This is one thing that I have never seen any say on the boards so I am going to say it FLAME ON

" When you go to any place for the 20th time or the 17th or the 50th time, that magic that made it special for the first 10 times starts to get old and you start to pick at the little things. its just human nature. NO matter what it is a show, movie or WDW once you have seen for the the umptenth time it starts to get old. Stop comparing to the first times you went and enjoy it for what it is. Things change for the good and things change for the bad. Its a big cycle. Enjoy the vacation and stop nitpicking at all the little things that bother you"

OK FLAME STARTS NOW
Perfectly Stated! I couldn't agree more. It is so easy to find the fault in the little things and miss out one all the great things about your disney vacation. How often does someone post a thread about all the positive things they experienced while at WDW.

When I read some of the negative posts it makes me think a little more intently about our last trip. Any trip we've made to Disney (if I think hard enough) could have negative aspects. I guess I just don't focus on them. Maybe at the time they seemed like a super big deal. However, when I look at the vacation as a whole and the entire experience....the negative things never seem to be what comes to the front of my mind. I just hope it stays that way...:p

Good point.

I just thought it was weird when i went to MGM that if you buy a cheeseburger it has lettuce on it, but buy it at a Disney hotel it didn't or at Restaurantosaurus at AK. You'd think they would be the same throughout the parks for consistency. Plus lettuce on a cheeseburger...that's just messed up!!

About the whole CM thing, people can't be pleasant everyday. some people don't treat the CM's nicely, then if you throw in the heat and humidity, of coarse your gonna have bad days.

Fastpass is your friend!!! Anyone can use it, so if your worried about feeling bad getting straight on a ride while people are lining up don't be, they probably used there FP on something else and have to wait to get another. If they could FP, they would. I've seen on other forums about people b!tching that they had to stand inline while other people FP'd and walked straight on...it's not like Universal where only some people get to skip lines for forking out cash. It's Free!!! Use It, Ride it, Love It, Repeat!!

I agree! My girlfriend and I just didn't get it why so many people don't seem to use FP. I mean, it is the greatest invention since what? Fire? The wheel? When I visited WDW in the 80s as a kid I remember looooooooong lines, it was impossible to do MK in less than 2 days due to the lines. FP changed that. When we go to MK, DAK, EPCOT or DHS in the morning we first get the first FP before doing anythin else, than do less crowded attractions and ASAP when the next FP is available we get it and so on, so we could use up to 10 or 12 FP per day. We did all major attractions, at all parks, which featured FP with waiting times of an average 5 minutes including Soarin' (120 minutes standby!), Mission:Space, EE, JC, Splash Mountain, BTMR, Space Mountain, Kilimanjaro Safari etc. etc.
We never understood why those people stood in the standby-cue because most times FPs were still available and in the very few cases that the FP are gone quickly (before lets say 2.00 PM or even 12.00 AM) we got them in time. If someone doesn't use FP because he doesn't unterstand the way it works it's his own fault.

I won't disagree about PI, and have heard about an apparent change in transport lately, and I haven't let a hamburger ruin a vacation at Disney or anywhere else for that matter, but complaining about wait times in July is :brick:.

We have been there Easter week for the past few years, and if you get up and to the parks at opening, you can get on the E tickets with minimal wait and get FP's for the afternoon. It's no different now. If you roll out of bed at 10, have breakfast and saunter into the parks at 12:30 or so, yes, there will be long lines. It's been that way for oh......the last 20 years or so....

I don't know, To me ,It is what you make of it...Like many others said...Long lines , use Fast pass, food crappy, there are many, many other places to eat...Buses being crowded...Well it is summer season at the world , it happens, even in the off season..we came back from the world In april..All I can say is HOLY CRAP!!! Depending on how you timed it, crowds were nuts...Yes we used fast pass, yes we "knew " it would be nutty...we made the most of our trip...Yes it stinks when A vacation your looking forward to for however long does'nt exactly go as planned but what really can you do?? We've had the trip when one of our kids were sick ..to the point of having to go to the hospital to get rehydrated...We made the most of it...it still turned out to be a great trip...Had the trips when inlaws basically invited themselves....yeah not planned, but still made the most of it....Had the trip when certain rides were down....for the whole trip....The infamous crane was always somewhere in the Magic Kingdom..Yeah not good for pics..What can you do..
I hope you don't give up on Going back to Disney World...Maybe you just need a break.....It truly still is a Magical Place for our family even after going well over 20 times in 10 yrs....Each trip holds a different experience!!!

And I get to do it again in 71 more days...With a group of 10.....OHH DEAR!!!!

