Sir, we can’t say THAT on a Disney Mic – a Feb 2012 TR!

a.k.a. The Adventures of Pascal TR

Intro:

Welcome everyone to my very first trip report! Ahh!!! All week, I’ve been trying to be good and wait to start on my TR until I got my lesson plans for school done (they’re all due tonight), but… since I’m currently at work and am at a place where I can’t do any work on my lessons until I’m out of the office, I figured that posting the beginnings would be a good idea! As you may have read in my Pre Trip Report, this trip has definitely been a long time coming… a 4 year wait for me in fact! I was told that if I didn’t write my trip report for this trip, I would be “disowned, unfollowed, and shunned”… thanks for that one Kenzie! :p

In the midst of the trip, we got to celebrate both of our birthdays and Valentine’s Day, so it was a magical experience indeed.

So without further ado:

The cast:

There’s me, Courtney, who turns 23 tomorrow (AHHHH!) and this was my 19th trip to the World… and then there’s my wonderful BF, Dan, who turned 23 the day before our trip (Feb 12) and who is lucky enough (or not) to spend his first WDW visit with me!

There was a third member of our cast as well… a mischief stowaway by the name of Pascal!

The dates: February 13 through February 17, 2012

The resort: Pop Century

All packed!

Waiting

IMG_1151.jpg

Our wait was 5 minutes… made up for the long wait the night before!
Dan looking over the menu

IMG_1153.jpg

Pascal decided he needed to help Dan decide (Dan doesn’t look like he likes Pascal’s suggestion)

IMG_1154.jpg

Back to the drinking!!!!

My drink: Mt. Fuji (DELICIOUS)

IMG_1156.jpg

Dan’s drink: Ninja (it had Saki in it… gross)

Umbrella!!!

IMG_1158.jpg

This was our chef… I never caught her name, but she enjoyed Dan quite a bit since he started speaking Japanese back to her (I swear he knows too many languages).

FOOD

Rice

IMG_1185.jpg

Dan ended up getting the swordfish, and I got the chicken (I wish I got chicken and shrimp looking back).

IMG_1187.jpg

We ate with a family that’s from 20 minutes away from us at home… made for some great conversation during our meal!

Assessment: Teppan Edo was alright, but I’d much rather go to our local Hibachi… I like the fried rice up here a lot better (they use cola to make it, yummm), and our servers here interact a bit more, which is weird when you think about it. But I’m glad we did it, gives us an X on our food spreadsheet we’re making (yes! I got him to help me make a spreadsheet! Wooooo!). But, that’s just me.

For dessert, they came out singing happy birthday and gave us these awesome hats.

When we got back outside, surprise surprise… Dan had a voicemail. His mom called for the first time during our trip, so he had to call her back. I took advantage to take some pictures.

I found him!

IMG_1205.jpg

(Really weird and random… as soon as I finished writing about Japan whilst in class, my teacher started to talk about Japan and how their democratic state started. Go figure!)

Next, we stopped by America… we decided we didn’t need to get anything to drink here because, well, we do enough American drinking at home. (and now my teacher’s talking about American beer… he must know what I’m writing about )

But… we did stop at the cart to look for pins for both me and Mike. I had decided in MK that I wanted a Pascal pin if we could find one. We never did until we hit this cart.

Present from Dan!

Next stop…

IMG_1209.jpg

Dan takes Italian at school, so he was looking forward to getting to Italy while we were here (he wanted to talk to someone). Before I let him go introduce himself, we wandered over to the fountain and decided we needed to make a wish (or three in Dan’s case).

IMG_1212.jpg

IMG_1215.jpg

Alcohol time! My favorite wine… Asti! We have this every time we have a family dinner at Dan’s place, so I was really excited when I saw it. Dan refused to let me order, or pay, at all because he wanted to talk in Italian. Not gonna lie, as much as I’m like “stop being cultured, you make me look bad” yadda yadda, it was kinda hot listening to him speak Italian. But that could be because I’m Italian. Hmm.

IMG_1218.jpg

We decided to go sit down to drink our wine for a bit, so we took some pictures as well

IMG_1220.jpg

Pascal’s coming for me! Oh no!

IMG_1222.jpg

Oh well, I have my Asti to keep me company.

IMG_1223.jpg

Next stop: Germany!

IMG_1225.jpg

My hat broke by this point (and I wanted to show off my tiara, not my hat), so Pascal made himself a home.

My favorite alcohol…. Jager!

IMG_1229.jpg

Dan had the Radeberger Pilsner… no, I didn’t get a picture. But then we went shopping for a little bit cuz Dan wanted to look around.
Well what next is there to do, since we have time until Illuminations? “We haven’t done Mission: Space yet.” Yeah… great idea, Dan. Get on the one ride they had to dull down, AFTER we’ve been drinking all day!

