Half the MK is "down"

Thanks Dan. Sounds like a madhouse.

I'll take an educated guess that Splash, BTM and the HM all share the same utility.
No, they don't. I don't think there are any major substations in MK. The only times I know of major power interruptions were from the main energy facility in the north service area, and that affected the whole park.

I hardly think 4 rides is half of ~40.

These were just a coincidence. They all went down for issues not related to each other.

3 attractions closed for rehab and 3 down for technical issues equals 6. If your think Donald's Boat and Astro Orbitor will have any interest with the masses for those other 6 attractions looking for something interesting to do it just goes to show how poorly MK can handle crowds with it's current attraction offerings.

it's just that my wife and I were taking my sister-in-law and her significant other for their first trip to the world today. We walked in, went on pirates, made our way over to splash where they were evac-ing guests out of every log we could see and the entire line was dumped. We decided to try thunder mtn before splashs' line got there, but there was a CM standing in front holding a closed sign. So we quickly moved over to HM and saw 15 or so CM's standing with the line roped off saying there were technical dificulties. Fantasy Land was a parking lot. Just people packed shoulder to shoulder. I just got there, and am unsure what is going on but small world and pinnocchios were construction walled off for some kind of refurb. (still open, just narrower pathways) this was giving our guests a VERY bad impression for their first trip ever to the world. The wife and I LOVE it here and have never had anything quite like this happen to us. I'm dissapointed. We just skipped out and went to EPCOT because I wanted them to get on some rides. It's probably too late for me to do anything, but should we try stopping at the hotel desk? I'm really at a loss for what to do here...

(sorry for the huge paragraph. I was venting)

Personally, I would make a trip to guest relations at city hall. IMO thats unnacceptable. While its part of reality that everything cant run smoothly all the time, if it were me in that situation I would want the people at guest relations to know about it. But if it didnt completely ruin your day, or screw up your friends view of disney, than do what you think is best.

Let's make sure we are painting a clear picture for everyone who wasn't at the MK today. Everyone knew Space was going to be down, its been on the calendar for months. BTM, Splash and HM were all down for no more than 1 hour each. At one point all 3 were down at the same time for about a 30 min. time period shortly after 1:00. Considering the MK is open till 2 am with EMH tonight I would like to know what YOU would do if you were Guest Relations? Yes the timing sucks but grab a Fastpass to Thunder or Splash, go grab lunch or visit another area of the park. Come back in an hour or so and Fastpass the other other attraction. So lets all play Guest Relations for a minute... what would you do?

Chaulk this up to all the recent headcount reductions.
I know of a few areas that had alot of good people let go and everyone else has been working 6 days, 60 hours a week to keep things going. Sooner or later, some of it's going to break and the black swan event may be near.

Oh my god.. it's probabl,y just a damn coincidence at best, and your chalking it up to staffing? what a joke.

This has nothing to do with staffing, rides go down all the time, and in multiples... take your negativity somewhere else.

Although I know its frustrating......get over it. These rides run 365 days a year sometimes 16 hours a day. They are just machines and sometimes they break down. Remember the poor CMs out front and the ones at GR have nothing to do with it and don't get paid enough to get screamed at. There is plenty to do if 3 attractions or so are down.

So, one whole section runs on one part of DACS?

Today was just one of those days where everything must have happened at once. All attractions operate completely independent of each other. Big Thunder Mountain was down today for a computer problem. While Splash went down for a trainee accidently hitting an E-Stop. I have no idea what happened at HM. Both Thunder and Splash were back up within an hour.

Worst luck, EVER!:brick::ROFLOL:

As of this moment, space mtn (of course), thunder mtn, splash mtn, and the haunted mansion are all down at the same time...what's goin on???

I figured out what happened

Splash Mountain- One of those pesky critters in the ride wanted to reinact the scene from Caddyshack.. If you have seen it.. Its the pool scene

Thunder Mountain.. The trains were out of steam

Haunted Mansion - Well as we all know.. there are 999 happy haunts.. well some managed to escape.. They heard the new Ghostbusters game is coming out this week and wanted to get out of dodge before the new and old fans of Ghostbusters come to the Haunted Mansion and showcase their newly learned skills.... I ain't fraid of no ghost

Whats a black swan event? Don't let Disney Know because they may make it an after hours hard ticket event.....

Oh, you know it. They'll probably send them to CBJ. Or ATT.
And whats ATT?

Exactly as it sounds. Most attractions are no longer controlled from DACS. For example everything in the Haunted Mansion (ride system, animation, audio, projection, and lighting) is controlled from within the Haunted Mansion.

Ah...So, the old DACS system is gone? The hub under LS is empty? I thought Martin said that it still was in use.
