I’ve got a Valentine’s Date at Disney!

When – February 14-18, 2013

What – Valentine’s Day Trip

Who – Just me and the hubs!

Canada2566_zps61bce819.jpg

Why – We had actually planned on going with the kids this weekend since they had a 4 day weekend. We booked it quite a while ago and then the kids ended up having all kinds of conflicts. So we cancelled and went at Thanksgiving instead! So while their lovely faces were in that trip report, this one is adult only!

Around the middle of January, Stephen remembered that his favorite soccer team, DC United, was going to be playing at Wide World of Sports over President’s Day Weekend.

He said, “Man I wish we could still go to Disney in a few weeks.”

I was like, “Um, honey? WE can still go to Disney!”

Oh yeah!! :D

So we bought some plane tickets, scrambled to find some places to stay on points and we were booked!

As a bonus, good friends and fellow KK agents Heather (@DisneyHeather) and Missy (@polymissy) were going to be there at the same time. And Richard (@Master Yoda) was coming up for the day on Saturday! Woo hoo! Friends everywhere! What fun this was going to be!

I'm back! It's a snow day here in DC! Yay! :)

After our boat trip back to Wilderness Lodge. I got the text that our room was done right as we entered the lobby.

We went straight to the villas.

DisneyValentines095_zps3ace1f22.jpg

I’ve said before I'm not a huge fan of the room décor at Wilderness Lodge, but boy do I love having a one bedroom villa. Even with just two of us!! It's so so nice! I took some quick pictures before we spread out.

Here’s our view:

It was raining pretty hard by now, so we just chilled in the room, and may have even fallen asleep. :D

After feeling rested, we decided Magic Kingdom was our park of choice for the evening and we also decided there was no way we were making it to the Wave for dinner! So fast food it was.

Sadly, it was raining enough that I didn’t even take my camera. The forecast showed no signs of it stopping so I said a sad goodbye to it as I left it on the counter.

I did take my iPhone though! So there will still be a few pictures! Phew! I know you are all relieved. :D

On our way out we stopped to get an umbrella. I decided I would prefer that to ponchos. We found a lovely DVC umbrella! I was a little worried it was going to be obnoxious when I opened it, but nope! Not bad!

photo10_zps6838248b.jpg

We were the only ones on an empty bus!

photo4_zps779e43cb.jpg

I loved having the umbrella, but I must say an umbrella is not easy to walk with in large crowds of people. I was so worried I was going to take someone’s eye out!

We were hungy, and people were leaving the park in droves so we decided to see if Be Our Guest had any no-shows or cancellations.

There was no one in the booth so we walked back to the restaurant.

I asked, “We were just wondering if there were any cancellations” and before I even finished my sentence she said, “We are fully booked tonight!”

That’s not quite what I asked, but okay.

Fantasyland!

photo5_zps545eb609.jpg

We decided the next best thing would be chicken waffles!! When we got to the window and ordered, however, we were reminded they stopped serving at 4 pm. Oops.

Strike 2.

Columbia Harbor House was nearby, so we walked over there!

Success! No line even!

Stephen had fish of some kind.

photo7_zps0335bce3.jpg

I had fish (of the fried kind) and chips. Delicious.

I wanted to ride Buzz and the People Mover, so after we ate we walked to Tomorrowland. There was no line for Carousel of Progress (shocking I know) so we decided to go for a spin!

It was kind of surreal to be sitting in the first scene when they were talking about Valentine’s Day, on Valentine’s Day!

We rode the People Mover next! I always love the People Mover.

When we went through the section where you can see the Buzz ride, we heard a funny conversation happening behind us.

photo31_zps6463e268.jpg

The mom in the car behind us asked what about the ride below. She said, “Oh, is that the Stitch Ride?”

They all agreed it was until someone saw Buzz. They said, “Oh there’s Buzz! That’s not the Stitch ride!”

“That must be Toy Story!!”

o_O

Oh the things people say.

We took a spin on Buzz next ourselves. That’s Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. In the Magic Kingdom. Not Toy Story Mania in Disney Hollywood Studios.

Now let me say that I am horrible at Buzz. HORRIBLE!! I know where all of the 100,000 point targets are and still can’t crack 600,000. And that’s on a very, very good day.

So tonight I didn’t even try. Or maybe I did but gave up after I left the first room with like 1400 points...anywhoo - I sat and told Stephen where they all were and he maxed it out! Go, honey!

photo30_zpsf81231f9.jpg

We got some ice cream next:

photo21_zpsf2cd9d7a.jpg

The rain was pretty much done but the park was pretty empty. We walked past the castle and realized we were only about 5 minutes from Celebrate the Magic. There were great viewing spots left so we stopped at one.

Celebrate the Magic is super cool. If you’ve never stopped to see it, it’s worth the time. Wreck it Ralph is my favorite part. So clever!

I decided I was going to try my iPhone for pictures when the fireworks started. Not bad!

I was so engrossed in trying to get a good shot I apparently didn’t notice the couple next to us making out for the entire show that Stephen told me about later. Awesome.

It was late after that, and we were tired! It had been a perfect way to end the day though. We took the boat back and called it a night!

