So we're exactly 3 years away from WDW's 40th. When do they start prepping?

Oh, I believe EpcotServo believed that you meant in total, not just exclusives. That's the way that your original post sounds.

The "exclusives" make up the difference in the total number of rides/attractions between WDW and DLR.

I suppose you could create the list of all of the rides that exist both in WDW and DLR, but then you'd just have a huge list of rides that add to the bottom line.

Pirates, Small World, Soarin', HISTA, MuppetVision, Star Tours, Big Thunder, Tiki Room, Treehouse, Omnibus, Tom Sawyer Island, Tower of Terror, Autopia, Space Mountain, Dumbo, Tough To Be A Bug, etc., etc., etc. All of those rides exist in both WDW and DLR. Yeah, some are a bit different or have different facades, or have been rethemed in recent years, or are in totally different theme parks. But they are basically the same rides, and that list establishes the base point for both properties.

Then you add in the list of "exclusive" attractions, and you get the total number, as seen in this thread.

It's fascinating to see how close the two properties are to each other, isn't it? Even in major daily entertainment offerings like parades and spectaculars, things are very close and moving closer in Anaheim's favor in the next few years. I just find that fascinating.

Hm? What disaster of pooh?

It's generally accepted amongst the Great Disney Internet Fan Community that the Disneyland version of The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh that opened in 2003 did not turn out as artistically acceptable as the version in WDW that opened in 1999.

The average 5 year old isn't going to be able to tell much difference, aside from the very different look of the facades and ride vehicles. The ride times in WDW and DLR are identical at 3:10 minutes. But many Internet fans don't like how the Disneyland version of the ride was designed by WDI.

Here's the Wiki page that compares/contrasts the world's three similar Pooh attractions in Anaheim, Orlando and Hong Kong. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Many_Adventures_of_Winnie_the_Pooh_(attraction)

And let's not forget the amazing Tokyo-ness of Pooh:sohappy:!... ... :lookaroun ...

But I digress... so we know that Mermaid is coming to WDW and this new... area, land, ride, whatever, in DAK is coming. We are sure of that. Do we have any insight on any and/or all new rides in the parks besides these?

Are we 100% sure (or close to 100%) that the Little Mermaid ride is coming? I thought it was pushed back...

Anyways, I would like to see that rumored Monsters Inc. ride come to DHS. It would really help that park become a full-day park. Also, rehabs are needed on many rides. Good long rehabs, please! :)

generally accepted, eh? I'm not exactly sure I agree with that. As far as I know, most will agree that Winnie the pooh at DL is a good dark ride that is comparable to the Fantasyland rides. I think the sense of dislike comes from the fact that it replaced a beloved attraction from the early Walt days. There is a certain sense of resentment that comes along with that...

besides, nothing beats the exterior of the attraction. The outdoor setting is gorgeous.

Pooh in Tokyo is an entirely different animal. Simply an amazing ride, but can't be considered the same as the three little Pooh dark rides in the other parks. It's something different.

Are we sure about Little Mermaid? The only mention of that ride by Bog Iger or Jay Rasulo or anyone from WDI has been the Anaheim version for 2011. And the Internet rumor on the WDW version is growing dimmer by the day.

As far as I know, Disney has not announced anything for WDW beyond American Idol. Did I miss a press release somewhere about Little Mermaid?

Nope. The Disney company seems to be totally ignoring WDW. :(

I actually agree with you 100%. I was just trying to be gracious here because this is a WDW board and I didn't want to make it sound like the Disneyland version was just as good as the WDW version.

Personally, I've ridden both and find the interior sets to be the exact same set pieces just moved around inside the rooms a bit. Watching the YouTube versions of the two rides has confirmed it for me. The outdoor loading area in Disneyland is fabulous, as are all the outdoor loading areas at Disneyland that can be accomplished there because of the climate. The one thing WDW and Hong Kong are great at is the vehicle motion. The Disneyland vehicle motion is just pointless.

But I was trying to be nice and give WDW a pat on the back.

I agree, I have nothing against WDW's Pooh Ride either. I just think DL's pooh isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Same goes for DCA - it gets singled out as a horrible park by a select few. When people actually get to visit they find out it's not as horrible as they were led to believe it was.

Nope. The PR is usually the last part of the jigsaw.

Substantiated rumours in Paris say a Rattatouie (sp) dark ride is favourite for the next phase of Toontown in WDSP, using a 2nd generation LPS ride system as seen in Tokyos Poohs Honey Hunt. Not immiediate great news for Orlando, but it shows the concept that was never to be seen again isn`t totally dead.

So now 2 parks have trackless ride systems?

Hey WDW money-conserving peoples! Here are 2 rides you can clone and we won't have any problems with them! We even have room for them! (Pooh at 20K plot and Rat. in Pixar Place) Just don't cut things from them! O.K.?

A ratatouille ride in Pixar Place would be very nice. And that rumored Monsters Inc attraction would be great as well. Pixar Place could very easily become amazing if they gave it the love (and money) it deserves!

I'd say DL Resort in California needs the love and infusion of cash. Have you seen DCA??? At least there is Epcot as 2nd park in Florida. In comparison, DCA is a cheap joke.

That is good news for Paris. I've been on Tokyo's Pooh ride three times, and I'm always the most impressed with that amazing trackless ride system. It's just so entertaining to watch go through its paces in those big showrooms!

What I wonder about the future of Pixar Place is what the layout will be. With TSMM WDI have opted to keep the cramped footprint of Mickey Avenue. This alleyway seems to me to be an awkward way to enter what is supposed to be a major new section of the park. Also I wonder what the new showbuildings will look like. TSMM is made to look somewhat like the real Pixar Studios in Emeryville. But a whole collection of similar boxy buildings with red brick facades would look terribly dull. Finally I wonder if they even have a master plan for this area going forward, or whether they are simply seeing which corner they can fit in some new ride at the point it finally gets approved.

I've heard that Pixar Place has the possibility to expand into the backlot tour area. I hope that the Monsters Inc roller coaster gets approved/announced soon because DHS is going to need something to redeem itself after American Idol opens up... :(

I would LOVE a trackless ride in WDW, though I think it would work best thematically in the Imagination pavilion.

Martin, those food plans for the Skyway to Fantasyland building...they still happening or have they been cut?

Perhaps the PP as we know it is just the start. Things can be removed ;)

Technically there were already 4 - Epcot, MGM and TDS. Energy is a trackless system (the plates in the floor in theatre one are friction plates instead of carpet) and TGMR is a dumbed down version of Energys travelling theatre. Regarding the LPS system, TDS has two and the WDSP ride is proposed but no ground has been broken yet.

I don`t know now. It was part of a much bigger plan but given the current economy and way of thinking yadayadayada.....
