What are you reading?

Just finished "Rasputin's Daughter" by Robert Alexander which is a fantastic read. I also recommend "The Kitchen Boy" by the same author.
If you are at all interested in the Romanovs - I would highly recommend both. They are fiction not non-fiction, but still wonderful stories based on this time in history.

Right now I am re-reading HP and the Half Blood Prince. I had read it when it first came out, then went to the movie recently. Decided I would read it again to see what all was missed since I couldn't really remember alot of it.

I'm glad this thread got revived... thanks Number6:)

I recently went to Australia and there's nothing like days of nothing but travel to get some solid reading done  I read The Alchemist, The Time Traveler's Wife and a Sookie Stackhouse novel...obviously wasn't in the mood for anything too heavy haha.

Right now I'm reading Tess of the d'Urbervilles. (I have this weird thing where I try to read anything Masterpiece Classic on PBS covers if I haven't read it already.) The Lovely Bones is on deck since I want to read it before the film comes out.

Right now it is "The Shack" by William P. Young. Very thought provoking. Can't say I have ever read anything quite like this.

I enjoyed The Alienist - read it years ago. I recently finished Atlas Shrugged and avariety of Science Fiction anthologies. Am currently reading PJ O'Rouke's interpretation of Adam Smith's The Wealth of Nations then will move on to a couple of books on my son's required reading lists for AP English and US History.

I am right in the middle of Deadhouse Gates by Steven Erikson...book two in the Malazan Book of the Fallen series.

My brother suggested the series after I got sick and tired of waiting for George R R Martin to even act like he was interested in finishing his Song of Fire and Ice series. It is pretty good so far...and I can look forward to a conclusion!!!

It's not so much keeping up (although it can make for interesting conversation) as much as reading books that I wouldn't ordinarily be interested in reading. I found that several that my daughter had to read were quite interesting. I also like to steer him towards other books that might have a valid counterpoint, so he can make his own decisions.

I completely agree.

I read it a year or so ago, and liked it.

I'm three-quarters of the way through Pat Conroy's latest, "South of Broad." I LOVE it!
Sounds good...I'll have to give it a try.
