I usually hit Cosmic Ray's at least once each trip for my burger fix.:)

It often depends for me on which is open first, LOL...Cosmic Ray's often opens at 10AM, and if I skip on breakfast by then I could eat a good burger after getting a few rides in.

Overall as far as quick service I think I prefer Pecos Bills, though I think that's more for the atmosphere than anything, but on a nice day sitting out on the patio in front of the Castle at Cosmic eating a burger can be nice too.

For sit-down, though, I have to say my favorite in any of the parks is Liberty Tree Lunch...Old Glory mmmm.

I haven't been to Beaches and Cream for a very long time, for some reason it just never works out for me to get over there. I'm making a point of going next time I'm down, I wanna see how it racks up to the one at LTT lunch.

If you want a good Disney burger go to Beaches and Cream and you will see what I mean.:slurp:

DH and I ate at Beaches and Cream in Dec '08. I had the cheese burger, and it was AT BEST, alright. I'd heard some great things about their burgers and I guess it didn't really impress me much.

I have to say that I have been to the world at least 130+ times and it never gets old for me or my family. I am a native Floridian and we always went when the rest of the country didn't come! We know NEVER to visit WDW between the last day of school and the first day of school NO MATTER WHAT!!! If we did we would know what was going to happen, extremely long lines, uncontrollable heat and tempers flaring because of the before mentioned. I have 3 kids and now live in Atlanta. We take them out of school and go every January or February. We never have to wait more than 20 minutes for anything.

The counter service food is typical theme park food. It is not the best of the best and most people expect that going in. I always have a magical experience because I try to make sure that my kids are polite to the CM's and the CM's are then polite back to us! We have witnessed some the the worst mannered people on the planet speak to CM's like they were dirt and my hubby is always quick to point out that there are children in ear shot and the guests should get over themselves and just be happy not to be at work. :zipit:

If you want to sleep in on vacation every morning until 10 then WDW is not the vacation you need to be on. That would be a beach vacation or a cruise. Maybe Vero Beach or Disney Magic but not a theme park.

This is one thing that I have never seen any say on the boards so I am going to say it FLAME ON

" When you go to any place for the 20th time or the 17th or the 50th time, that magic that made it special for the first 10 times starts to get old and you start to pick at the little things. its just human nature. NO matter what it is a show, movie or WDW once you have seen for the the umptenth time it starts to get old. Stop comparing to the first times you went and enjoy it for what it is. Things change for the good and things change for the bad. Its a big cycle. Enjoy the vacation and stop nitpicking at all the little things that bother you"

OK FLAME STARTS NOW

Well I still love to go every year this is my 14th time going down to Disney World and it's funny because it still has not gotten stale yet. Although at least 5 trips people can start seeing faults at Disney World.

Our trip in April was the best trip we ever had at WDW:sohappy:. All three of us were very sad to leave:(. We found the food to be great and the Disney "magic" still there. We try to go once a year and going often could lead to finding more fault with the experience. If anyone looks hard enough, you can find fault in anything. We find it to be great and love going. When we ask each other the question: " If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?" We all three answer the same, "Disney World!"

Not for me. My last trip in October was the best ever! Also, last I checked, I thought Pleasure Island was made for everyone BUT children

Oh no, you will find so-called "parents" dragging their children around in strollers everywhere. It's Disney, so it's okay to take your kid to a bar and get sloshed.

We did see ALOT of little children in PI with there "Parents" and were more then a little concerned that some of these ppl were pushing strollers while knocking back a cold one :fork:. Also LOTS of unsupervised kids, now being a Law Enforcement Officer it is easy for me to just say "those teens are up to no good" but WOW....there was literly NOONE there watching this place I had heard that the Sheriffs Dept had Special deputies there, DIDN"T SEE'UM, and unfortunately thats how you curtail mischief and crime is just by being seen, a uniformed officer just being seen can do ALOT with out ever having to say a word.
We had to go to Downtown to Wonders store for an item and it was our first trip there after dark since 1997 and WOW has it changed for the worse! I bet Disney now knows what a BAD IDEA it was to open it up like that, We will not miss this "New PI"
We were staying on property at BWV and had the pleasure of meeting some locals who too have become disgusted with PI and all the negative PR it has been receiving locally, They come to the Boardwalk to the clubs and dining and watch the 4th fireworks from the Beach at Beach Club.

