What got me thinking about this was another poll, favorite extinct attraction. Although people miss Horizons, I personally think Mission Space was a good attraction upgrade (or at least not a huge downgrade). However an attraction like Alien Encounter might not have had all of the love in the world, but when SGE came in, AE was the best attraction since ever.

I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to Disneys past so I'm gonna need some posters to throw up what they think 1st before I throw up a poll and we get results. So far we've got....

Horizons -------> Mission Space
World of Motion -------> Test Track
Universe of Energy -------> Ellen's Energy Adventure
Timekeeper -------> Monster's Inc Laugh Floor
Alien Encounter -------> Stitch's Great Escape
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride -------> Peter Pan
Tarzan -------> Finding Nemo the Musical
WWtbaM -------> American Idol Experience
The Living Seas -------> Nemo and Friends
Food Rocks -------> Soarin

So which ride do you think has the biggest disparity from greatness to suckyness, post up anything else and we will soon find out.....

Those are anything but downgrades for me. Tarzan was dull and Food Rocks already killed what made Kitchen Kabaret special. Nemo is a great show and Soarin' is good fun too. I'd say I like Seas better now but the Epcot fanbois already hate me for that one.

Imagination was the worst by far. Tiki Room and Monsters Inc. were disapointing too.

What about 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea--------> Pooh's Playful Spot

What about 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea--------> Pooh's Playful Spot

I don't see a direct correlation here at all. 20K had been closed for what? 12 years before the lagoon was filled in. We all knew it wasn't coming back. I don't see the playground as a replacement.

AE to SGE, granted i missed some of the previous attractions before i first went to the world. I would have loved to have gone on 20k the concept does intrigue me.

AE to SGE in a heartbeat. I could never get enough of that alien walking on my shoulders (although I could never seem to get the bars to fit properly :p)

IMO:

Positive turnarounds: (either due to enjoying the attraction more, or that I never enjoyed the former attraction enough to care)

World of Motion -------> Test Track
Timekeeper -------> Monster's Inc Laugh Floor
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride -------> Pooh
Tarzan -------> Finding Nemo the Musical
Food Rocks -------> Soarin'
WWtbaM -------> Toy Story Mania

Neutral (complete indifference if either attraction was there, I probably wouldn't ride either):

Horizons -------> Mission Space
Universe of Energy -------> Ellen's Energy Adventure
The Living Seas -------> Nemo and Friends

Negative:

Alien Encounter -------> Stitch's Great Escape
20K ----------> Essentially emptiness

I put 20K in negative for the sheer fact that nothing is essentially in its space ... but IMO 20k was the definition of lame - sinking 3 feet to watch plastic fish still makes me chuckle - and anything in its place would turn it into a positive.

I'm going to stand by my feeling that AE to SGE wasn't that big of a downgrade because AE wasn't that great to begin with. The two that top my list are Mr. Toad-Pooh and JII-JIYI. Mr. Toad was a classic and much better than it's replacement. JIYI completely lacked imagination, which is what made the original so good. I loved Horizons and think that it was much better than Mission Space, but it's not a horrable downgrade like the two listed above.

I guess I'll do this too:

Positive turnarounds: (either due to enjoying the attraction more, or that I never enjoyed the former attraction enough to care)

World of Motion -------> Test Track
Timekeeper -------> Monster's Inc Laugh Floor
Food Rocks -------> Soarin'
WWtbaM -------> Toy Story Mania

The top tier were all good changes for the most part. I left Food Rocks up there only because Soarin' is a very cool attraction. In truth though, Food Rocks became the line for Soarin' and the actual attraction is in a different building built as an expansion to The Land. I would have been much happier if they built the line for Soarin' around Food Rocks, but whatever...

The neutral rides were never that good to begin with. I never saw either of the AK shows, so I wouldn't know about those. AE and SGE are both nothing special, but I do admit AE was better. The Living Seas was really lame in it's original form and Nemo is slightly better, but still nothing special.

The bottom group were simply bad. 20k being empty space just sucks. Hopefully that will change if The Little Mermaid comes here. Mr. Toad was a much better ride than Pooh and Horizons had so much more to it than Mission Space. Sure it's cool, but I would rather have Horizons any day over Mission Space.

My vote goes to 20K as well. They still haven't totally covered the area that it took up, only a small portion was used for Pooh's Playful Spot and Ariel's Grotto. Most of that land lies empty today. :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:

Easy enough.

Timekeeper is way better than MILF and SGE just sucks.
Timekeeper= Fun, entertaining show with amazing visuals, great soundtrack, impressive animatronics, and a fun story-line

MILF= Slow, not funny show which I avoid everytime I visit the Magic Kingdom

AE= Never rode it.

SGE= Do I really need to explain?

Ellen's Energy Adventure and The Seas With Nemo And Friends were the two best upgrades I have ever seen Disney do.

Universe Of Energy= Boring, 45 minute show with some cool parts but better for sleeping

Ellen's Energy Adventure= Hilarious, entertaining, 45 minute show with colorful dinosaurs and an amazing score by Bruce Broughton to boot.

The Living Seas= Overly educational, slow attraction with a slow, tedious pre-show and attraction.

The Seas With Nemo And Friends= Fun, colorful, entertaining yet educational attraction with stuff for the whole family.

UPDATED

I didn't add JII b/c it was a revamp, not an overhaul.

I didn't add 20K because there isn't an attraction there to compare it to. But if TLM goes in over there....

Sorry for the screw-ups. I missed two new attractions instead of missing the old ones :lol:
