New Contemporary tower art

Huh.....not sure what to think about this one. It does look like a condo area though but I'm wondering if this will phase in other changes to the Contemporary Resort???

OK, I'm not quite thrilled about the location as many others feel. But I do think the building will be a class act. We now know that the AKL DVC Villas will be larger than the others (which have been shrinking for each resort) OKW has the laggest rooms and BC has the smallest. I'm not sure where SS stands in size, but AKL will be larger. So, I am hoping that the Contemporary DVC rooms will be larger also. "Hoping"
We'll see if this thing is actually built. Remember the Eagle Pines DVC resort that was even officially announced???
OK guys, let's just pick up the blinking building and place it next to the STOL port & run the monorail through it. Give it a different name also.

I like it but yet I dont. It looks better than the wings did. Maybe if they got rid of the cicular thing on the right side of the tower it would look a little better. Maybe they should have had the C facing the street instead of facing the water. I dont know if its physically possible because of how sturdy the land is and other kinds of fun stuff like that. Its ok, it could be a whole lot worse. And maybe the should make it a couple floors smaller. It would look cooler if it was smaller than the oringinal building.

I have to echo those who've said it looks like a giant parking garage. Ugh!

One other concern- This place looks huge and it must have a ton of rooms. I can imagine how its going to impact the capacity on the resort monorail during the busy season. Maybe there will have to be a re-think of the resort only/express setup?

There are way too amny questions here...as if the monorail system wasn't crowded enough already.

Just put this in a different spot and make it a new resort. It looks painfully out of place. If this is whata a big refurb to the Contemporary will look like, then I'm out. The main building is a classic, and should be left alone.

Build something to COMPLIMENT it, not some monstrosity just to please a low percentage of DVC members who can't see its ugly.:hurl:

Yes, but each to their own I guess.

Wow. I stand corrected. That is really good picture of the building. Talk about shedding some light on the thing.

Now I'm upset about the ugly new building!

BTW do we know what that thing is connecting the two buildings? Is it a skyway?

I think the design works very well in this case. It works so well I think this will sale at a faster rate than any of the DVC offerings before this.

:zipit: It dwarfs the Contemporary. I like the design and everything, but it just ruins the grandeur and size of the main building. I hope Disney know what they're doing... cos they aren't going to remove the new wing anytime soon.

It looks alright to me.
Its kinda like a new hairstyle when you first see it you freak but after a while you get used to it.
For people like me who have been to WDW since 1971 its really weird to see this massive building next to the Contemp but after a while (hopefully) it will look in place.

I'm sorry, but I think this photo is fake. I think somebody just saw the concept art on Screamscape, took some photos of real hotels (Some of Tokyo Disneyland's nearby hotels come to mind), and put it all together. It's just so poorly made, I find it hard to be real. I mean, you can see where they cut and pasted the walkway from the concept art into the background. Then they just sent it into Screamscape. It's such a poorly made picture, I can't trust it. It's not even the correct shape really. (At least as to how the viewer would see it.)

If it is real though, I'm against it. There's NO way you couldn't see that from inside the park other than Tomorrowland.

The picture almost looks like it was photoshopped. They took a real picture of the Contemporary Resort and just added the new artwork.

I guess it was so you could get a feel of what the building would be, but still.

I think it is cool that they're going to build a DVC at Contemporary. I bet they'll be real popular. :)

Alright. When I first heard of this, I thought to myself that the Contemporary was going to look so unbalanced... but then I thought "But It's Disney. Disney wouldn't do something like this, right?" When I saw this picture, I couldn't believe how Disney could let this happen. Can't at least ONE person see how out-of-place it's going to look? When I first saw the drawings, I said..." okay, it's all circular"...When I saw the aerial view, It looks just like one of those Hotels you see in California. Disney resorts look nothing like these. They're themed, and all uniquely built. I don't understand. The Contemporary is a resort of it's kind. It's my ultimate favorite Disney resort, and to just see this thing right next to it is going to make it look disgusting in my opinion. I just don't see how Disney could let this happen.