Pumbas Nakasak

Heading for the great escape.
Its trully terrible, exposing kids to alcohol and all these people with "alternative" lifestyles. Some parents need to take a long hard look at themselves.

Hmmm, that's too bad! There were lots of factors at work that probably led to your feeling this way. A couple of things I would throw in to, maybe, make your next trip better:

1. Wait a year or two! I've been about 10 or 11 times, but with two years between trips. That gives me enough time to make it all fresh and exciting, as well as giving enough times for new rides and such to be added and updated.

2. Plan for a less busy time. Like October! It's cooler and far less crowds! Since you don't have children, that's a lot more doable!

3. Consider trying something new, like a tour or parasailing or something like that! Just whatever you've perhaps thought about doing in the past, but have never actually done! That would put a different spin on the whole trip!

Those are just my thoughts! As for PI, my thoughts are: First, it was never meant for kids. It was meant as an adult thing. So, I would hope nobody would be trying to take their kidlets there at night! I sure wouldn't! Second: as others have mentioned, it's amazing what happens when you make it accessable to EVERYONE, not just Disney guests. It becomes just another strip of nightclubs and loses it's magic. It also opens it up to the other "unpleasantries" that plague many nightclub districts nation wide.

Let me preface this by saying, not everyone is as geekish about Disney as we are. Not everyone plans for everything and knows the tricks. And thus we get frustration. Jeesh, I see this everyday. Waa Waa Waa Waa Waa.

I'm guessing we didn't get the whole story from this guest. The only time the waits at Soarin' and Test Track are that long is in the afternoon/late morning. Did you all sleep in?

If you CHOOSE to come at one of the most crowded times of year, than you have to arrive at the park at 7-8 AM. You can ride most of the rides by 11 AM...little waiting.

The majority of guests do their best to arrive at the parks by 9 AM and thus they arrive at 11 AM and from then on is when the lines begin.

As for cast not being magical, let's look at an example. You have done your best to follow the guidelines given to you in traditions and other training. So you tell a guest, in a nice way, that they need to put a shirt on over their bikini top. You tell a child in a nice way that he needs to climb down from that wall. You tell a guest that they need to keep their shoes on. That guest gets livid and goes to guest relations. You get called in to your manager's office and now have to write a witness statement and this is going on your permanent record because we are fluid about what rules to enforce and what to let go. Your manager, not being all that great at diplomacy, makes you feel like...yucky. You happen to be a female who is having a hormonal influx due to the lunar cycle. This makes you a bit more emotional than usual. After this statement is written, you are being sent to one of the worst spots there is in your department. And all you do is run into guests that are frustrated because they did not plan for their vacation. Now, be magical.

Add to all this the total decline in courtesy in the world today and your mother is sick, your house is being foreclosed upon, your child is throwing up in daycare, your boyfriend broke up with you, and you get the idea.

It's totally understandable that a castmember can be having a lousy day. Or even a lousy week. We all have them. But, when you are being PAID to be cheerful and helpful, there's really no excuse. That is essential what a castmember's job is. I've worked with the ungrateful, obnoxious public. It was difficult to remain cheerful. But as that is what I was being PAID for, I did it. I'm stuck with lousy employees everyday, everywhere I go. When I'm at Disney, I expect better. And almost all of the time, I get it. Disney castmembers are awesome. But when a couple of them aren't so swell (and I don't care what the reason) it can wreck the moment. It is a shame that management doesn't back up their castmembers who are doing the job the way they are trained.

And I would suggest that everyone do what I try to do on every trip. I THANK castmembers for helping me to have a great day. I also mention specific castmembers to management, and write little thank you notes at city hall. A little appreciation can go a long way.

And frankly a lot of guests could use a large lesson in manners these days. Far more so than any castmember.

5. It's the burgers at the studio that suck...from what I understand, they are from a different vendor for some reason than the burgers served at other parks. Did you have one from ABC Commisary? Theirs are the worst, the ones at the Backlot place aren't as bad. But fear not, the burger at Pecos Bills/etc. is still the same - the studios just have awful quick service period.

