    300,000,000 Dollar Rehab for EPCOT

Probably my error - I have an ariel view of the park from a few months before it opened. The roads are dirt paths although some lead to actual gates to onstage areas and are paved today. The plots were surveyed and marked which would be standard practice prior to construction. Remember that...

    300,000,000 Dollar Rehab for EPCOT

I'm sorry but I've never seen a thread with so many postings and so little information. Take a look at an aerial view of Epcot's World Showcase. Each plot of land in between the existing countries (denoted by roads on either side connecting to Perimeter Road) is meant for a country. Yes...

    The Living Seas

The problem with pavillion sponsorships is the high cost. Disney wants over $100MM for 10 year sponsorships, more if you want and e-ticket ride, even more if you want input on the attraction (some estimates put GM's payout as high as $300MM or $400MM for TestTrack). Hard to sell...

    Test Track Overrated

Unfortunatley although many thought the premise of seeing inside the testing facilities of GM would be cool, it comes off boring. Vehicle development is comprised of moments of exhilaration followed by long stretches of boring routine. I worked at the Milford Proving Ground in the Embedded...

    Rate the Hotels!!!

Hmmm...between being a former cast member in the Central Reservations Office and my proclivity for going 2-3 times per year, I'd have to say: Deluxe: Grand Floridian I like being treated well and being surrounded by the nicer things in life. Easy access to everything. Great food and...

    WDW Speedway

Well it looks like this thread has it sorted out. It was IRL and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. The track was not laid out by a professional or with professional guidance by any series. It does not have enough width for the speeds resulting in cars hitting the wall at odd angles (head on...

    Monorail Expansion?

From an inside source the issue isn't and is money. It isn't money because Disney wants to spend almost none of their own money. Of course that means the issue is money because they want the public to fund the monorail (hence the very comopolitan look of the route from the MtS site displayed...

WDW Named a Terrorist Attack Site

Epcot71 - Yes, they could crop-dust WDW with Anthrax...however one has to consider the reality of biologic and chemical agents. They are VERY difficult to get to actually work as weapons. Dust-cropping from planes requires absolutely perfect wind conditions and even then it is considered...

WDW Named a Terrorist Attack Site

In my current job (due to people feeling I'm creative) I was asked to evaluate threats to data centers for clients on the East Coast. In this role we had lots of discussions about what terrorists would attack and why; trying to think from their point of view of wanting to. We rated data center...

    Guest Service? Sometimes... sometimes not...

I cannot agree... An earlier post states that Disney still has the best customer service for hotels in the world. I cannot argue that may be true from the poster's point of view, I disagree. I travel as a consultant for a Big 5 firm (over 100,000 miles last year) and stay in Marriott, Hilton...

Honeymoon resort- down to two choices(AKL or WL)???

The fire torches were going last week - not sure if it was a gas issue or perhaps the ongoing drought they've been having - they still don't have all of their fountains on.

help! lost reservation to royal table breakfast!

Disney holds tables aside for day guests so not everything is already booked up prior to arrival. If you don't get in by calling and trying to get a cancelation (which is possible), you can show up at the reservation stand in the castle and make a reservation in person on the day you want to...

    Staying after hours??

Not sure how popular it is in WDW, but in Disneyland they find an average of 13 people trying to stay in the park after closing during peak hours. When I was a cast member I used to stay behind - one night I forgot I had parked in regular instead of cast parking and had to beg a security guy on...

    FastPass Phase 2

We do the same thing - one of us shops with the kids while the other grabs the FP's. We have a young family so many of the FP rides our kids can't enjoy yet but we go ahead and get the FP's with their tickets and either use them ourselves or give them to other people.

Honeymoon resort- down to two choices(AKL or WL)???

AKL is a cool property, but WL is more romantic. Consider the boat option alone!

    RnR too loud?

It's not too loud but at 6'2" my ears are above the speakers so I don't hear it full force. I wonder if the speakers are too low so they crank the volume so taller people can hear it? Or are there multiple speakers in the headset - never bothered to look.

    Favorite Classic Song?

Makin' Memories What a shame that they couldn't keep the song by moving it to another part of the attraction or playing it in the queue line prior to the pre-show. My favorite not on the list is the entire musical score for America Sings. Again, what a bummer they didn't keep that...

Which extinct attraction do you miss the most???

World of Motion Having worked for GM for three years at their GM Proving Ground in Milford, MI among other places, I find Test Track boring. I truly miss World of Motion with its Fun To Be Free song and history of transportation. Oh well...hopefully I'll find some good video of it so I can...

    Free Pop?

Let's Put This One To Bed Okay. Despite what everyone wants to believe, no, Disney does not get it's Coca-Cola supply for free. According to a friend of mine that works for the Coca-Cola Company who has looked into the issue, the local bottling company sells the syrup to Disney World and it...

How about a new Disney resort with Character?

Back in the day when I was a cast member at Disney reservations in 1990, Imagineering held a contest for ideas with 10 internships as the grand prizes. I suggested a 5 star resort based on the Disney characters themed into five areas: Cartoons, Villans, Heroes, Classics and Silly Symphonies...
