Photo Pass at Disney World

I was under the impression that the photopass photographers were only at the entrances to each park....they are other places also?

We talked to a photopass person. When we were there 2 years ago there weren't a ton of them and the castmember told us they had 80 back then and now they have 800. I think 800 sounds like alot but you have to think that walking down main street this year I saw 5 right in a row in front of the castle, so imagine all over all of the parks ad also the various shifts being covered. At any one time thought I'd say there are 300-400 in all the parks combined.

We got a Photobook last year & it was awesome. Even more so because my digital camera broke the day we got there. Without the Photopass book, I would have had nothing. :)

What i did was just hand the Photopass people my camera to take a picture with as well, that way I don't have to pay a completely unreasonable price for photos, I also hand them a photopass card that way they/I don't feel like I'm scamming the system. I haven't bothered with the photomovie thing, it doesn't seem like it is worth the 40 or so dollars. The disc to get your photos is not worth the $125.

I'd say it is worth it but purely depending on the amount of pics you have taken. With there only being two of us we got the photographer to take ones of us together which was nice as the quality of them are fantastic. We got about 150-170 pics put on our cd which, considering the cost to get them printed in the parks, was defo worth it. Once back home we got some of the best printed & framed, the family chose ones they liked (which are going to go in their xmas boxes :animwink: !) aswell as keepin them all on the laptop for those days you want a bit of disney love :) !!!

So how does it work if you prepay the disc? When you are at the end of your trip and you go to "cash in" your card (for lack of a better word), it's already flagged in the system that you prepaid it for 25 bucks less, and you get the disc at that time?

If someone posted this already, I must have missed it, but what are the prices for the book and the movie that everyone is talking about? And do you have to first buy the disc in order to buy the book or movie?

I guess it is worth it if you take that many photos, but can you upload some of your photos to the disc? Or can you only have the ones that they take? I can not see myself having more than 25 pictures taken by the photopass.

You'd be very surprised! We were when we found out how many we had. Keep in mind that each photopass person takes about 3 pics of you, so if you stop 4 times you already have a dozen. AAnd they aren't all the same, for example at Nemo we are sitting by the fish smiling, and making fishy faces, and my wife kissing me, and me kissing Nemo.
Also got one funny dud photo by the castle where the photopass guy was fixing his camera for like 10 minutes and getting ed doing it. This made us mad and it got to the point like we already waited this long we're getting this nighttime castle pic. We're standing there posing and people keep trying to get in front of us and give their card to the guy and cut us off. To make a long story short, we're really ticked off and it shows and the photopass guy snaps our shot.....and we're standing there all angry and annoyed looking. That is what I used to start my magic Kingdom chapter on my movie disk.

If you have a group that will be splitting up while in the parks, is it possible to to have several photo pass cards that go to the same "account" (don't know exactly what to call it) so that we can have all the pictures for the group on one cd?

To "redeem" the prepaid thing for the Photopass CD: When you prepurchase they give you a coupon code thing via email. When you get home from your trip, get your pics ready, and order the CD online at checkout there will be a place for you to enter your coupon code. That's when the price of the CD will be taken off your shopping cart.

I don't think you have to order the CD to order the photo book or the photo movie. I've never done either one but I can see them both as possibilities for our December trip.

Yes, you can combine multiple photopass cards onto one account meshing them all into one cd for people who split up their parties. I've done this before. You just have to go thru the account setup stuff and keep adding the cards.

Again, you can upload your own vacation pics to your account and have them included in your photo cd/book/movie. I'm sure at some point there is a limit due to storage amounts on the cd but I think if you picked the cream-of-the-crop to upload you'd be okay.

I have never heard about this. Can someone please explain. Thanks.

It's a new thing. For $125 you can go to the Grand Floridian and do a 1 hour professional photo shoot, and they'll take all the pictures from the shoot PLUS all the pictures from your photopasses and put them all on a CD.

did I understand the website correct to say that you can use your own pics for the photobook?? Is that possible for the CD too?? Its very tempting because with just me and my fiance going, its going to be hard to have alot of pics with both of us in it.