So we walked over there… because I decided I wanted to see if we could do it haha.

Picture I took on the way there while Dan was in the bathroom (I’m sensing a pattern here)

IMG_1230.jpg

We ended up getting on Green to be on the safe side, and then chatted up with the guy in the store afterwards. And then, we had a phonecall from Goofy to tell us happy birthday! Dunno how he found out, since he hadn’t even gotten to meet us yet? Hmmm….

The crowd for Illuminations

IMG_1232.jpg

Illuminations is my FAVORITE fireworks show, and I’m very proud to say that I did not cry (not so proud to say I didn’t get any pictures… stupid camera was dying again!). it was so exciting to share my favorite show with Dan, seeing as telling him about Illuminations during the 4th of July fireworks was the reason we started dating anyways. At one point, I looked up at Dan to find him wiping his eyes. I tried to tell him that he should say it was from the fire, since we were right by a lamp… but he said he didn’t want to lie about it. Billion points to that boy right then and there!

While the park closed right after the show, we decided not to end our night right then, and jumped on the boat to head towards the Boardwalk. We started to talk to the couple next to us, only to find out… they’re from Delaware! Every time I go to Delaware, I never fail to meet someone from here, it’s insane! So much for us being the second smallest state and what not (especially since most people think Delaware is in Pennsylvania). They were really nice, and were going to go meet us at Jelly Rolls, but we didn’t stay too long at the bar.

Before we went over, we decided to do a little shopping in one of the stores, and Dan got his brother and some friends from work presents. But, dueling pianos are my FAVORITE types of bars. I love it. There’s apparently one in Philly, so we need to head up there to enjoy ourselves.

IMG_1236.jpg

Pascal’s on the wall!!!!

IMG_1237.jpg

Ok, story time. While we were at Jelly Rolls, there was a couple of men in the front row that were Austrian (I think, I don’t remember exactly what their nationality was to tell the truth by now). One of the pianists had done a shout out to the duo, and they had responded in their language (which the pianist apparently knew)… without missing a beat, the pianist shot back with a “Sir, we can’t say THAT on a Disney mic!” We were rolling in our seats laughing. :ROFLOL:

And, no, we never got a drink at the bar besides water. We decided that we needed to take a break that night for once (something we never decide at home… must have been our wallets talking).

A little after the pianist declared against saying certain things on mics, and Dan and I deciding that had to be the TR name because it was such an amazing quote, we decided to make our way back to Pop to get some sleep and get ready for the next day.

We hopped on the bus to DTD, and as soon as we got off our bus, there was a bus for Pop pulling up. What timing! After this, we did our normal go to room and go to sleep… we had a big day at the movies ahead.

Next up... DHS, a free meal, and our last night.

So you're going to laugh at me, because after I read through your entire update and went to post, I totally forgot what I wanted to say because of all the awesomeness of the report. I went to get a piece of paper, went back through the whole thing and wrote down notes on what I wanted to say hahaha so he we go! :)

I love the creepy guy behind you in your first picture of the update at POP hahahaha

And I agree with POP food court...always so packed, we learned to get up and go to breakfast early like 7/715 (yes I went to breakfast quite a few times in my pjs lol) and then go back up change and head to the parks, it was worth it getting up early and beating the crowds, it gets supa crazy!!!!! (I wish they had some sort of wacked out smiley to insert here)

I loooooove Sum of all Thrills (it is my dream to design rollercoasters!!! and rides for Disney lol) that is so much fun!

And Test Track is one of my favorites over at EPCOT, and you guys should have made funny faces on that photopass pic before you "hit" the wall! And your favorite pic of you and Dan on test track is my favorite pic too! :) Also, tell Dan he looks stylin' in that car! :)

I miss the Flower and Garden festival too! It is definitely one of the most beautiful times at EPCOT, definitely want to go back there for that sometime!

And now that you tried the Orange Slush, you need to have the Grey Goose one instead next time!! That one is sooo much better!!!!!!! :slurp:

And is it just me or did Belle have a strange face?? Is it bad I criticize face characters faces??? I loved Aladdin and Jasmine though :)

I want to try that Mt. Fuji :slurp: just because it looks pretty and you said it's good haha

THE END.

Your EPCOT pictures really make me want to be there, like, right now! I like a lot of the angles you chose, especially in Morocco.

That is too funny that the characters had a game of "tag" going on. Very cute.

I couldn't help but laugh when you were talking about taking picture while Dan was using the facilities. That happens to me at least once on every single trip, except *I'm* the one who my husband has to wait for.

Yay!!! Now we know when that awesome line was said! :sohappy: Too funny!

Awwww you guys are TOO CUTE!

Apparently all the photopass photographers thought so too, considering they always make you kiss and look at each other lovingly..

