Half the MK is "down"

Thanks Dan. Sounds like a madhouse.

I'll take an educated guess that Splash, BTM and the HM all share the same utility.

Wow! We just got back today after a very hot week, temporary closures popped up throughout the week, but nothing that extreme. I don't know if heat affects ride operation, but boy I don't know how some of you guys are able to work out in that humidity and stay so "magical"!:wave:

I'm 99% sure they do. I'll ask a friend later.

My word I'm so glad I'm not working today, but I agree with Thelazer. Chalk this up to the good old "Restructuring." Maintenance was taxed as it was before people were let go, now it's like fighting a war against the Chinese army with 10 guys.

I was in Disneyland a couple weeks ago and at different times in a 24 hour period between Thursday (5/28) and Friday (5/29) there were several rides closed at different times during the day. From the time that I arrived at the park on Thursday (approximately 2 PM), Space Mountain was down twice, Indiana Jones was down twice, Haunted Mansion was down once (it went down while we were waiting in line), and Big Thunder Mountain was down once.

Unfortunately this type of thing happens. It's incredibly frustrating for guests and management alike when it all happens at once.

A little insight...

Today was just one of those days where everything must have happened at once. All attractions operate completely independent of each other. Big Thunder Mountain was down today for a computer problem. While Splash went down for a trainee accidently hitting an E-Stop. I have no idea what happened at HM. Both Thunder and Splash were back up within an hour.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Unfortunate...
Honestly, I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often.
Ever day that WDW exists without some HUGE catastrophe happening (no canyon jokes, please), is a small miracle.

Sorry--What's an E-Stop?

That happened in EPCOT a few years ago...There was merfument over that...:lookaroun:lol:

Wasn;t that the day they tested mission space and some one was also microwaving some breakfast at the same time in future world east and both of those caused an overload of the Epcot power grid :drevil: or was that just a random theory? :lookaroun

Sorry--What's an E-Stop?

Short for Emergency Stop - Every attraction has them. At Splash it stops all the Lifts and shuts the ride down. It requires the ride to be powered down and CMs to be sent out into the Mountain and reset each zone. This usually only takes about 20 min. Today there was a Log stuck in the brake at the bottom of the big drop which requires the CMs to Evacuate. If that brake would have been clear, the guests would have just sat in their logs while the Cast reset the mountain. A reset can be as quick as a 20 min. downtime while an Evac downtime is usually about an hour.

At BTM, an E-Stop shuts everything down and requires an Evac each time, followed by a 20 min. reset. This is usually about a 1 hour downtime.

My bad...

I hardly think 4 rides is half of ~40.

These were just a coincidence. They all went down for issues not related to each other.

Sorry, let me rephrase that. Of the E- tickets in the magic kingdom, a significant number of them all went down at the same time. Pardon my wording...I forgot I was on the internet...
