So we're exactly 3 years away from WDW's 40th. When do they start prepping?

Now this would be interesting. Instead of just cutting off Ariel's hair, let's cut off her tail instead, and cleverly place her behind a piece of coral, so no one would even know it's gone! That should save a few dollars...:D

Don't be silly, we'd have to create a piece of coral if we did that...let's just throw in a TV with a copy of the movie playing!

Oh, ok. How about we just put anAriel 2x4 inch plush doll on a cardboard rock, with a stereo behind it playing "Part of Your World". Now we sit back and hope the kids are entertained.

NOW we're in business!

My only suggestion is to save time by using the recording already playing in PhilharMagic.

LP's Spirit of '74 made an interesting statement yesterday, and I quote:

"I would count on absolutely nothing of substance for WDW's 40th. Nothing."

First Spirit, now Jim, who is saying that projects slated originally for 2011-2012 (i.e. Mermaid, Fantasyland, et al.) are now more realistically in the 2014-2015 timeframe, that is if they are postponed and not cancelled.

He does claim the SM and HOP refurbs are still on track, but does not comment on the extent of the SM refurb.

That's 2 major online sources giving the same prediction within 3 days of each other. Is it at the point that we should not be holding our breath for a big WDW 40th and/or retaliation against Potter?

They are also two major online sources that are usually wrong about rumors.

To clarify a bit...

The stuff in Jim's article, with the exception of Little Mermaid, was not so much cancelled as not approved.
-Mermaid owns the 20K spot. It will happen at some point.
-The other stuff was part of a proposed makeover for Fantasyland, but due to the current economic troubles, was not approved or "greenlighted." Nothing previously approved has been cancelled.

Yet.

So there is still a chance we will see dirt movie within the next 8 months like you said?

Cancelled? Not at this stage. However, things have been going onto a `hold` list since late July.

Space Mountain wasn`t one of them. That has a different reason :fork:

For timing reasons....Or "otherwise"?:lookaroun

Do you think they stop their plans to build things later? If they already approved these plans...

I think I saw a thread round here where somebody (was it Lee?) told us about the number of tourists coming to Florida in 2009 being not that high, but I'm not too sure.
