I’ve got a Valentine’s Date at Disney!

When – February 14-18, 2013

What – Valentine’s Day Trip

Who – Just me and the hubs!

Why – We had actually planned on going with the kids this weekend since they had a 4 day weekend. We booked it quite a while ago and then the kids ended up having all kinds of conflicts. So we cancelled and went at Thanksgiving instead! So while their lovely faces were in that trip report, this one is adult only!

Around the middle of January, Stephen remembered that his favorite soccer team, DC United, was going to be playing at Wide World of Sports over President’s Day Weekend.

He said, “Man I wish we could still go to Disney in a few weeks.”

I was like, “Um, honey? WE can still go to Disney!”

Oh yeah!!

So we bought some plane tickets, scrambled to find some places to stay on points and we were booked!

As a bonus, good friends and fellow KK agents Heather (@DisneyHeather) and Missy (@polymissy) were going to be there at the same time. And Richard (@Master Yoda) was coming up for the day on Saturday! Woo hoo! Friends everywhere! What fun this was going to be!

After we ate, we walked back to the room for bags

We walked through Oz this time.

These were beautiful:

Back out again!

We called and our bags were there, so we hung out in the room for a litle while to wait for them.

Stephen had a Rueben:

I had my regular pot roast sandwich.

The saddest thing ever happened at the end of our meal though. We were too full for dessert!! Wahhhh!! How I regret that decision now.

As we were walking back through the lobby, however, I forgot all about the ice cream we left on the table so to speak, because I was struck by the most glorious thought.

Oreo Bon-Bons.

We were a mere hundred yards from Oreo Bon-Bons.

Ice Cream? Forgotten.

Truth be told, I think I actually struck Stephen when I remembered the Bon Bons.

So before we went to the room we swung through the store and bought a pack of 6.

They inspired this meme. If you missed my last report, I'm always on the lookout for a good meme picture for the KK Facebook page!

Apparently those flowers were hand crafted and took something like four days each for the artist to make them. Kind of awesome. And loving the photos!

While we were waiting for our bags, Missy and Heather told us they were going to Beaches and Cream. When we headed back out we stopped to say hi and then made our way into Epcot.

We didn’t have any big dinner plans tonight, so we decided to eat in China. Okay, this does not look good, but I promise it was.

I love potstickers so much, it’s probably wrong.

I also love this!

After we ate, we continued around to the front.

We stopped in the Art of Disney because we both love that store!

We decided to go Find Nemo next and it was a walk on. Although walking through the line takes a good 5 minutes.

When we walked out, we walked smack into Missy and family! We chatted for a while then said goodnight. We started walking back towards the room and then we ran into Heather and her family! We chatted some more and then said goodnight again!

We were going to see everyone at Animal Kingdom the next day!

Saturday - February 16, 2013 – Animal Kingdom and Soccer

What? Soccer you say? Yes! Soccer!

Today was a big day! We were going to see Heather, Missy and Richard!! Fun fun!

Missy said they were going to be there at opening – 8:00!

I must admit, I doubted her a little and we decided to shoot for 8:30.

When we arrived, I texted Richard and he was there! We decided to meet back at the safari.

Have to take this picture because I’ve only taken it like 1000 times.

We found Richard, his lovely wife Mel, and the rest of their crew at the entrance.

The safari was a walk on, Heather and Missy weren’t there yet, so we went in search of Little Red.

Or not.

I will confess right now, we were talking and enjoying, and I didn’t take a single picture. Oops. And the animals were out!

Forgive me trip report readers.

I did take pictures of this guy!

When we got off, Heather said she was on her way back and she passed us on her way to the bathroom with one child. Her husband took the other child to get their face painted and when Heather came back we all chatted for a few minutes.

Then we said goodbye and promised to meet up again.

We walked with the Masteryodans to Everest. The wait was 40 minutes, but we had good company for a long wait so we got in line. I rarely go through the queue so slowly, so it was kind of neat to soak in the details as we walked.

At the end of almost exactly 40 minutes we board our train to claim the mountain and catch a glimpse of Disco Yeti himself.

Everest is a quandary for me. There are some great shots to be had from that ride, but it makes me nauseated enough that I’m afraid to move around too much to take them. I did take a few:

When we got off, Stephen and I had to depart for our next destination of the day. Heather and Missy (who came while we were in line), made their way to the front of the park so we could all take a picture together.

Poor Heather had to run from the back of the park.

She made it though! See how happy we all are?

It was great to see everyone!

We hugged everyone goodbye and we were off!
