What's wrong with picking a team to root for if your team didn't make it?

That's what I did, and I'm thrilled they won!

There's a difference between rooting for ad becoming a die hard.

I remember after the Phillies won the World Series, all of a sudden Virginia Tech was covered in red, and half the people couldn't name 5 Phils.:lol:

Happened in central FL for that WS too. Everyone became a Rays fan all of a sudden and the Trop was selling out when they weren't even pulling like 15k in a game. :hammer: Also went down in O-town last year when the Magic made the Finals.

It's cool to cheer for one team over another, but there's a point where you just hop on that bandwagon. Haaaaate it. And it seems as though it's a big thing with this Bowl.

I have to agree. We get a LOT of that up here because we have "double teams"

Giants & Jets
Yankees & Mets
Rangers & Devils (maybe the Islanders, but we don't talk about them)
Nets & Knicks

Notice which ones are listed first - those are the teams I consider myself a fan of. I will support the other teams if they are in the playoffs, but I don't considermyself a fan. Least of all the Devils, but thats because there is a bit of an interfamily thing there (my brother married a Devils fan)

In the Super Bowl, honestly I was rooting for the Colts, only because of that damn "Who Dat" slogan. It is really giving the Superbowl Shuffle a run as the most asinie slogans/promos in sports.

Anyway, the Saints played a good game and they took some risks that ended up paying off for them. They worked for it, and deserved the win.

I just don't get how the natural followup to the question became "nobody!" when for most of the team's history the answer was "pretty much anybody who wants to!" :lookaroun

(Seriously, though...were they chanting "Who dat?" and "Nobody!" after 3-13 seasons?)

Anyway, I'm no hater. It was a fun game to watch and I'm sure they're enjoying it down on the Gulf.

Personaly I find it annoying. The way it's shouted and the god awful grammar.

It also really has nothing to do with the way the "who dat" answer/response thing was done in minstrel shows. Maybe because that's where I heard it first is why the current incantation where it is just being screamed (or at times rapped) grates on me.

As far as calling themselves "the Who Dat Nation" I am of the opinion that once a team / franchise / party starts to refer to themselves as a "nation" they really need to go back to the drawing board and blow the dust off of something else.

Most chants are not anything special, but there are some that make me want to reach out and smack people, and not because they are not "my team" I thought the Islanders chant of "1940" against the Rangers was a good one - and I am a Rangers fan.

In the end it all comes down to your own personality, and the "Who Dat" is the biggest reason I was hoping the Colts would win.

It is something we say..and have been saying for a long time!..It is in songs and we wear it on shirts...and we like it..and that is that..:D

If you were from here you would understand and feel differently...

We say it even when it is not football season..I was in WDW once and my husband had a Saints hat on and someone screamed Who Dat and waved to us..and we screamed it back!..It is what we do..:D

Like you said..it all comes down to your own personality and people like different things!..

We like Who Dat!..and we will continue to say it, wear it, sing it, scream it..whatever!
