Where else do Disney fans vacation?

Over the years we have found ourselves cutting back on taking vacations to places besides Disney. For instance, we used to take the family to places like Washington DC, Bahamas, Mexico, other places of interest, and once in awhile, we would sprinkle in a trip to Disney. As of the past few years, we seem to spend all of our vacation time at Disney, with a few short getaways in between.

It goes something like this:
East Coast
Disney
Mexico
Six Flags,
Washington
Disney
Bahamas
Mexico
Chicago
Disney
St Louis
Disney
Chicago
Disney
Disney
Disney
Disney.............

What are the vacationing habits of some of the rest of the folks on here?

Well we like to keep it simple over here in the UK :p

Myself and my family go to Cornwall alot! We have a holiday home/lodge down there and go down Numerous times a year and we love it down there, especially the Go-Karting and the lovely weather!

We are going to Italy for the first time, well my first time, this September with some family friends of ours.

We have been to Paris, ofcourse to do to DLP but also just to stay in Paris itself..

Edinburgh, Manchester (For Football), Liverpool etc etc but it is mainly cornwall we go to mainly!

With my family I have traveled all over Europe and we also do a lot of Caribbean/Island vacations (Jamaica, Cayman, Turks & Caicos, Aruba, etc.).

When I travel on my own dime it's usually Disney, or a cruise, or Vegas, because international vacations are too expensive for me right now. I also travel/drive a lot around the Eastern and Southern U.S. Less so on the West, although I did live in LA for about 6 months.

I've been all over Europe in my time but have mostly come to Florida since being old enough to choose and pay for my own vacations. Since meeting my wife 10 years ago we've had every year bar one in Florida when we went to Vegas two years back. I suppose my dad owning a place near Haiines City has made it easier also.

well our Disney trip from "soup to nuts" probably costs us at least 3500.00 so any other vacations would NOT be budget permitting. We have been going to Disney once a year making this our yearly vacation. But we take day trips through out the year. (Sesame Place in PA.,) (Lake George, NY,) (Claws in Paws in PA), (Massanutten Lodge in VA), My Aunt has a condo in PA with a lake and huge community Pool, we go camping ..... Little places like that:)

Here is my Vacation Habits to the best of my recollection, only counting trips requiring a plane ride. Jersey Shore and Lake George weekends in the summer are common, as are trips up to Boston.

Hawaii
DisneyLand
Punta Cana (July)

Disney dominates my vacation dollar.

Disney's Hilton Head Resort. When we want a quiet relaxing vacation with that Disney touch. The resort is on an island next to a marina. They have a separate beach house. You can take the shuttle or rent a bike. The bike trails are awesome and you can ride on the beach. The low country boil at the beach house is fun.

There are other places to vacation? :veryconfu :lookaroun

I rarely go too many other places but I have gone to the Bahamas, Philadelphia, Greece, California, Virginia, and this summer I am going to Bermuda. I also take a lot of NYC and Atlantic City day trips.

We're really all over the place in our habits. After our WDW trip this August, our visits to Disney will probably be extremely short ones until some time after FLE is done. I have family in S FL, so trips to FL are no biggie (i.e. a day or 2 up to WDW). Just to give you an idea- since our WDW in Dec 2010, we've been to NOLA and Cancun. After WDW in August, we were supposed to go skiing in Utah, but with airfare- we're looking at time in the TX Hill Country instead, maybe Vegas, definitely back to NOLA, and if all goes well- Maui. As much as we enjoy WDW- we also need to work in Alaska, we want to make it back to the UK and spend a chunk of time in Scotland, and want to introduce the kiddos to Yellowstone and Grand Teton. DH also wants to start looking at Australia.

We went to Naples Florida during Spring Break we have also been to Destin and Chicago during the last year. While I love the beach it is a lot of work with 4 kids under 6. One of the 1000's of reasons I love WDW is because my kids are busy and don't fight:) My in-laws have a home in Naples so we are kind of stuck going back and forth for Spring Break. To be honest I am OK with not going to WDW for Spring Break, I hate crowds. We also have family that lives in Chicago so we go 3x a year to see them, have lunch at American Girl and see all of the great Muesumes. My husband and I are headed to Seattle for our first adult trip EVER since having the kids in July and back too Chicago in August before taking off to WDW over Labor Day.
Our dream vacation is to drive out West and hit all of the goofy land marks and National Parks and land in Disney Land, Griswold style...but my baby needs to be a bit older:)

Didn't think anyone went anywhere else. All our spare change, all the extra money we find goes into the "next trip to Disney" fund. Sure we take small insignificant trips to other places, but those aren't vacations.
When we walk into the AAA building my travel agent smiles and says " OK when's the Disney trip going to take place ? " Any one who knows us would be shocked if they heard us say we were going anywhere else.

Well, our family uses WDW as our "consistent vacation", but we are constantly going to new places around the country/world, often on elaborate road trips to various parts of the US, seeing different national parks and sites along the way.

We do, though, make frequent day trips to St. Louis, where we visit the zoo and Gateway Arch, as well as weekend trips to Chicago, where we take in the Shedd Aquarium, Michigan Avenue, Millennium Park, and whatever Broadway musicals are touring at the moment. Both make better weekend getaway trips than anything you'll find in Southwest Indiana ;). Usually we'll do these at least once a year. We also have family in Alabama, so we find ourselves in Birmingham (that's the American one for you UK folks ) several times a year and Mobile almost annually.

We also make frequent vacations to some non-WDW places that are technically still Disney, all through the magic of DVC. ;). We've got a week in Vero Beach next week at Disney's resort there, which we seem to do every few years (often combined with trips to WDW), although we've also visited their resort in Hilton Head. And then we also take a cruise every summer through Disney Cruise Line, whether it's a 3-night cruise through the Bahamas to Nassau and Castaway Cay, or the more lengthy 10- and 11-night cruises through the Mediterranean and Scandinavia (we've done 6 of these now). Then you've got the odd trip to Disneyland every now and then.

We go to the Outer Banks of NC every July for a week and to Memphis, TN every August for two weeks and part of that is spent in MS at the casinos. Whoo hoo...We do mini trips thru the year also, to Williamsburg, VA and sometimes go to Ohio to visit friends.

We spend a week at the beach (Amelia Island) every year.
We spend a week somewhere in the mountains every other year (this is one of them)
We take a BIG trip overseas every few years (this is one of them)

We live in FL, so WDW is usually just a long weekend. And we spend long weekends around the country (and sometimes Canada) on business, sporting events, or visiting family.

We have been to Disney 11 times and 12th is in 72 days!! We have also been to Hawaii but that was with Adventures by Disney so I guess that is Disney. We have also been to Spain. We take long weekend trips to see family in MA. Have been to Ocean City and Williamsburg. As you can see Disney also takes all our vacation budget and we love it and dont see it changing anytime soon!! Hope to do Dinsey done up for Christmas again in 2012 but we will see...much harder with on in College and one still in high school.

We have a similar tendency. In the last years we either stay in Germany and to trips to our mountains (Harz, Rhön, Ore Mountains etc.) or go to FloridaThe trips to Florida are becoming pure WDW-trips. The last time we stayed more than half of our time in Florida at the World, in 2007 it was "only" a third. And when I visited Florida in 1991 it was less than a week. The next trip to Florida will be a pure WDW-vacation, two weeks and we will leave Florida after the end of our stay as we know the rest already and e.g. Miami also has lost a lot of attractivity to us.