You can use your own pictures for the photobook and the photomovie. However, you really wouldn't want to use your own pictures for the cd, because you can just get home and burn your own pictures to a cd for free. The cd is so that you can own the photopass pictures and print copies of them yourself without having to pay 12 dollars for each one.

I forgot to add, that if you are taking pictures with the characters or anything, the cm will take a picture with your own camera in addition to you getting a photopass taken, there is usually an extra cm around that will do this for you. That way both you and your fiance can be in some of your own pictures.

.... I hardly call photopass "professional"..... Youre a better photographer then most of them.

Heh...thanks...but I can't really snap a photo of myself. Gotta resort to using them photopassers now and then if I wanna look like I went on my own vacation.

Oye, the misconceptions. Allow me to clarify....LONG POST

Second, when do you buy yours there in the park or weight till you get home.
was worried if something went wrong you might lose all the photos you had taken if you waited till you got home to buy it.

Your photos stay assigned to your card for 30 days. They won't get lost. Just write down the number of the card when you receive it and if you lose your card, we can always find your photos with the number.

If you buy the CD at the parks, you get all the photos taken. They will be unedited and undecorated. If you buy the CD online, you can edit and decorate the photos and your CD will come with both the original photos and the decorated ones.

I'm a photopass photographer,
and you can put the test track photo on there...but not any other rides that I'm aware of.

Hello fellow Photopass Photographer:wave: . Just to clarify, the water parks ride photos are done by photopass as well. The joy of photopass ride photos is that you can collect all the photos from the whole trip and then pick the best one.

Is there a way to get meal photo's on the CD? I noticed on my last trip there were index numbers on the pics (sorry if that is a little vague, but I do not have one with me). That would be great to have the originals since we always seem to get these pics too. Thanks

Absolutely that is possible. Just stop by a camera center at any park and bring the number that is on the photo with you. We will add it to your photopass and if you want the CD it will go on the CD. If you just want to share them online for free, you can do that as well. If you don't want the CD but you want to buy more photos you can do that also.

The funniest part is the photopass photographers who try to make it their business to tell entertainment greeters how to do their jobs....

Characters, Greeters and Photographers are all a team. We have even had brand new special training to remind us of how we are a team. We all have roles assigned to us, but are instructed to help each other out whenever possible. The characters and the photographers seem to be embracing the new system. The attendants seem to be ignoring it unless they were already doing it before.

I got my packet in the mail yesterday and had a free photopass...is this the samething you guys are talking about?? I took it to be a free picture at one of the parks. Can someone help clarify this?

You received a coupon for a free 5x7. The first day of your vacation, find a photopass photographer and have a photo taken. Take the card they give you to all the parks your entire vacation. Have as many photos taken as possible. As PhotoDave has pointed out, not all photographers are of the same quality (although most are great) and camera issues do arise. At the end of your trip stop by the camera center at any park and look at all your photos from the whole trip. Pick your favorite and that will be your free one.

I upset them during Piratres and Princess by taking my own pictures (sadly a corrupted card has left me with one shot and Jacks eyes are shut.
However I was on my best behaviour and resisted the temptation to point out that the flash meter would be more accurate if used properly.

At least they are stretching beyond the boring firing squad pose that seems compulsory.

I'm pretty sure no one was upset by you taking your own photos. We accept it and welcome it as a good back up in case there are camera issues with our cameras.

As for the exposure, we have to go with a general setting for a variety of situations, including Jack moving out of the best possible spot for a photo...go figure...you can't control Jack. And you can't ask each family to wait while you do a new metering. Shoot, I barely have time to hand over the photopass card before I've missed the first shot of the family seeing a character.

The CD has video from all over the themed area of each chapter, ......

The CD has none of this. The Photo Movie does.

And do you have to first buy the disc in order to buy the book or movie?

No you don't. For the book and the movie, you use the photos on your photopass card as well as your own photos that you upload to the site. For the CD it is just the photopass photos.

I guess it is worth it if you take that many photos, but can you upload some of your photos to the disc? Or can you only have the ones that they take? I can not see myself having more than 25 pictures taken by the photopass.