More excitement to come tomorrow! :)

You have to feel for those front line CM's at BoG. When we were waiting for our table we must have seen those poor guys and girls tell about 3 groups a minute that the place was booked solid.

I would give myself about an hour doing that job before I completely lost it.

I always enjoy your trip reports and pictures. Can't wait to read more!

Thank you, Dee! I'm almost done with the next section. :)

Oh you are totally right on that. I would go crazy.

Another Tammy trip report?! Woo Hoo! :D It feels like you have had quite a few lately and I am loving every minute of it! Loving all the photos. I am not a fan of that WL villa decor either. I think the regular guest rooms are much cuter. I was in WDW for Valentine's Day back in 2009 and at first I thought that CoP added the Valentine's thing since it was actually Valentine's Day. Hahaha It took me a minute to realize that it was always like that. Can't wait to read more!!

Okay, you caught me! There was half a second where I wondered if they changed the first scene for Valentines Day. Haha! Then I realized what would have been involved and I came back to my senses. :)

Snow delay here again! There isn't a thing on the streets! It's kind of funny! But we got to sleep in so I'm not complaining. :)
Thanks for reading disneygirl!!

Friday, February 15th – Park Day and Resort Change

We were in no rush today, so we slept in until 8:30! Yay! Well, I did. Stephen usually wakes up much earlier than that, and he probably did.

Housekeeping used the path right next to our room to bring in a cartful of towels every so often, so I did hear them a few times that morning.

Since we booked so recently, we had no choice but to resort hop, similar to our Thanksgiving trip. Today we were hopping somewhere great though! Beach Club!

I have stayed in the hotel many times, but never the villas so I was excited. Stephen hasn’t stayed at either, so I was hoping he would see why I love it so much.

We packed up our stuff, which is remarkably easy when there are just two of you, and took our bags to bell services.

It was a dreary day again, but we didn’t mind.

We caught a bus to Epcot, pretty much with the goal of walking straight through and out the back.

Of course we’re not stupid, so we stopped for Test Track Fastpasses on our way through.

We checked in and our room was ready! Yay!

DisneyValentines158_zps12278772.jpg

Check-in was painfully slow though and Beaches and Cream was calling our name.

So we went there before our room.

DisneyValentines174_zps2b0348d1.jpg

It was pretty empty, so I was a little surprised when a lady who walked up about a second behind me, positioned herself in front of me and when the cm looked up to see who was next, she immediately started talking.

And then her party wasn’t even all there. Really? It’s not full, lady. Shouldn't politeness win?

Stephen had a Rueben:

DisneyValentines167_zps7e802fba.jpg

I had my regular pot roast sandwich.

DisneyValentines169_zps24d1e4fe.jpg

The saddest thing ever happened at the end of our meal though. We were too full for dessert!! Wahhhh!! How I regret that decision now. :(

As we were walking back through the lobby, however, I forgot all about the ice cream we left on the table so to speak, because I was struck by the most glorious thought.

Oreo Bon-Bons.

We were a mere hundred yards from Oreo Bon-Bons.

Ice Cream? Forgotten.

Truth be told, I think I actually struck Stephen when I remembered the Bon Bons. :D

So before we went to the room we swung through the store and bought a pack of 6.

The room however? Eh. Not so exciting. I love the room décor on the hotel side, but the villas were not my favorite. It just looks so dated! It was also a bummer to go from a one bedroom to a studio.

We called for our bags and they weren’t there yet, so we didn’t stay in the room long and walked back into Epcot.

We started making our way around the World Showcase.

We kept walking and stopped to watch the drummers for a little while in Japan.

DisneyValentines214_zps4f0826df.jpg

We had been checking out all the soccer gear in the stores around the World. I must say that the United States was the most disappointing! Unlike almost every other country, they didn’t have any real US soccer jerseys!

Germany stores have really upped their game on the other hand. I lived in Germany for 5 years when I was young, so maybe I loved it because so much was nostalgic.

By this time it had turned into a beautiful day! We were actually a little hot in jeans.

DisneyValentines249_zps2ee77a62.jpg

On our way to Test Track, I noticed the light was great and the water reflection was beautiful, so I made Stephen camp out until a monorail came by. It seemed like it took forever!

I took some warm up shots.

I enjoyed it again and Stephen enjoyed it for his first time. I still felt a disconnect between the car we designed and the ride.

This time we did take more time in the post-show area and we both thought that was really well done!

This was where you could drive the car you designed:

DisneyValentines286_zps15bb3183.jpg

This was a neat area where you could take a picture with different backgrounds and email it to yourself.

Stephen was ready:

These props were on the side. If the lens was real, it would have been amazing.

Stolen, but amazing.

DisneyValentines288_zpsdd45afbe.jpg

We stopped in Mousegear and looked around after Test Track. I really liked the Dooney iPhone cases, but sadly they didn’t have any for iPhone 5’s.

We walked by Innoventions next and decided to stop by for our free character photo!

After our picture, we both decided it was time for ice cream. Stephen got in line for “real” ice cream but I, of course, chose a Mickey bar.

I chose wisely.

Unfortunately when I finished, Stephen was nowhere near through the line so I had to go take pictures myself before my Mickey bar melted! It was not easy to hold the Mickey bar and take a picture with my ginormous camera at the same time, but I managed.

Mickey Bar!