AEfx
This is SO TRUE. The burgers at the Studios are basically inedible and really have a nasty taste compared to the ones at MK or Epcot. ESPECIALLY the Commissary. *shudder* If you have to have a quick service burger in the Studios, the Backlot is your best bet, but that is not saying much.

Love and I are big fans of the Disney burger and we simply will not eat at the Studios. We wait (snack maybe) and then hop over to the other parks to get lunch.

I just returned home from my 18th trip and had a few things to vent about. Here we go:

1. It seems as if some of the Magic has gone on vacation. I remember the workers being much more cheerful in previous trips.
Every one has an off day or so..and when you are dealing with sooo many guests in one day who can be not that cheerful themselves..it makes sense that the cm's may not be as happy and chipper as they could be.

2. The Transportation was terrible. The bus system has really been let go.
I hate the bus system with a passion and have for many many years..that is why I always use my own vehicle...:)

3. Thanks God that Pleasure Island is done for. I went there with my fiance and another couple and was disgusted. Definitely not a place that I would ever take a child if I had one. I'm not a prude by any stretch of the imagination either.

Well a bar/club atmosphere is normally not the type of place that you would want to bring your child anyway.

4. I know that it's an extremely crowded time of year but the lines at Disney Studios were outrageous. I went for the day and the only ride I got on was The Great Movie Ride. RNRC was 160 mins...TT was 90 mins....and TSM was 200 mins. $70 dollars a day for 3 rides...Backlot Tour needs to go so that the congestion will dissipate.

Well..you knew..it is summer time and schools are out and this is when most people go on vacation..makes sense that the lines would be really long..same thing as if you woud go at Christmas time or Sprink Break.

5. This is the worst one of them all.........................Disney Burgers!!!!! I used to crave a Disney Burgers. I was soo excited to get one and then I bit into it and it tasted like dried out meatloaf...it killed my trip.
I normaly do not eat the burgers so I have no comment..but to kill your trip..well..it is just a burger..

Also..I can go to my fave restaurant at home every night and order the same thing and have it be amazing and then one day go and it tastes bad or was over or undercooked or something..that does not mean that the next time I go it will be bad.

I know that everyone is gonna rip into me fro bashing the Wonderful World of Disney but it just really ed me off. I love Disney more than anyone and get psyched for my annual trip but this one really turned me off.

Many people have less then wonderful trips to the world..you are not the first and you will not be the last...I have never had a bad time while I am there..and I have usually gone 2 times a year.

Maybe because I go when the weather is cooler and the crowds will be smaller..or maybe because I am happy just being there that I overlook the things that may be wrong.

Some of the things that people complain about though are things that you should expect...crowds and long lines and slow bus service.

Hopefully you will have a better time the next time you visit.

If you are good at reading people's psyches, and moods, you can tell the difference between someone who sucks and someone who is having a bad day. Look at the situation. Is the cast member trying to control lots of people in a short period of time while trying to accomplish something else? Thus....being short with guests. Is the cast member deficient in interpersonal skills, but still making an attempt to say please...but appearing to be rude? Or have you been watching the cast member for a bit of time and haven't seen them smile to one person or do more than the minimum for their job? It is the latter person that is a bad cast member.

We have people in our department that rarely smile on stage and only smile backstage when they are making fun of guests. We have cast members who do barely the minimum to accomplish their job. We have people who hide from guests whenever possible to avoid helping anyone. They suck. Then we have people who try and who occaisionally have a bad day. It is the later that get into trouble more than the former because they are putting themselves out there.

So yes, some cast members suck and some are having a bad day. Most are polite and many go above and beyond.

I was down the same time as you and you just def. went to the parks at the wrong time. I was waiting onlines for 60-70min for TSM and 30-60min for RnRC and as little as no wait for ToT. The burgers I ate were great and the nuggets even better. The buses for me were only bad once and that was extra magic hours at 2AM where there were loads of people.Timing is basically everything in WDW and you just def. went to DHS at the wrong time.

Exactly (to agree with your agreement, LOL).

Unless I'm going to Sci Fi or Brown Derby, I just eat elsewhere (i.e. not in the park). I am not a picky fast food person by any strech of the imagination (I have been known to eat those microwave burgers at a convenience store...and like them, LOL), but I have such a hard time finding something that is actually good at the Studios for fast food.
