Photo Pass at Disney World

Well at least no one can accuse you of false modesty.

99% of shots are great? Thats amazing, never brackett then?

We have set exposures for certain locations. I'm not allowed to change the camera settings. No need for braketing. The settings have been tested for a variety of conditions and for the most part, they work out well.

I'll even drop it down to 95%. Keep in mind, that I shoot well over 1000 photos a day.

I'm not familiar with this at all. Thanks for this website link. But I am curious - how did you find that link? I went to the main WDW site and the only mention of it is the packages. I'm a little bit cautious of things that aren't from the "real" site.

The website mentioned is the "real" site. That is the official website for Disney's Photopass. Lots and Lots of people are taking advantage of the $99 offer.

Somebody else posted it on another site. And to correct you, this is an official Disney site. Feel free to contact Disney to confirm.

Thank you both for the reply. This sounds like something I would like. I just love getting all this useful information off this board!

My in-laws went at the beginning of August and I told my MIL about the pre-purchase CD. She said that it arrived about a week after she had added her borders and placed her order. She is really pleased with it. I had already pre-purchased mine for Dec. when they decided to do their trip last minute, so I am hoping to get it back in time to use one of the pics for our Christmas cards this year. (MUCH cheaper at Wal-mart or Walgreens vs. the Photopass site!)

Just to make sure I am understanding everything correctly...

When you purchase the CD (either online, or at WDW), I think someone on this thread said that you get rights to the pictures. Is this correct?

I work at Walmart and I was talking to one of the photo department girls the other day about these kinds of CD's, be it from WDW or a cruise, or what have you. She said typically they will give you copyright release papers, allowing you to print out copies of the pictures on the CD.

If memory serves me correctly, it was about 15 bucks to purchase a 5X7 picture at the photo centers at the theme parks. So if all my above info is correct, then if I have, say, 25 pictures on my photopass and want to purchase a 5X7 of all 25 of them (which I wouldn't at that price), I would be paying $375.

At Walmart, it is $1.47 to print out a 5X7 of one of those pictures. As an employee, I get a 10% discount, so it would be $1.33 for a 5X7. So, if I printed off a 5X7 of all 25 pictures, that would be $33.25, in addition to the $99 price of the CD, for a total of $132.25.

If all those facts and figures are correct, that sounds like a heck of a deal.

And, in case it hasn't been covered already in this thread, can someone give me a detailed list of all the places besides the parks where you can get a photopass picture taken? Mini-golf? Boardwalk? Downtown Disney? etc, etc..[/quote]

See post(below) that was 2 or 3 above yours. I didn't see any at the Boardwalk either. My take on photopass is use your digital(they will take pics with you in it...just ask) and let them take photopass photos of same pic. They will take many shots of you and characters(they took 8 shots of my kids with Genie). At home compare your photos to photpass and you will see most are comprable to yours.... some better but some worse. Point is do I really need 8 shots of the kids with genie when I have a decent one of my own. Instead of buying the CD weed through your photos and photpass pics and make a photomovie out of them. I am currently doing this and I think it is $40 or $45 and is pretty neat.

The character breakfasts we went to did not have photopass photographers and I really don't think they are at any other restaurants. The photopass photographers were at SOME character meet and greets. Not all. They are also at the entrances taking pics infront of Castle, SSE, Tree, and Hat. and also in the waterparks on the family raft rides and kiddie areas. Did not see any one the golf courses or any Mini-golfs.

This IS the truth. I had to take some pics with a disposable camera since my digital crapped out 3/4 of the way thru the trip and my disposable pics are MUCH better then some of the photopass pics.

The Photopass site has maps of where the photogs are in each park and a list of other places they may be found on property along with some general tips. It is an Adobe file, so I just downloaded it for later.

That is an excellent strategy. We take a lot of photos so as to capture magical moments (hugs, kisses, etc). While you might capture the hug, I got the kiss that followed the hug while your camera was recharging. Some people want just the posed photos, some want the magical moments. I think if you have a large family that always wants copies of photos, the CD is the way for you. If these photos are only for your personal use, perhaps the movie is a better deal.

I know the photographers are at the water parks, I'm just curious if anyone has ever seen them at surfing lessons before TL opens?

I've photographed Surf School a number of times. Quite an early assignment, but a fun one none the less. If you are going to the surf school or the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique, buy the CD ahead of time. You are going to have so many photos from those events, it will make it worth it.

Yea!!! I'm doing both and already planned to buy the CD. There's four families so it will definitely be worth it.

I'm so happy to know someone will be taking pics at surf school!!!:sohappy:
