Well there goes another great thing. Keep it for two years then destroy it, or did they use parts of it for something new? We just don't know. What I do know is that I will not be wasting my fastpass+ on MSEP. All this magic my way stuff, but the possibility of a parade not being there to use it, not buying it. A parade will be there, just not sure which one.

I have only experienced spectro once. Its music was amazing. that night my family wanted to leave, but as a younger child i begged them to stay and watch the parade. I won, watching the floats glide down main street joy filled me with every beat. i was amazed at what this parade was. this awful news of it finally leaving us lets me know i can not experience this anymore. that moment watching spectro was more magical than watching Illuminations for the first time. it has a special place for me.
RIP Spectro.

Yeah. I call them out to their faces.

However, in this case Tom Corrless was telling people not to believe the May the 4th stuff.

Ricky Brigante was the main promoter of that hype instead.

In this case he is mistaken though that not all floats remain intact. At least several were trashed. have yet to hear which ones or all.

And you are correct, Ricky was the one propagating the rumor and Tom was more or less saying it was nonsense.

Is there something wrong with me that I am a grown man and wanted to cry when I read this? Oh, Spectro, how I love thee. I will forever fondly remember this parade as the very first thing I witnessed when I walked into the Magic Kingdom for the first time. Truly beautiful. My hopes for a return, along with the floats, are now crushed :(

Your not alone dude well stated. I dont even want to play the soundtrack right now too upset and it makes me mad. Maybe down the road but right now I really am hating on Disney, as much I hate to use the word hate lol.

I try to apply the saying "Don't be sad it ended, be happy that it happened." Our memories and the music live on. I am nonetheless angry that TDO has squandered SpectroMagic so ruthlessly. Seems like the termites loved the floats too much as well. MSEP seems to have some innate repellent quality.

MSEP was a spectacle for it's time, as was Spectromagic. Now if only Disney could amaze us with a brand new spectacle of great visuals and music equally as impressive...:( RIP Spectro, bring on a new "fantasy"...

A moment of silence...

This was by far my favorite nighttime parade and the one that brings back the most memories of my first trips with my babies. The music instantly brings me back to that place and time. So very, very sad!

I too will welcome a new nighttime parade and hope they will reuse the music or at least have something similar. The music was was very stirring!

This will sound melodramatic, lol, but this is the first time since my mom died, about four years ago, that I've thought, "I'm glad she didn't live to see this."

She sure did love Spectro.

Maybe Spectro went to heaven, too, and all the dead who liked it (or never got to see it) can go watch at night. I bet it runs nightly in the summer in heaven (and it must always be summer in heaven, lol). They'll all be shimmering, glimmering, carouselling. :)

Gosh... So much loathing for poor MSEP. I appear to be the only Disney fan who hates SpectroMagic. While I'm sorry to hear of its fate - something that shouldn't have to happen to any beloved piece of Disney history - personally, I was glad its run was over. Now I'm going to run away before the angry mob gets their pitchforks out!

I love MSEP, always have, always will. But MK needs a new parade - something along the lines of Dreamlights. I wasn't a fan of the recent upgrades it received, noteably the soundtrack change, which I think ruined it a bit.

Must have something to do with us being Figment fans....as you are not alone!
Agree with everything in your post, so no pitchfork chasing from me.
:)

I also was not a big fan of Spectro. MSEP was always tops for me, but with the original score..not the lame re-mix that is currently playing.

Spectro was okay....but just did not have the emotional pull and appeal that MSEP did..but that is of course just personal opinion.

Speaking of such, i am surprised Disney did not try to make a buck off of the 'retirement' of Spectro like they did when MSEP left Disneyland.
Selling off the parade float light bulbs and all....

Once again, another example of what a great job the folks at TDO are doing at running the place....seriously termites just don't show up one day out of the blue and cause the damage they did right? Like did they just put the floats out in a tent and no one checked on them for a solid two years? Of course we're left with MSEP which although a classic hasn't particularly aged well. I enjoy the parade and all but my friend who is a big Disney was very baffled and confused by it after she saw it for the first time. It's a very odd parade...a bunch of giant mushroom shaped floats, a caterpillar smoking a hookah, a Pinnochio segment themed to Pleasure Island, a Pete's Dragon float, and then "A Salute to America" to tie it all up.

Wasn't Brigante going on the offensive a couple days ago saying the newest Star Wars expansion rumors were bunk? After he made such a big deal about May the 4th?

OMG, I would sure hate to be a new person to these boards. What a massive amount of double standards pour forth from people here. If you go to one thread that is talking about the demise of Indy, which has been there since DHS opened, you hear...well it needed to be updated. It's run its course.! Have a good, albeit creepy, parade meet it's demise the world falls apart. Our childhood is ripped away from us, the world is going to end. And so on.

Over the nearly 60 years since Disneyland opened, how many different parades have come about only to be killed off later. No one seemed to care about that. In fact the battle cry has been "We need a new Parade" for some time now. You cannot have both...a new parade and an old parade. MSEP was recently upgraded to include LDS lighting, so Disney execs may not be the brightest light on the float, but they are also greedy and they will choose the parade that is the most popular. This is the second time that MSEP has been in MK. There must be a reason.

I suspect it's the same grouping that feels that CoP, Tiki Room, and Country Bears should be flushed down the toilet because it's boring, or tired or irrelevant or not popular.

I do not know what Disney is planning to do in the future. Not have any night parade? Anything is possible and that would be too bad. I don't like parades, but, I know a lot of people do, so I have to guess that Disney is either going to invest refurbishing money in a new parade or just wait until MSEP falls off it's wheels and the parade is replaced with a light show on the castle.

Mentioned often in this scenario is that the floats were infested with bugs and rotting away. Question, since MSEP is older then Spectro, by quite a few years, why isn't it gone already. I think it a way to a handy excuse for demolition of something that they just didn't want back again. If you love Spectro, you are saddened by it's passing. If you didn't like Spectro not a moments sleep will be lost over it being gone. We just all come at it from our own perspective and our own initial exposure. Crap continuously happens!