Only Photopass photos go on the CD. However, you would be surprised at how many photos will get taken. For example: 1 photographer at each icon of each park = 12 photos. Head to Toon Town and wait in one line for 3 characters = 15 photos. Ride Crush and Gusher 3 times = 9 photos. Ride Test Track twice = 2 photos. You see how it adds up. And that is only doing the bare minimum. At any time you see a photographer you can grab them and say: I like the flowers on this bush here. Please take a photo of my girlfriend and I kissing in front of the bush.

If you have a group that will be splitting up while in the parks, is it possible to to have several photo pass cards that go to the same "account" (don't know exactly what to call it) so that we can have all the pictures for the group on one cd?

Yes. You can combine multiple photopasses on to one card, or you can type a number of photopass numbers on the internet. For example, everytime you ride Crush and Gusher you get a new photopass. People combine 10 photopasses on to one card at the end of the day.

It's a new thing. For $125 you can go to the Grand Floridian and do a 1 hour professional photo shoot, and they'll take all the pictures from the shoot PLUS all the pictures from your photopasses and put them all on a CD.

That is almost correct. You can just pay $49 and have the photo shoot and then they will put the photos on a photopass for you. If you want to buy the CD later you can. Or you can do as you suggested and just buy the CD and get the photo shoot for free...I think. It is a new thing and I've forgotten all the details.

If you are a good photographer and have a good camera, perhaps photopass isn't for you. But 50% of the people that come into the parks come with disposable cameras. A photopass CD is cheaper than buying all those cameras and having all those photos developed and the quality with disposable will suck. And those with digital cameras don't often take good photos. I know because I see them lining the shot up on their screen (heads in the middle of the frame/zoomed too far out or too close). And most point and shoots can't capture a split second moment like a spontaneous hug or kiss with a character. The flash is too busy recharging. I capture that and I always hear mom say "I missed that." 10% of the time I see a family that knows how to take photos. And even in those cases, sometimes dad gets the magic photo and sometimes I do. And the worst thing is to hear that someone accidently erased their memory card and lost all the vacations photos. If no other reason than that, photopass is a good back up.

How can you get your pictures ready when you don't even have the CD yet? I thought you had to get the CD in order to get the pictures.

Just to clarify, are CM's available to take photos at all restaraunts or just Character restaraunts?

What about the mini-golf places?

And one more question. We're hoping to meet up with another poster and his wife on our April trip. Say someone takes a group picture of the 4 of us. Before taking the picture, is there a way for the CM to scan both photopass cards so that the picture will go onto each person's photopass account? Or do they just have to take two sets of pictures, one for each couple?

Thanks for clarifying that all up. In your response to my part, I only had 17 photopass pictures taken throughout my whole trip. But half the time I only gave the photographer my camera so i guess you are right on that part. All of the pictures that they took are great and I am considering uploading some of my better ones for the photobook along with the ones that they took. When it comes to the quoted part of your post, I am lucky enough to have a good enough camera that takes very good pictures and rarely needs the flash. When I do need the flash, it is recharged for the flash in under a second most times (never more than 2). So I guess that is why I never seem to take all that much advantage of photopass.

I believe that she meant adding the pictures from your Photopass to your account on the Photopass website, and then editing as you see fit (adding characters, autographs, borders, etc.). Adding the photos to your account is as easy as typing in the unique ID number on the back of your Photopass.

As far as I know, there are photographers on hand only at character restaraunts, though some of the nicer places (California Grill, Victoria & Alberts, etc.) may have them too.

To my knowledge, there are no Photopass photographers at any of the on-site golf courses.

As for your last question, I don't exactly know. I'd imagine it is possible to place one photo on two Photopasses at the photoshoot location. If not, additional shots can be taken with different Photopasses, or all of the pictures taken can be consolidated onto a single Photopass at one of the camera centers. The Photopass Cast Member can then make copies of the Photopass for each party.

I've heard a couple of things about photopass deals, and I'm wondering if they're still happening.

I read that if you purchased the CD at the park it was much cheaper. You can't add borders, etc. but it was around $70 (Maybe $80, I'm trying to remember). Has anyone tried recently?

I also read that if you wait until almost the 30 day mark to buy your CD Disney will send you a coupon for %50 off. Has anyone had this done recently?

Thanks for all the great info!
