Mark

how many more days for you? (continued)

Hey, we finally went below 200! Seems like forever at this point but it will be here before we no it. For all of you going before me, enjoy and keep the parks in good shape for me. Mark

I would buy into DVC if....

We love Dixie Landings and have stayed there 5 times over the years. We also recently bought a Beach Club timeshare resale via the Timeshare Store, which was very easy to do. That being said........ you can use your points to stay at any Disney hotel, including Dixie Landings (POR). The...

    Weather in parks in August

GenerationX is right-- parks early in the morning and in the evening. Go to a waterpark or DQ in the afternoon or take a nap/swim at your motel. The weather is hot all over the country but when you are at WDW you are out and about a lot more. We've been in August a couple of times and are...

    SM Closing for a Year?

I feel for all of you who have been banged around on it. I'm 6'5" and weigh only 195, but I can't even fit my legs under the bars and they ram into my thighs on every drop and turn. It hurts so bad I skipped the ride our last couple of trips. My 15 year old is now 6'2" and he said the last...

    Celebrity Spotting..

A few years ago we saw Kathy Ireland at MK. My wife didn't know who she was, but all my male friends were excited to hear my story when I returned to work. In a related matter (and I apologize for getting slightly off topic), Keanu Reeves was sitting in front of us at the Nebraska-USC game...

    Celebrities and YOU

About 10 years ago, we saw Kathy Ireland (oh my) walking onto the side entrance of Splash Mountain as we were exiting. I said to my wife, who does not follow celebrities at all "Karen, that was Kathy Ireland". "Who?" I said "Kathy Ireland--she's a Sports Illustrated swim..... um, she's the...

    Message Board Gripe

Did you ever hear the story about the person who loved roses? Whenever she saw a rose she would just sigh and wish someone would send them to her since she couldn't afford them. Then one day she became rich and retired, and decided to grow a rose garden. Her goal was to grow the perfect rose...

    hall of presidents

I'm guessing (regardless of any President's popularity) that if a new President was elected every 4 years instead of 8 like the last two, it would not see quite the dropoff. But once you've seen it, for most of us repeat customers there isn't much of a reason to go back unless it's really hot...

Disney Visa Credit Card: Who has it and do you like it?

Love the card. We use it to pay for everything, and pay it off every month so we never pay finance charges. We even put most of our bills on it automatically so we don't have to write many checks. Our house payment is the only regular check we write anymore. I don't even carry much cash. We...

    Is this possible?

It can be done by timing is sometimes the luck of the draw. Illuminations will end about 9:13pm every night. Be ready and make a bee-line for the monorail or even your car if you parked close. If the monorail is there, or you can drive it in a few minutes you should be at the MK by 10pm.

    August Ride Line Times/Waiting

We were there from August 6-13 in 2005 and July 31- August 6 in 2006 to maximize use of an annual pass. We found the crowds the 2nd week of August to be great. Yes, it is very hot and humid, but it usually is about anywhere in the good ol' USA at that time. It's just that you're out and about...
