Two coasts: One very different world

You have no idea of the potential evils of NextGen.
All will be revealed eventually, much to the dismay of fans and the general guest population.
I believe it. In everything I've read about it, I haven't seen one thing that would enhance the guest experience, resort guest or otherwise. Which makes it even more sad considering all the money they've blown on it.

Though I guess at least, if it really does suck as much as it is seeming like it will, like you pointed out, Disney could end up with a fan revolt/general public revolt (judgement day ;) ). If it proves that unpopular and that detrimental to their bottom line (kind of hope it does), they you'd hope they'd get rid of it.

I wish that would help, but it is unstoppable at this point, and i fear will bring WDW its own 8/29/1997 at some point.
nice reference.....that would make you john connor?
edit to add:
jimmy thick= arnold in first movie obvious
Jto4 = robert patrick both can so easily change shape

I'd take that roll! She's pretty bad . :) And I totally think I could take jimmy ;) Though I'm not sure I could pull off her 80s hair cut from the first movie...:D

Maybe 74 overstated his case. Carsland is getting more attention as well it should. But you need look no further than this site to find fans over-reacting to the pictures of the play area. 74's point is valid.
His point is not valid in this case. There is no greater reaction to Casey's than Carsland. Even the post count between the two topics in their appropriate boards are about the same (albeit spread across a few threads in the DLR section).
I think a reaction to two projects which Disney promoted today qualifies as news. A couple days ago someone posted a thread about a homeless guy with a white beard.
That's your opinion one the mods seem to share at the moment. I personally don't care where is goes, but let's not pretend is has news or rumors. This thread is the equivalent of the news reporting about itself.

Bottom line is '74 floated a hypothesis and it is incorrect. He didn't overstate his case. He clearly stated it and he's wrong. It's really no big deal other than the fact people are flocking in here to prop up his point of view, which is wrong at the time he posted it (I have no idea now as I'm not going to spend the night counting twitter post and refreshing web pages).

74----

You're one of the main reasons I visit this site. I love your posts and agree with most of them.

But I gotta call out your comparison.

Wait another year (or 2) and compare the entirely of FLE with Carsland, not just a small element that coincidentally was finished by contractors the same week. (Sure, Carsland will likely win by a mile. But at least it's a fair fight.)

But also one or two years from now, we need to keep in mind the investments being made to the most popular theme park in the world compared to Disney's most troubled park (and the issue of being a true "attraction" to get more people thru the turnstile versus "added capacity" to provide breathing room for the people who keep flooding in despite no major additions since 1992)

A more fair comparison would be investments at DCA versus WDW's half-day parks (take your pick of DHS or AK): How does Carsland stack up to a Yeti-free Everest or....is RnRC really the newest major addition to DHS???

THAT, to me, is the outrage of it all. Say what you want about people flocking to a stale MK. You still get more bang for your buck there than most of the other WDW parks. I'm more troubled that TDO has manipulated ticket pricing to encourage the sale of multi-day tickets, even though the offerings at 2 of the parks are not even worth the "bulk discount" price, and certainly not the full single-day price.

A kids play fountain is not the issue. But, as you do effectively point out, there ARE issues.

See now you are over-stating your case. That's not exactly what 74 said. It's okay. It can happen to anyone.

Wait a second, wasn't this discussion supposed to be about the levels of quality in Cars Land vs. Storybook Circus? This isn't about E tickets vs. C tickets, it's about QUALITY.

Toy Story Mania isn't considered a major addition to Studios when it has the longest lines in the park?

Not sure if this relates, but felt it was worth adding to the conversation.
As many here on this Forum are aware, i am a real fan of Walt Disney World. Like many here, i visit every year and usually love every second of it. The past couple of years however things have been different...not as exciting, not as..well...*Magical*. It could well just be me getting too familar with the place....but i am a self confessed Disney geek who up until recently lived and breathed WDW.

Things have changed. I have had a taste of the West Coast life.
Just returned earlier this week from DisneyLand...before DCA officially re-opened. What i saw at both of those Parks, even at this pre-opening stage, wowed me. It has been a long time. I have been spoiled by the details and numerous new experiences. Me like.

Within two days of returning home, i have decided to return to DisneyLand for my usual autumn *Disney Trip*....NOT Walt Disney World. Part of me is shocked...but then, i feel drawn to all the new experiences out West. I am really looking forward to it...as i cant find anything at the moment to really get excited about in Florida at this point.

Perhaps it is a sign of the times? How many more of you long time, serious WDW fans are blowing off FL this year and going to Walt*s Park instead?

I am. See ya there.

Carsland debuts to rave reviews, and from what I can see, well deserved. Rumors tumbling out of USO about Potter 2.0, and a possible Transformers attraction or something else entirely, but exciting none the less. And at WDW, duel Dumbos and a water play area. I am as big a fan of WDW as anyone, and even I am struggling with all this today. I want something major, I want something ground breaking, I want something to make me come back to WDW this year. Oh well, I guess it's gonna be a trip out to the original this year.

I understand that feeling. I've been waiting for Disney to wow me with a new attraction at an exisiting park since 1994 when ToT opened. I've been waiting for anything really since DAK opened in 1998. ... Disney has opened some 'nice' things since (much more crap though to be fair), but nothing that makes you go WOW!

And the thing is, they aren't really planning on it ... and if Soarin Over Pandora doesn't happen, well then there is absolutely nothing at all and WDW will keep living stuck in time, like a poorly maintained museum.

The thing is, though, fans that get excited by kiddie fountains (my folks wouldn't have taken me to the MK if that was the type of entertainment Disney offered in the 70s because they could have let me play in a kiddie pool that you'd pick up at K-Mart of run through the sprinkler and save a lot of money!) are honestly part of the problem. I don't give two shovels of Pixie Dust how nicely themed you may think this fountain is because it shouldn't be given any significance unless you want to drag a wet 4-year-old around the MK all day.

It's like people are so desperate for something, anything that new restrooms and planters get fanbois hot and bothered.

BTW, since I like to namedrop and all, I 'may' have just spoken with Mater himself live from the grammatically funky Disney California Adventure Park in beautiful Anaheim!:)
