New Contemporary tower art

With the C-shaped Building next to the A frame, the next logical step would be a giant "B" shaped building on the other side. Perhaps the entire alphabet around seven seas lagoon is in the long term plan...

LOL.. I guess then they could let the marketing people have a field day with their favorite sport: "re-branding"...

The Seven Seas Lagoon becomes the "ABC™ Lagoon," sponsored by the ABC Television Network, featuring our Contemporary Alphabet™ hotels, as well as the polynesian-themed, newly-branded "Lost"™ Resort -- and the beautifully ornate "Desperate Floridian Housewives"™ Resort and Spa, with its own wedding pavilion for their second/third/fourth marriages.

Just so you know, we just got back from WDW, bought more points in DVC, and for anybody interested they have a great deal going on for current members. I had asked our rep about the new DVC at the contemporary, the concept art is basically the same as he drew it but he said that the walkway to the monorail between the resorts will take you to the stop for the monorail, or the resort itself. But understand this is a rumor, but from what I saw of the picture it looks like that will be the same as our rep said.

I don't recall, but has Disney made any official statements regarding Contemporary DVC? AK Lodge DVC seems to be more out there, attention-wise, while Disney is keeping Contemporary DVC under the radar....are things as done a deal as we are to assume? Maybe certain things aren't set in stone just yet?

As far as I know, there has never been an announcement for the Contemporary. But remember Eagle Pines? Announced & Dead in the water. They even sent out the concept renderings to DVC members to solicit sales of additional points. I still have mine at home.
Now Animal Kingdom has been announced & construction actually bagan. So we'll see what happens next.
The whole idea of a DVC wing to an existing Hotel in the huge infrastructure savings. Utilities are already on site and other services can be shared. I do like the exclusivity (is this a real word?) of OKW though.

I dont want to be negative, but I dont really like it. It just does not fit in. If they really needed to expand why couldnt they design something that blended in with the original building a bit better? Like others have said, it just looks like a big condo to me.

I'm not a member...but loved OKW when we stayed there last year. :D

Didn't the Eagle Pines concept become Saratoga Springs?

No, Eagle Pines was supposed to be at the Eagle Pines/Osprey Ridge golf courses. That's now becoming the Four Seasons.

The Disney Institute became Saratoga Springs.

Yeah...but I believe theme-wise...the resorts are identical. And golf is still part of the equation at SS is it not?

Disney Institute was an actual resort/place/thing. They just tore parts down and rebuilt Saratoga. The main building is the Disney Institute building. On the back side, facing Downtown Disney on the lower level, is the check-in area for the Buena Vista golf course. It's been there since it was Disney Institute.

What an awful design...I honestly hope this is fake. It looks like many people said, a condo coplex built in Miami in 1985...there is contemporary for you.:hurl:

Hey all,

I agree with everyone this tower will ruin the site lines not just from the MK but around the Seven Seas Lagoon too......SO I actually am an Architect.....and I had a spare moment and came up with a different scheme which I always thought would work better for the CTR.......

If they are so keen on this semi-circular building why didnt they demo both of the old wings, then instead of 1 massive tower, split the thing in half and into various wings.....As you can see on the quick renders I did this would make a huge courtyard area which would be perfect for a flagship swimming area big enough to accommodate both the hotel and the DVC (im thinking Stormalong Bay X10!) they then could build 2 quiet pools at either wing which would face onto the beach and lake right there.....They could even combine regular rooms and DVC into the wings so that they will still have rooms that dont come with tower prices

Too be honest I really dont understand the logic of a single tower and not only that but the single tower is going to be bigger than the original hotel! hahah I hope Disney reconsiders the design but Im very doubtful

GENIUS! I'm not even gonna ask how you came up with this, but the design looks FANTASTIC!

The lower profile of the buildings makes that look a ton better. Much easier on the eyes than the original. Maybe you should mail that in.;)

BTW, how long did it take you to make that on CAD.

SpaceMountainUK -

Now, THAT is something I could live with!! I love how you designed that - everything down to the pools and how it's attached to the main building. It makes ME want to buy DVC points there. Too bad you don't work for Disney, because the architect that designed that other building $ucks!!
