Unlimited Fastpasses, Two Disney Hotels, and a Chef’s Table – It’s all Good Until Somebody Barfs

I just got back from the Happiest Place on Earth! And oh how I love it there. Disneyland is my home away from home. We spent so much time there when we lived in California and I have so many wonderful memories of it. I don’t get there near as often as I like anymore. So when some training was offered for travel agents, I knew I was there!

Who – Me of course! And Pam, Missy and Dani were coming for training too! There was a whole gaggle of Kingdom Konsultants! Well, is four a gaggle? Maybe not, but it was still fun! Here we all are from left to right Tammy, Missy, Pam and Dani:

DisneylandTrainingDay326.jpg

When – August 22nd -August 27th

Where – 4 nights at the Grand Californian and one at the Disneyland Hotel

What – Some agent training and some fun!

Catch phrase of the trip – “It’s all good until somebody barfs.” Don’t worry, nobody actually barfed. :) More on that later…

Now when the bill, came it wasn’t so great, lol. Missy realized she could have bought a week’s worth of groceries for her entire family, for the price of her meal alone.

About that point a man came up behind us and said, “So these are the people that took the Chef’s Table reservations meaning I couldn’t get one.” We offered to let him pay for ours so he would feel more like he ate there, but he declined for some reason. :D

Our meal lasted three and ½ hours and at one point we were laughing so hysterically that the catch phrase came out. Quietly though so as not to offend the chef!

Was it worth it? Yes! Would I do it again? Probably not, simply because of cost. It was definitely worth it once though.

So what to do next? We had unlimited Fastpasses to use! Unfortunately we had also just eaten for 3 and ½ hours straight and had a long day behind us. The siren call of the room was too much to resist, and we did the lamest thing you could ever do when you have an unlimited Fastpass. We went to bed.

I will hang my head in shame now.

Catching up!

Next was the Hotel Menage which I’ve toured before and am fairly impressed with. It’s not close enough to walk, but it’s a quick shuttle ride away.

The suites were awesome:

I've wondered about the Menage for a while! I'm glad you went there. And if you're impressed with it then that's a good thing. I thought it looked kinda boutique-y (which is normally JUST my thing) but had a hard time with the name. Menage has a way of potentially leading the mind where it shouldn't go when thinking about Disneyland. Ya know? Sheesh! It does look nice, tho. I don't think I'd stay anywhere that was walkable if I stayed offsite. The close places do nothing for me. I know about the ART (I've even studied the routes to know which ones have the fewest stops) but I wonder how much it would cost to catch a cab. And where do cabs drop off at near the parks? Taking a cab isn't always the best route...ie. telling a cab driver to take you to the MK from a WDW resort is virtually useless....

Look at how fun this family was in all different ears:

DisneylandTrainingDay3b87_zps5c76910f.jpg

Well, except for the lone dud in the group over there on the right side. Someone shoulda stood near their table, pointed at him, and asked really loud, "What's wrong with THAT GUY?!?! Too cool for school?!?!" LOL! Cute group, tho. Shall we take some cues for the girls cruise here???

Here was an adorable cake about to go out:

Cake!!!! OMG! Must close my eyes! I didn't see that! I'm not dying for cake!!!!! I'm not! Now I'm off to go dig some leafy rabbit food out of the fridge to crunch on....

Tammy, the Napa Rose pictures look soooooo good! But is it really that expensive?

Happy Birthday, Pam! I think I might have challenged you to an arm wrestling match to lick the chocolate words off your plate. Just sayin'! I hope I don't embarrass y'all too much next September... :D

I think these pictures just put 2 lbs. on my butt. Thank you. I'm crying now. I want something sweet SO BAD!!!!!!

It's hard to imagine dining for 3 1/2 hours. Do you get up and walk around at all? I'd get so restless. The sticker-shock was funny. I was hoping the guy would pick up your checks! LOL! I was thinking the Napa Chef's Table might need to be added to my list of to-do's but I think you sufficiently scared me with the price tag. I love a good meal but it ain't all that for me. But if someone else was paying...oh yeah! I'd do it! LOL!

Really?! No cashing-in on unlimited fastpass??? What the heck?! I bet your kids had a total Whaaaaaa moment on that one! LOL!

Love it, Tammy! I so wanna go to California!!!!!!

It is boutiquey!! And yes I know. To add to the confusion, the first time I toured it, they told us it was more of an adult hotel. We were all worried, lol!

It is super close. Less than a mile I'm guessing? You could walk if there wasn't a big ole interstate in between the two. The taxis drop off close!

Yes, I don't know what was up with the dude, lol.

Napa Rose is expensive, the Chef's Table was a bit crazy. I think my meal was $125 with a tip? No alcohol.

I'm down with that. Do they sell ears on the ship?

They do! Not that many choices though!

I know. I should have put a disclaimer - don't look if you're on a diet. :)

I got up once. It really didn't feel that long. There was so much to see! And eat!!

I'm not usually someone who spends a lot on food. I'm usually just as happy walking out of Chilli's as I am out of a super expensive restaurant. But this was a splurge and there was only one of me! :) It was worth it.

WOW!! That is expensive! Is it like that for a regular table?

Sure you will! It'll fly by! Then I'll be th one jealous. You get a whole week. I get 3 days. You're definitely getting the better deal!

Ok, we can both be jealous then ;)

In the immortal words of Jack Skellington, "What is this?!?" A theme park that is fresh and vibrant with a lively shopping district not filled with empty clubs/stores. And not a single DVC stand in sight? It's like WDW died and went to heaven. ;)

Love your pictures, btw! :D

Saturday, August 25 – More Training, Hotel Tours and a Dessert Party!

Today we had a great start planned! All of the agents were having breakfast with Minnie and friends at the Plaza Inn! Missy was very excited when she realized this was the same restaurant she’d where she’d eaten when she was 7! I was amazed at some of the things she remembered!

We were up in plenty of time of course and we met everyone outside the gates.
