    Alfredo di Roma Ristorante Closing?

Alfredo's may or may not be closing, but I'm not buyin' this as "the" announcement. Honestly now, does this read like any official Disney announcement you've ever read? Seems to me like someone having a good time playing at write-your-own-Disney-press-release. Examples: -- "Announcing more...

Pre-order the Imagineering Field Guide to the Animal Kingdom

Screamscape is reporting another round of discussions on what to call the Studios - and reporting the possibility that the name "Disney-Pixar Studios" may win out. Deferring publication of the Studios "Field Guide" when sequentially it should be next may indicate that in fact The Powers That Be...

    Your Final Goodbye?

The reality is that I wouldn't WANT to know it's my last trip. That said, the "last ride" would have to be Splash, followed by a v-e-r-y- slow (and largely backwards) walk down Main Street. The last thing I want to hear is Jimminy Cricket singing "When You Wish Upon A Star....." and the last...

    My maps came!!!!!!!

My maps and 2007 planning video both arrived today! Oh the humanity......haven't watched the DVD yet, so don't know if they've returned to a classical presentation, or still have Luke and his annoying friends...hope not. As a previous poster said, one map issue is that they're printed on both...

    Ying & Yak in AK

I think I read that the new Asia restaurant will be owned & run by the same company who currently runs Rainforest Cafe. Given the service, quality, & pricing issues there, I'm gonna spend a lot more time worrying about an Asian version of "Rainforest troubles" than yak products. Hope I'm wrong...

"No trip to WDW is complete without..." - Personal Traditions

Two must-do's: Our first Mickey Bar in front of the Castle; A sweet pretzel from the bakery in Norway.

Poll: What's the worst mistake that imagineers could make at Epcot?

Since I can't seriously consider SSE going anywhere - too much of an icon - I would dread a "character flood" also. The old character bus was great, set just the right tone: spontaneous, they're there, then they're gone; way better photo ops than in the current "empty store" environment. We...

    What makes SGE so horrible?

I belong to the camp that feels Stitch is the worst, most unappealing, least humerous, most annoying character Disney ever created. From that perspective, it's easy to really dislike / ignore the SGE attraction. We are also AE loyalists who loved that experience - even my teenage daughter - and...

Disney/MGM NEW SHOW Survey - Weird

Having just had my first trip to California Adventure - and the Aladdin show at the Hyperion Theatre there - my first reaction was: Great! They're planning Hyperion East. But something about the survey kept eating at me. I'm not qualified to comment on the link / domain info in an earlier post...

    WDW vs. Disneyland

Been on WDW's Splash many times, my favorite ride; just had my first trip on Splash at DL 2 weeks ago. My thoughts: Beyone the discomfort of the DL logs, I found DL's version darker, didn't tell the story as well, seemingly many fewer figures, long stretches of just "hanging green stuff;"...

    WDW vs. Disneyland

Trust me, I WANTED to like DL's version better based on everything I'd read - we even sprang for the big bucks for reserved seating in the Disney Gallery. Result? We were held in a closed-in upstairs courtyard - with no view - longer than I've every had to wait on the benches in Florida. When we...

    WDW vs. Disneyland

We're a hard-core WDW-lovin' family (last visit May '06 for 10 days) who just had a chance to visit DL for a few days, and it was eye-opening. I have trouble arguing with anything Lutz said in his article. Overall, I still think MK is a superior park, but DL had a freshness and authenticity that...

    Disneyland Tickets

We just got back 2 days ago from Disneyland / California Adventure (tacked it onto a business trip). We had purchased our tickets (3-day park hoppers) by mail several months ago, and I recall that they did have a "use by" expiration date. Other thoughts: I would allow 3 days. If at all possible...

    No more Insider Yearbook

Got the same e-mail. I think there was a lot of unhappiness particularly with the hardcover version which, for $50., was terribly overpriced. Several months back I had gotted an e-mail survey from Disney requesting comments and improvement suggestions for the Yearbook, so I was hopeful that...

Two Questions...Star Tours and mission space

Did "Green Team" on M:S in May - twice. After 3 back surgeries and motion problems, I would never have done the original. Green was GREAT! Highly enjoyable, real experiences of motion without the spinning, and - IMHO - smoother than Star Wars. Looking forward to many more journeys.

    Yacht Club or Beach Club?

We have stayed at both Yacht and Beach several times each, both regular and concierge levels. Our last stay at Beach was May of this year. Agree with previous posters about the difference in formal "feeling" between the two, with Yacht feeling more "formal." But in our experience that goes...

    Back problems at the World

I've had 3 back surgeries, the most recent a little more than a year before my last trip to WDW. I'm not a coaster person, but did try Everest; it is pretty smooth, but I can see how some backs might react to the lateral g-forces. I think one to really avoid would be Tower of Terror and its...

    Advantages of concierge level rooms?

We just got back (late May) from a "double concierge" trip - received a complimentary upgrade to concierge at Beach Club, then moved to Animal Kingdom Lodge where we had reserved (and paid for - in order to go on Sunrise Safari) concierge-level room. The Beach Club upgrade was magic, of...

Where's your favorite spot to shop at WDW?

We really like the smallish shop at the International Gateway in EPCOT. Never crowded, high-quality merchandise, not a big selection but nice wood panelling and a pleasant place to escape the crush.
