Where else do Disney fans vacation?

We enjoy taking Caribbean cruises. My husband isn't exactly the Disney fanatic I am so I just have to "suffer through it" so I can get back to my happy place! Went to Las Vegas two years ago and had a nice time but much prefer Disney. My idea of gambling is getting to DHS around 10:00 am and hoping to still get a fastpass for Toystory.

For our family it is understood that we will vaca in Disney. We have taken other vacations in the past but since our first trip to WDW....well that was it. Disney ruined all other locations for us. Weve tried other locations but within hours someone in our family inevitably comments...."its just not quite the same". WDW is it for us.

There are other places to vacation? :veryconfu :lookaroun

Didn't think anyone went anywhere else. All our spare change, all the extra money we find goes into the "next trip to Disney" fund. Sure we take small insignificant trips to other places, but those aren't vacations.
When we walk into the AAA building my travel agent smiles and says " OK when's the Disney trip going to take place ? " Any one who knows us would be shocked if they heard us say we were going anywhere else.

That's us to a "T" too; right down to our AAA agent (well, CAA up here) knowing full well why we are in the office around "that" time of year! :ROFLOL:

Luyaca Freeport Bahamas

My husband and I just returned from Freeport Bahamas. You know you are Disney fan when you go shopping and tell your husband I found a hidden Mickey and he says I did too. I don't know if ya'll will think they are hidden in Mickey's but when you are in the Bahamas and find a Mickey to me it is hidden. We even saw a cloud we thought looked like Mickey. Also when your food arrives and you say, I feel a Disney moment and take pictures of it. The first picture is the one my husband found. The 2nd is my hidden Mickey. The 3rd is the cloud Mickey.

DH and I used to travel to other places usually when I was able to combine work trips with vacations. We've been to San Francisco twice, Bahamas, Cancun, Washington DC, Atlanta, Houston, Las Vegas twice and I've been to southern California twice without DH. Since I became obsessed with WDW about five years ago, it's been our only vacation destination. We can only afford one vacation a year so now it's all Disney. We have discussed going to the TCM film festival in Hollywood some time but I told him we'd have to go to Disneyland and California Adventure.

I've taken several weekend trips up to Boston as well as down to Virginia Beach to visit friends and explore. In Boston I went to a Yankee/Red Sox game and was forced by my friend to leave my Yankees cap home. Its a beautiful stadium, despite my fandom lies on the opposing side.

I've made 2 trips to Vegas. One with family for a week during Easter in a timeshare. One with friends for 4 days at the Excalibur. I had more fun on the 4 day trip:lookaroun

I'd go to Vegas more, but its cheaper to do a weekend in Atlantic City at Caesars Palace since its only a 90 min drive usually with traffic.

I did a trip in college to Cancun. I can't legally make any more comments about that trip. It is however a place I would love to return to. The ruins nearby are breathtaking as well (All I can discuss)

I toured several parts of Ireland (Dublin, Galway, County Claire, Cork) by train and bus (I really was too scared to attempt to drive on the opposite side of th road). :lookaroun This was my favorite trip so far :lookaroun I attended the Galway Races, traveled in a tiny boat in a lake surrounded by mountains. Explored one little village after another. Drank a LOT of Guinness. Got attacked by Gypsies for being American. It was more an adventure than a vacation.

I spent a few days in London in the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I had so little time to explore beyond some of the tourist traps I was disappointed. I plan on going back on my own and in a better hotel. After that I was driven up to see Stonehenge (was rushed through that which annoyed me), toured Bath for a few hours (interesting place I would recommend), then spend some time in the Wales, where I hiked.

Mall of America. It was

NYC: I don't count it as a vacation since it never is. Its usually for work, concert, baseball game, pub crawl, and I rarely stay overnight (cept for when I do that last one). The tourist traps are awful 99.9% of the time, everyone I know who goes to them complains and I go "Told ya." Bryant Park despite near Times Square is amazing to visit in the summer. This is my lunching place. Christmas is the only time I get touristy. I love to see the tree and store windows, despite some instances where the crowds make me wanna :brick: then hop a subway to somewhere away from them. Bryant Park has a free skating rink and they build a glass lounge that overlooks it that I splurge for a drink at.

In the fall I may visit some friends who moved out to LA. I don't think I'll get to Disneyland, despite never going. I will save the $ instead for a 2012 WDW trip. Also I plan on seeing a taping of Conan.

Its a big world out there and while you can go to EPCOT and see little snippets of some places, its nothing like the real thing.

For us, it's been:

Disney World

Mountains of NC

Outer Banks, NC

Outer Banks, NC

Outer Banks, NC

Gettysburg PA, Hershey PA, Niagara Falls, NY and Canada (Yes, all in one trip)

Europe: London, Scotland, Paris

Gettysburg, PA (my family loves history and my dad is a civil war buff)

Outer Banks, NC

San Francisco (my oldest brother lives near there)

Disney World

Disney World

Outer Banks, NC

Disney World

The only other thing we've done is day trips to Busch Gardens Williamsburg & Kings Dominion.

WDW is our vacation destination of choice. However, we travel a great deal. We've been to the World in March/Apr and will be there again in September (an unplanned trip to celebrate my recovery from cancer surgery). In October we're going to Branson, MO and then to New Orleans for my wife's professional meeting. Anyway, our trips often include other meetings, the American Legion, NRA, ASHI, my wife's medical meeting or trips to see the grandchildren.

We like to go to the annual toonfest in Marceline, Missouri, Walt Disney's Boyhood Home. This years is Sept 17th. (marceline.com and marceline.org)
There is a Walt Disney museum there, the house that Walt once lived in (you can still see where he painted with tar on the side of the red barn today), and lots of interesting Disney things to see.

If we cant get to the world, we take trips to the beaches of the southern states. In the winter time, we goto Kalahari resort in Ohio, its a great indoor waterpark and has great theming, akin to WDW.
