Just flipped to NBC and saw a guy in a skeleton costume figure-skating to the Fantasmic recording of Night on Bald Mountain. Awesome.

I think I love you, for now I am not the only one that says 'weenie'.

I'm not a huge Sid the Kid fan.. I'm really not. I respect the fact that he's a good player, but if you can't take a hit, or the commentators are so excited that they p(ee) their pants when you get into a little scrap, you are NOT okay in my books.

Plus he's a whiner.

But I do love his Tims commercials :)

Agree here too...HUGE whiner! Plus, as a Red Wings fan, I am getting sick of seeing him in the Stanley Cup Finals every year against us! Now before any of you hockey fans jump in here and say it, yes, I realize we probably won't have to worry about that this year since it looks like we would be lucky to even MAKE the playoffs! :ROFLOL:

Same!

And I think I'm in LOVE with Lindsey Vonn...

Too bad she's married.:lol::p

After seeing those other falls I was holding my breath for her to make it to the end. Such a great competition!

Tonight was an awesome night for the Olympics in prime-time...snowboarding, downhill, speed skating. LOVE IT!

Even though he's not Canadian, I just have to say that watching Shaun White last night was amazing. Dare I say he's comparable to Tony Hawk in the late '80s ... what he's doing for snowboarding is tremendous!

And yay for Marianne St-Gelais for skating to silver!

He's got so much skill. But he's such a weenie. I really hate how he plays the game. Ovechkin, now that's a hockey player.:D

I thin it will be Canada vs. Russia for the gold.

Sid the Kid was a bit of a prima donna when we was new in the game. He was pretty thoroughly criticized for it, Cherry especially went aboard of him, and he has knocked it off. Ovechkin has lots of skill, but I can't stand the dirty side of his play. He is notorious for knee on knee hits which when others have done so in the past, he also head hunts a lot as well. I can think of three or four occasions over the last couple of seasons where he has gotten away with actions which would have, IMHO, resulted in suspensions. Playing the way he does will, I think sooner or later, someone is going to really nail him.

As for predicting the outcome, I saw an awful lot of chemsitry on the ice in their first game. It was like they had been playing together for months. I think someone is going to have to play very well indeed to derail our team this year.

Men's free skate tonight was great fun to watch. I also caught the ladies half-pipe final...shame to see the US girls hitting the edge of the pipe but great effort by all. :)

*is it Sunday yet?...men's hockey! woo!

Almost happened tonight, didn't it! That is what a hot goaltender can do to a team in a round-robin format like this.

GO CANADA GO!!!!!

Yep,

The Swiss are an interesting case, they are kind of in the middle between the elite teams, and the also rans, Norway et. al. The Slovaks are like that as well, look at their victory over Russia last night. Still our boys played well for 2 1/2 periods, very well in the overtime, and Sid pulled it out in the shootout.

Ryan Miller deserves a Congressional Medal of Honour! :sohappy:

[I guess my spelling gives me away... :lookaroun]

In reality, he played an outstanding game and Brodeur was mediocre. A well-deserved win for the U.S. team. Canada has their work cut out for them from here on in... If they can recover.