No flame from me cause I see that as a completely true statement. Sometimes you have to walk away and not go for a while to see the magic in the place again.
Living within an hours drive of the parks, my kids grew up going to the parks like people in Chicago might go to the zoo etc. for something to do on a weekend until sports and surfing took over their lives.
We totally quit going to the parks for probably 10 years unless it was a field trip or to be in the parade etc. When company came to see us and to go to the parks we pointed the direction but stayed home.
About 3 years ago we returned for the first time. The magic is back for some of the parks. Amazingly the Magic Kingdom is no longer a favorite-except for the castle at Christmas and Wishes. Animal Kingdom, the studios, and parts of Epcot have become the places we head now. I imagine if I ever have grandkids the MK will become more magical again. Can't wait.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. But I really believe it all has to do with the time you go on your Disney vacation. After being there 27 times, (I think?) it really has to do with picking the perfect time of year. I've been when it has been crowded and hot, such as April vacation and it can really ride your nerves. I just went this past May and it was nothing but perfect!! The weather was great and there were NO LINES!! I walked on almost everything, including Space Mountain twice. So if possible, for your next Disney visit (if there will be another for you???) choose a better month to visit!!!!:animwink:

I agree that it has to do with the time of year you went on your vacation. I've pretty much grown up at the parks and my family made the mistake of going this time of year once when I was little. It was a miserable park experience and we vowed to never do it again, despite having Four Season Salute passes. It's hot, gross, packed with cranky people... ick.

I've had burgers with lettuce, but in Australia if you buy a cheeseburger at Macdonalds it has no lettuce, so it was weird buying a chessebuger at MGM (it was that when I went) and getting lettuce when the other parks don't. Also IMO Lettuce and tomato sauce don't match.:hurl:lol

Hehe I remember when I went to Australia 6 years ago, I was totally freaked out by the avocado that showed up without warning on all my sandwiches. The color and texture really bugged me at first, but then I got used to it and I still put it on my sandwiches

Let me preface this by saying, not everyone is as geekish about Disney as we are. Not everyone plans for everything and knows the tricks. And thus we get frustration. Jeesh, I see this everyday. Waa Waa Waa Waa Waa.

I'm guessing we didn't get the whole story from this guest. The only time the waits at Soarin' and Test Track are that long is in the afternoon/late morning. Did you all sleep in?

If you CHOOSE to come at one of the most crowded times of year, than you have to arrive at the park at 7-8 AM. You can ride most of the rides by 11 AM...little waiting.

The majority of guests do their best to arrive at the parks by 9 AM and thus they arrive at 11 AM and from then on is when the lines begin.

As for cast not being magical, let's look at an example. You have done your best to follow the guidelines given to you in traditions and other training. So you tell a guest, in a nice way, that they need to put a shirt on over their bikini top. You tell a child in a nice way that he needs to climb down from that wall. You tell a guest that they need to keep their shoes on. That guest gets livid and goes to guest relations. You get called in to your manager's office and now have to write a witness statement and this is going on your permanent record because we are fluid about what rules to enforce and what to let go. Your manager, not being all that great at diplomacy, makes you feel like...yucky. You happen to be a female who is having a hormonal influx due to the lunar cycle. This makes you a bit more emotional than usual. After this statement is written, you are being sent to one of the worst spots there is in your department. And all you do is run into guests that are frustrated because they did not plan for their vacation. Now, be magical.

Add to all this the total decline in courtesy in the world today and your mother is sick, your house is being foreclosed upon, your child is throwing up in daycare, your boyfriend broke up with you, and you get the idea.

5. It's the burgers at the studio that suck...from what I understand, they are from a different vendor for some reason than the burgers served at other parks. Did you have one from ABC Commisary? Theirs are the worst, the ones at the Backlot place aren't as bad. But fear not, the burger at Pecos Bills/etc. is still the same - the studios just have awful quick service period.

I've always loved the Cuban at the Commisary...I always grab one for lunch on my DHS days.

Hey I don't expect everyone to have the same experiences I do and if someone says they had a bad experience I respect that. I just have to say that for as long as I can remember (and I'm old, lol) people have been saying that WDW is going downhill. I believe that you had a bad time and that sucks but I really don't think WDW is on a general decline.

Actually, in the U.S., McDonalds serves lettuce on it's most popular sandwich, the Big Mac, among other specialty sandwiches (including many regional variations).

Burger King provides lettuce on it's Whopper signature sandwich, and Wendy's puts it on just about every burger they make (even the .99cent ones).

Serving lettuce with a burger is extremely common, but thankfully if one doesn't care for it you can just take it off.
