Ryan Miller deserves a Congressional Medal of Honour! :sohappy:

[I guess my spelling gives me away... :lookaroun]

In reality, he played an outstanding game and Brodeur was mediocre. A well-deserved win for the U.S. team. Canada has their work cut out for them from here on in... If they can recover.

I see it as an opportunity for Canada to play an extra game and get more time to get their act together for the gold. From the start I kept asking myself if I even cared who won this one.

One of Russia and Canada won't medal. Pretty amazing to think about. Two gold medal favorites coming into the tourny and one won't even make it. Too bad.

GO USA.

My son and I were at Buffalo Wild Wings last night to watch a PPV, but they also had the hockey game on. You should have heard the crowd go nuts everytime Team USA scored or Ryan Miller stopped a difficult shot. Here in Buffalo, they are crazy for hockey, so it was really cool to watch a game with a bunch of people that were so into it.

I had no idea such an all-star team could CHOKE that bad.
The team didn't choke at all... The goalies were the story on both sides. Canada out-shot and out-played the US throughout the game, the Canadian goalie made some incredibly bad choices and Ryan Miller stood on his head in goal at the other end.

Should we meet again, I'd bet Luongo is in net for Canada and the entire game will be a lot different.

Our defense was not up to par, either. And regardless of the shots for/against, it didn't seem like they were putting tons of pressure on the US. I wasn't impressed with Brodeur, at all. This, however, was his game to win/lose. I'd be more than surprised if Luongo didn't play against Germany.

All that being said, Miller was stellar, absolutely shut them down.

Concerned about the game against Russia. Not a place we want to be in at all.

Means only one of the two "favourites" for Gold medal won't even make the medal round... I'm not exactly thrilled with the prospect.

This.

Excited about the Canada-US gold medal game for women, though.

Luuuuuuuuuuoooooo it is tonight, thank goodness! Brodeur is/was one of the best goalies of all-time, but I think we should have went and stayed with Luongo right from the start. He is the "present" and should be extra motivated to play well in front of his NHL home fans as well.

GO CANADA GO!!!!!

I won't even bother to predict who will win the tournament, anything can happen from here on in. I am so glad that Luongo will get his shot tonight.

A funny story, I was at my son's hockey game on Sunday past. They won the game 3-1 and will probably make the playoffs. Anyway with about 5 minutes left his team's bench started belting out, "Oh,Canada" All the parents of both teams that it was hilarious.

Personally I think they should have went with Fluery all the way.

HE's the future, and a Stanley Cup winning goalie.

Can't argue these facts, but I just feel Luongo is the better goalie (played on bad teams for too long) and he would have more to prove playing in front of his hometown fans. Plus, my last memory of Fleury in International play is him banking the puck off of our defenseman and back into our net to cost Canada the gold medal against the U.S. :lookaroun

As much as I cant stand Broduer and love to see him struggle, I can understand why he got the starting spot for Canada. Now they will throw Luongo in tonight, we will see how that goes. Broduer gave up 5 goals but I don't think it was all him, and I think his defense didn't help out at all.

I hope the USA can go all the way, but its tough to see Sweden going down. Hopefully Lundqvist can bring this type of play back to NY when he's done.

Now how about that curling???:D

As an avid curler I have always thought that if more people outside of Canada were exposed to it, it would be hugely popular. It's very addicting, lots of fun even if you are terrible at it, and a lot harder to do than it looks, or at least at an elite level.

One of the highlights of the Turin Games was that a very young Newfoundland team who had picked up one of the old curling legends won the Canadian qualification tournament which none of the experts foresaw, and ended up winning the Gold. The gold medal game was on a friday afternoon. All the schools in the province were closed so that the kids could go home and watch. The skip still lived at home at that time, and his parents place is one street over from us. Everyone on the street had made all kinds of snow sculptures for his arrival home, which I didn't see as it was 5 am or so. New streets in the subdivision were named after the five curlers and the coach. It was probably the biggest sporting story ever in this province.

Although I still don't get everything about the sport (even though I am Canadian), I have to admit to being swept up with "curling fever" these Olympics! I even have my wife, who is American, caught up watching it with me. It only took us a game or two to get into it too. The more you watch it, the more you will understand about the sport, that's for sure. After watching our men and women's team a few times, I already pretty much understand most of the key terms and how the scoring works. It actually can become VERY addicting to watch!!