EPCOT day sounds like it was a hit! I love how much you guys did - I want to try Teppan Edo but everyone seems to have the same review of the place.. cool to do once, but not really a "going back" kinda thing. Andrew said he ate there when they went (grade 9? or 10?) and he wouldn't go back - but there's a place here that he'd take me to. WAH SOMEONE COOK ME FOOD RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME.

I laughed when I read that Dan wanted to be Aladdin at the parks - who wouldn't, you're always with scantily clad Jasmine, who has a great track record for being attractive. I'd say she's the one that's always the babe-est (with Cinder or Aurora having the most variance) - or Ariel. Ariel's usually a hottie.

Also, Pascal is getting aaaaaround.

Um, Illuminations story gets a 10/10 - gotta love it when you're not the only one that gets teary! Illuminations doesn't really do it for me (make me cry) but Wishes during the "Go The Distance" music? Maysell just sedate me on the spot.

TOWER PLEASE.

Yea!!!

I KNOW I'm not the only one waiting for that line!

I really wish I knew what the guys were saying that caused that line.

I love that you went back and wrote everything down... I usually hit the multi-quote thing when I do TRs, and then have to reread and look at pictures to try to remember what I was gonna say!

Creepy guys always make me laugh in pictures. Actually people behind in pictures in general do. You should see some of the ones from last year's Uni trip....

Pop was a disaster zone... and me up at 7? Didn't you read what I wrote... it took until 7:30 every morning for me to become even a least bit coherent!

SoaT was seriously the best find we had the whole trip... though if I knew about those pearls in Japan, that probs would have beat it haha.

Wait til you see some Tower pictures for funny ones! And he does, he needs to own that car. Now. And lots of money. Pronto. ;)

And yeah, Belle's face kinda really bothered me a LOT when we were in line and met her... I even said something about it to Dan before we walked up to her. But her personality was spot on... we were joking about how I needed to take Dan to her library and teach him to read like she did with the Beast so that Dan wouldn't end up like Gaston looking for pictures.

I think their tag game made our experiences with them 100 times better to be honest. Especially for Dan, he thought it was a riot... probably our best interactions we had the whole trip (aside from Stitch, but we haven't gotten there yet..... :lookaroun).

I think I was finally starting to feel comfortable with my new camera by that point... though now I feel like I need to learn how to edit them to get them as sharp as they looked when taking (editing is more of Dan's department than mine).

As soon as the pianist said that, Dan just looked at me and went "TR title."

I felt so awkward when they'd be like "look at each other all lovey," because we both just wanted to make faces! I think faces would have been much more us.

Seeing as this is more like us (regardless of it being taken a year prior to dating...)
72570_1433494192642_1091520032_30995591_6861057_n.jpg

Pretty sure he also said he wouldn't mind being Flynn as well... I know he said another face guy when he said Aladdin. It was like "I wouldn't mind being Aladdin, or Flynn, or any of the face characters. Interacting is way too fun." He's totally understanding of my desire to work in Disney now! How exciting!

Pascal tended to get more attention and made friends (and try to fall to his death out of fright) during the latter parts of our trip... he was just shy at the beginning.

If you thought the Illuminations story was a 10, wait for the next night. That's all I'm sayin'.

Don't worry, lots and lots of Tower love coming! I'm pretty sure half of my pictures I took were of Tower actually... :lookaroun

It's true, I always seem to run into PA people while I'm there... but to run into DE people just makes me shake my head (it's worse when you run into people you know, which didn't happen this trip for once!).

Though, we saw lots of Philly gear out while we were down there and we both joked that we forgot all of our sports shirts at home. oops.

Hello, Courtney!

Just now getting the chance to check in with your fab-o trip report. I'm pretty sure that the "successfully-convincing-my-better-half-to-love-Disney" reports are my absolute FAVORITE to read. Seeing as how that was the name of the game back when Brett and I first started dating (only I was the newbie!), it shouldn't be much of a surprise. Disney is most definitely for lovers! My heart skipped a beat for you when Dan started talking about where you would stay on your "next trip" on Day 1. I'm sure you were giddy with excitement and chalking this trip up to a success right then and there!

Love the Pascal love - he joined our "tree collection" on our most recent February trip!

And I laughed out loud at your "glimpse into the future" picture with Dan driving the bada$$ car and you sporting your princess tiara. Rock on with your cute selves!!

Yay you have Pascal on your tree! :sohappy: That's so exciting.

And I feel like we talk about Disney every day now... before the trip, he would tune me out (you know, the nodding of the head and "uh-huh"s) when I would talk, and now he's starting the conversations. Must be love! <3

And I'm so excited... I took a mirror shot on the next day that's coming for you!

I'm loving this TR! We will be staying at Pop for the first time in May, so I've enjoyed looking at all of your pictures of the resort. Looking forward to reading more!
