RnR testing queue-less system that Dumbo's going to use

Personally, I guess I'm odd and I would rather wait in a well themed queue and have suspense build toward riding. I think there are certain situations where something like this could work (Dumbo being a perfect example), but for the big headliners, I would hope that detailed queues are still the way they choose to go.

I do too!

Queues like Spidey and EE come to mind...

I'll feel bad for the CMs who have to deal with people that miss their appointed time. Of course they yell loud enough I'm sure the CMs will escort them to the front of the line.

I also think this means the ToT queue will have more people in it if there's assigned return times for RnRC......

So true, but I hope thats not the case. It would be better if they had a beeper in the card they give you like they have at some restuarants. I know I wouldnt want to have to wait in the courtyard and I wouldnt regardless. And I hope it doesnt screw up the ToT line. Great idea tho, esp for rrc seems like it will help enhance the theme. But I know I wouldnt be millin around the courtyard waitin for my ride time. Id be on ToT.

Umm wow this will be confusing to some guests… Do FP people have to do this process to?
But the RNRC line is really long. Hopefully this new process could help?…
Why are they doing this system!?!?!

Mediocre idea, awful planning and dreadful execution.

Again.

I think so too...of all of the attractions that could use this, RnRc wasn't one I was thinking of.

At least it's wintertime when they decided this, so being outdoors isn't quite as bad.

However the Dumbo idea sounds much more feasible and I don't think anyone should be criticising it already

How about a Kimpossible type of system where you play interactive games on the "beeper" while waiting. Could have trivia and interesting tidbits of info as well. A GPS system in each phone, most have capability already, could prompt you to look for or at certain things while waiting. Would work nicely for Star Tours and Mission Space. Could also have a few quick commercial type of advertisements, in a subtle Disney way, to bring in some extra profit.

for all those that say this doesn't fit with RnRC's theme and story, remember that you're in front of a big name recording studio in Cali. JUST as a gigantic concert is about to go on. I've seen a bunch of people (at least here in NY) hold "tailgate" parties in front of concerts to appease those who'd been shut out of tickets. This makes perfect sense in story aspect, at least, with the whole ticketing your queue entry and everything else. The only way I can see this work is if they have T.V.s in the Gift Shop as well as in the "tailgate area". Personally, I don't think it'll matter that people from all language backgrounds will come; the color and symbol that matches with yours will be easy and quick to look at.

I just feel bad for the attraction CMs and those who have countless questions.

Except in RNRC you are not at the concert venue. The whole point of the ride is getting you to the concert venue.

But again, this will not be permanent, so it's no big deal.

True... I hadn't really thought of that. Oh well. It's over. I think they should test this at someplace like Pooh or Test Track.

Personally, I think a GREAT place to test this would be Soarin'. The land gives you a lot of opportunities to entertain yourself, and instead of leaving an area around Soarin' the area could be the entire pavilion. Just throw up the now boarding screen around the inside, and there you go.

Totally agree. For Dumbo i guess I can understand, because the people in line are small children and agitated parents. But for a ride like RNR, and most other rides in the World, this is an unecessary overcomplication. Just suck it up and wait in line. People are becoming so spoiled with their iphones and twitter and such that they can't stand around without being entertained for two seconds. Would it kill people to just stand around and talk to their family for a while? This is just stupid.

I think "stupid" is a little harsh. If they can improve upon the experience of waiting in line then why not try? Isn't that what sets Disney apart from other theme parks?

Just for the record I do enjoy talking to my family, I don't own an iPhone, and I don't have a Twitter account. However I don't enjoy standing on line in the Florida heat, shoulder-to-shoulder with other fragrant tourists. If Disney wants to try to make this a better experience, they can test to their hearts content.

Yes, this system may be a little over complicated and there are a lot of bugs to be worked out, but that's why they have tests.

The test makes some sense. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster provided you with that secluded area where they can hold guests so that they're not in a line.

All this is waiting for the attraction in a different manner. Instead of lining up traditionally, you're being called like you would at a restaurant.

"Party A6 of 32... your limo is ready."

This wouldn't be too difficult to apply to existing queues, even things like Everest or Soarin'. Just gut the railings/switchback areas. You can wait in the area that was once the switchbacks, and when they call your group you can get ready to board.

The problem that I see is that there still needs to be about a 5-10 minute line so as not to destroy capacity. With a standard queue line, you've got a continuous flow of guests. With this test, you run the possibility of not having enough guests inside the building to fill every vehicle, meanwhile other guests that are technically, "in line" but are waiting outside just had time added to their wait.

The other question I have is about the Fastpass machines. I'm curious to see if Disney bothered to link the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror machines. When they were running the centralized fastpass machines at the Animal Kingdom, you could get a fastpass for Kilimanjaro Safaris, Expedition Everest, and Dinosaur all at the same time.
