Does anyone think they will ever make a new star wars video for the ride? and How is the Green team for Mission space exciting if there is no G force involved? Do you still feel like your moving in any way? I dont understand how its different than just watching a movie...thanks

George Lucas has mentioned a new film and new technology for Star Tours. It doesn't seem to happening any time soon. Several things have been rumored, including a pod-racer style film. However, one thing has seemed to keep resurfacing, and that is new simulators with a greater range of movement.

As for Mission:Space Green, The experiance is actually comparable to Star Tours, it is still a simulator, after all, but there are no G forces. However, there are some sensation of G forces, accomplished by tilting the simulator all the way back, so the guests are in a sence laying down, but it can create the false feeling of G-forces. It is still a very exciting attraction, no matter which of the 2 experiances you choose.

Hope this helps!

I haven't had a chance to ride the new version of mission space and I never rode the old version because of my motion sickness, but I've heard several people say how much fun the green side is. It's a different experience, but it's still just as much fun as the orange side, you just don't get those sensations of weightlessnes and force on your chest but with several of the movements of the pods you still get some intense thrills.

Hail the new version!

My wife and son are very excited about the prospect of trying Mission Space for the first time. Neither was comfortable with the idea of spinning G-forces, and can now at least join me in the non-spinning version. Spinning G-forces certainly make the attraction into something really, really special, but we are overjoyed that the weak of stomach and vertiginous faint of heart can try this wonderful attraction.

You actually feel more motion of the pods on the Green Side in Mission: Space, although you don't feel the G's.

As for Star Tours, I think this rumor has been around since only after a few years from when it opened. With every prequel that has come out, rumors have kept resurfacing; A Pod-Racing Sequence, A trip throught Coruscant, Flight over the Lava Planet Mustafar...it just keeps coming. Supposedly George Lucas did say at a Star Wars Convetion, I think it was at Celebration III when Episode III came out, that he intended to revamp the ride, however, he didn't mention whether this would be a new ride, or an upgrade to the version that already exists.

Basically for Star Tours, both Disney and Lucas have to agree on the project, and a budget needs to be set. Until then, nothing will happen. But I do suspect we'll hear something in the coming years.

I really hope it has nothing to do with pod racing or any of that. I think it should be something that is more in line with the original films. Hopefully we will see something cause it just doesnt live up to other motion sims anymore.

two more questions..1. does the mission space thing move from side to side on the green line? cause it doesnt look like it can by the way its hooked up...or can it just go back and forth...and what ride pulls more G's...Rockin Roller Coaster or Mission Space?

i am a HUGE Star Wars fan and would love to see something new for the Star Tours ride. It's been the same since they opened it in the late 80's I believe. Still a great ride (for us Star Wars geeks), but I would love to see something done with the original films. I don't want to see anything related to the prequels. That's just my opinion. The prequels are entertaining, but that's about it. Star Tours would be awesome if they did something like: a trip through Endor, Dagobah, or something to do more with the final battle of the Death Star from Jedi....i don't know....but I hope they do it soon.

The green side capsules can rock from side to side and tilt back and forth, and any combination of that. However, it does not ever rotate arond the center of the room like the Orange side does. However, it is of note that the machines on the green side are able to preform G-forces, however they are programmed not to spin at all.

As for More G's Rock n' Roller Coaster Wins with 5 g's, but only for a split second, so fast your body barely, if at all notices it. M:S only pulls 2 g's but for a sustained period of time, therefore causing more heath issues, and making it seem like more g's.

Did "Green Team" on M:S in May - twice. After 3 back surgeries and motion problems, I would never have done the original. Green was GREAT! Highly enjoyable, real experiences of motion without the spinning, and - IMHO - smoother than Star Wars. Looking forward to many more journeys.

It is most definately smoother than Star Tours, being much newer and using very different and new technology.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the Green Experiance.

Yep..."Green is Keen"!

I finally managed to get up the nerve to try MS for the first time ever last week. Yeah, i'm a big sissy when it comes to "thrill ride" type attractions ( although i LOVE Big Thunder Mtn...figure that one out! lol!). M:S was one ride i had to avoid as i was too nervous to ride it when it first opened. I wanted to wait and find out more about it, and find out exactly WHAT it was and if i could handle it. I finally decided i could'nt, so M:S was basically a pavilllion that did not exsit for me for a while.

When i first heard about the new "Green" version earlier this year, i seriously reconsidered and decided to give M:S a shot. I am GLAD i took the chance and did....as it was very cool and i ended up going back and riding 2 more times. I have a hard time handling rides that spin or have sudden steep drops ( Splash Mtn. barely makes it for me..) so was not able to really bring myself to ride M:S before the introduction of the Green version.

I'm happy to report that it is fine andthe ride expereince is basically a glorified modern version of Star Tours. It is VERY very cool though...so definately make the effort to check it out. Even if you decide not to even try "Green Team", be sure to check out the post-show area. Well worth a look.

Hope this convinces you to give it a try!

I think they can readily adjust the numbers of Green v. Orange units depending on the queues. When I was there last month there was a queue for Orange, but not for Green.

Green Mission Space is better than I expected, but I still prefer the original version. :)
Green line may get backed up but I'm not saying why ;)

As for Star Tours... I hope they change the movie. Star Wars is way too good of a movie to have such a horrible ride.

The Star Tours ride reminds me of the movies pre-improvements with digital picture and sound. It's like an 80's flashback. :lookaroun

the simulators are all capible of switching from orange to green or vice-versa in a matter of minutes. Most times, it's a 2 green 2 orange split, but not always, it can be any combination of things.
