The New Fantasyland

Seems to be plotted within the "Dumbo" mini-land. Pretty good idea. Very nice. Considering that much of the movie Dumbo takes place on a train!

I'm not sure what those faint train tracks are that runs through part of the dumbo area. The darker tracks in the corner are the present tracks and doesn't look like they are moving since the station is still there, under its new name, Fantasyland Train Station

The Dumbo area is the largest of the mini-lands. This could be either: 1) They are leaving space for future expansion...shops, small rides, etc. 2) There is more to this area than can be seen on the plans (i.e. Kim Possible type addition).

I mean, we know the ride is popular, but if you add a whole new Dumbo to alleviate long-waits on the ride, then why do you need an interactive queue because the wait will be dramatically decreased with two of them anyway. Unless they are upgrading Dumbo a great deal, I cannot see why it needs such a large land and an interactive queue considering two of them will solve most of the problems. I mean, it is not Soarin' popular....

Just wondering out loud...thoughts?

A couple thoughts looking at these plans.

*The "Castle Wall" idea is brilliant. It allows them to keep the "Medieval Faire" look for the west side of Fantasyland (which, although not the most attractive area, would be a waste of money to change when $$ could be better spent elsewhere, which appears to be the case)

*The Double Dumbo is great, especially with what looks like an indoor queue. Assuming this area will be circus themed, it makes perfect sense to put it alongside the railroad station. Also, is that an extra section of railroad track jutting into the area? It would be fun to see Casey Jr. parked right next to the real track.

*I find it interesting that the blueprints show the ride vehicle paths for Snow White and Pooh, but not Mermaid. I'm sure they just left them off the drawing. But for now it opens up speculation that Mermaid could be a "trackless" ride (after all, why would they duplicate Nemo's Clam-mobile?). I know I'm stretching at this one!

*The Cinderella building looks just a tad too small to hold a dark ride. Perhaps it (or the Aurora or Belle attractions) is something similar to the Disneyland castle walk-thru?

*I wonder if "Be Our Guest" is the animatronic Tiki Room-style show originally planned for DLP. Perhaps they've converted that into a restaurant dinner show? Or maybe Gaston's is the restaurant, and BOG is a separate attraction?

*The only oddity in this plan is Barnstormer. I know they wouldn't just rip out a coaster like that. Maybe it's being left as-is for now, with the possibility of a "Phase 2", converting it into the rumored Seven Dwarves Mine (which would fit PERFECTLY with the rest of the new FL)

*Does anyone see a place for a Mickey Mouse meet-and-greet? Surely they cannot be getting rid of that. If not in FL, maybe they're moving him elsewhere in the park? (Exposition Hall on Main St. would be great for something like that.)

I agree that stuck out as soon as I looked at the plans. Dumbo is taking up a very large piece of land. Those faint train tracks that seem to go no where are confsung as well. I'm thinking they might have a stationary Dumbo Train there simply for themeing purposes. It seems restrooms are also being placed in the Dumbo area so that is taking up some of the room.

They could get rid of Fastpass for PhilharMagic and put him where the Fastpass kiosks are now. That way we get rid of Fastpass on an attraction that doesn't need it and Mickey is in an appropriate location.

Agree, as is it will be the "attraction without a land."

No, not at all.:eek::(

But seriously...This looks big, and almost final. They don't draw up plans for nothing, right?

Agreed, totally. I've said for a week or two that "where there's smoke, there's fire"... And there's been a LOT of smoke on this topic. I just don't want to get TOO worked up yet, just in case.

This would give me a GREAT reason to bring my family back to our "home" resort, rather than dragging them all over the globe to other MK style parks!! :D

My counterarguments to this would be:

-Attractions like the Skyway, Enchanted Tiki Room, Carousel of Progress, Hall of Presidents, Peoplemover, Monorail, and the Railroad were designed to give parents a rest while still being entertained (along with the kids). You didn't need playgrounds when all of these attractions were there and refreshed periodically.

-Why do the playgrounds have to be in the parks taking up valuable real estate. Why can't thy be built outside the park gates or at the hotels (where they belong). How can anyone justify and say the PSP is fine when a huge family eticket used to sit on the same spot. We lost a great ride and great capacity and Disney "makes up for it" by building a playground for ADD kids.

Parks aren't just for people on the go-go-go. Sometimes kids need to burn up energy too while the parents relax. Sitting on a ride isn't going to do this. But you would just have everyone leave the parks. As a soon to be parent I KNOW one day I am going to LOVE sitting there eating some Figaro Fries with my wife watching our child have fun (and give us some downtime).

I think they'd need much more space than that for a queue and to have multiple Mickeys. But good idea.

But by adding lots of space for retail in other parts of New FL, so maybe one of the existing shops in the Castle Courtyard could become Meet Mickey?

I'm kind of expecting that. I mean, he has been there before.

Exposition Hall would be perfect. They already have side doors, so people would not need to track through the store there to get to Mickey (The ones to the right where Chip n' Dale and Pinnochio usually hang out). It is a big place with plenty of room for lines, multiple Mickey rooms (or rooms for the other main characters), and most importantly, it ALREADY has A/C. Plus, he seems to 'belong' more on Main Street than anywhere else in the park.

Beyond the store, it is kind of a 'waste of space' (Believe me, I am not complaining as I loved going in there to cool down as there is never any crowd in there), but could really be great once themed.
