    What did you do?

I haven't checked in over the last two weeks (not that anyone notices because I know I'm so new), but its just been lousy. I came down with what I thought was random run of the mill virus only it kept going and going - fever days on end. Ended up getting numerous tests - viral pneumonia and...

    What did you do?

I'm in the Boston area and man you were brave getting out there on Saturday. Heat index of 105 in some areas!

    What did you do?

We had some unexpected expenses that paycheck week so I had to put it off. I won't be able to indefinitely I'm sure. I ended up using an older more supportive pair, with inserts and I'm wearing compression sleeves to support my calves. I also got myself adjusted at the chiro and by the second...

    What did you do?

Outdoor 5k run through the cemetery. I was hoping some of you experienced runners can help me understand what's going on. This may sound silly, but since this is all so new to me. My fasted 5k treadmill time was 40:40 (just last week). Today on my run I used the Strava run app. It's saying...

    What did you do?

I've been gun shy to run outside again after hurting my knee on my first go. So I'm still trucking along on the treadmill. I do intend to re-try outdoor running, though. Anyway, today I did 3.1 mi at 40:40. I'm pretty proud of that time because I did 3.1 on Saturday with a time of 44:00 (course...

    What did you do?

Basically took time off from Thursday until today due to my knees and then hip being in a lot of pain. I was hobbling everywhere. I spent my "off" time swimming and lifting. I saw a Chiropractor on Saturday and Monday and today I ran pain free! Feeling so much better. I was able to run 1.75mi...

    What did you do?

I only did a mile today, BUT it was my first mile that I ran without stopping and clocked in at 12:45. I would have kept going, but my youngest was not feeling childcare at the gym today so I had to cut it short. I plan to go back in the evening.

    What did you do?

Over the weekend I swam and then did two miles. I slowed down on those two miles, but improved my overall pace as I was able to run more continuously. I went from 14:00 to 13:30. I'll take it! My knees have been in a lot of pain. Friday I get my new, properly fitted shoes. I can't wait. I still...

    Knees in pain

My knees are still not back to normal. Definitely better, but have a sensation of feeling slightly bruised. It's really bizarre. I'm also beginning to wonder if rapid changes in our weather are contributing to any of this. Makes me feel old! I actually got some biofreeze I'm going to try out for...

    Knees in pain

The shoes that I'm currently wearing are relatively new. I got them a few months ago. They're Nike Frees. On the spectrum of running shoes I have no idea where they sit. When I initially bought them, I had gotten them for general cross training. As my desire to run has taken over I've had to...

    What did you do?

Kind of sounds like what happens when you get into a car accident. You tighten up and end up with soreness all over your shoulders and arms.

You trooper you! How is it feeling now?

    Knees in pain

The only thing holding me back is money. I have to wait until the 5th, but I fully plan to do it then. I suppose until then it'll be back to the treadmill. Ariel, thank you for the tips! I just got my foam roller a few days ago. I do lift on my off days, but I'm sure it'll take a bit to...

    Knees in pain

Yesterday I ran outside for the first time. I've been doing most of my running on a treadmill (since the gym offers childcare). Yesterday evening and today my knees are in so much pain. This is brand new. Its inner and lower. I'm assuming and leaning in when I run. I plan on going to get fitted...

Is it possible to avoid characters at Disney?

From what I understand, exposure therapy can actually be really helpful for those with phobias. Perhaps you can push the trip off and work on that prior to it?

Having a hard time training in the heat?

So - newbie question sorry - I notice a lot of folks here commented on the idea of running on the treadmill being torture. Why is that? Is it just boring? Not challenging enough? Some combination of the two?

    What did you do?

Ran two miles this morning. This was my first time running out doors. Of course it was more of a walk, run, walk, run scenario. Still, I was proud of myself and pleased that it was a 14 min pace. Believe it or not, that is an improvement! Ah the victories of beginners. Small, but thrilling...

    Disneyworld attractions vs. Disneyland attractions

I grew up in Southern CA, and so sorely miss the facade of DLR's Haunted Mansion when I'm at WDW.

    What did you do?

Things have been slow going for me the last two days. I swam on Saturday for cross training and took Sunday off. Then Monday and today all four of my kids have been sick. This meant my youngest (5mo) was up round the clock. I can't bring them to daycare at the gym to run and I was too exhausted...
