Team Cape Breton does the Vorld and the Vonder (Trip report May 1-9)

Hellooooo my lovelies!

This is the trip report to go with the pre-TR (http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=559883) for May 1-9, time divided between Pop Century and the Disney Wonder. Most things stayed the same, but let me break it down for ya.

There was Paige:

Erica:

Lauren:

And me, Kenzie:

We’ve all known each other for ages, going to the same schools since grade school, and were pretty tight in high school. Paige, Lauren and I go to the same university (Mount Allison hollla whatttt), and Erica parties at St. FX (boooooo).

And our story begins..

DAY 4: I’m a dustologist

We were up and ready by 8AM. Epic on all fronts, when you think about it. We made our way down to guest services to try to make a reservation for a character breakfast or lunch in our last two days. I wasn’t entirely convinced, but the lady was very nice and laughed her rear end off when Paige asked if “there were any openings for dining with animals”. Much to my surprise, we got a reservation at 1900 Park Fare for 9:05AM the following day.

Now, I suppose it should be mentioned that we’d been using the 300$ gift certificate we got when we booked our trip for our food. AKA, we had paid nothing for our meals thus far into the trip, and we still had a good amount left (more than enough to cover a 22$ character breakfast). Hence the splurge.

Anyway, that excited us to no end and we chatted all the way to MK, where we arrived at 9:10ish. Keeping up with our oddball character meet and greets, we waiting in line for Pinocchio.

31811_1373213584782_1665060024_8611.jpg

IGNORE THE SNEAKERS, WE WERE HURTIN’

The Bakery was the next stop, as it is not a trip to Disney without a wonderfully massive cinnamon bun. Lauren and I shared one, while Paige and Erica each got their own breakfast.

31811_1373213664784_1665060024_8611.jpg

HAYYYY

It was about the time for Toon Town to open, so we high tailed it up to the fairy meet and greet. Tink is Paige’s favourite, so we waited the 30 minutes out with much laughter. We were tired at this point, and it was showing. If any of you were in line, I apologize.

31811_1373213704785_1665060024_8611.jpg

My fav picture spot at MK, I believe.

TINKERR

31811_1373213864789_1665060024_8611.jpg

SUP WITH THIS GUY? HE’S A DUSTOLOGIST.. AND PROUD OF IT

Byeeee Toon Town, "you'll be in my heartttttt, alwaysssss".
(Which reminds me, anyone else sad they took away the Tarzan show? It was one of my favs. Love that man in the loin cloth.. always so built and unattainable.)

31811_1373213984792_1665060024_8611.jpg

Tea cups were next.

31811_1373214024793_1665060024_8611.jpg

31811_1373214104795_1665060024_8611.jpg

SPIN SPIN SPIN

Followed by the Pooh Pots (as my Momma calls them) and It’s A Small World. Erica considered jumping over board.. but we got a nice picture before her attempted suicide.

31811_1373214264799_1665060024_8611.jpg

UPON SEEING AN EXIT SIGN, ERICA SUGGESTED WE JUMP OVER THE
MECHANICS OF THE RIDE IN ORDER TO ESCAPE.

And then Big Thunder Mountain. Lauren skipped out, so Paige, Erica and I got into the 35 minute line ourselves while she looked around and got FPs for Splash. The line wasn’t 35 minutes at all, though, it was a walk on. Since we were all scrunched into one seat we didn’t bang around too much. This was good news. I really enjoy BTMM but I can see how it would give some a headache.

After we got off the wildest ride in the wilderness we couldn’t find her, and so headed to Aloha Isle for some ice cream. Erica and Paige shared a rootbeer float and I got a pineapple swirl. Yummy. We did Splash again and then headed back to the busses after stopping to see Lilo and Stitch. Pop and the pool were calling our names.

EXPERIMENT 626 GETTING SOME CAPE BRETON LOVIN'.. ALOOOOHA.
The woman who took this photo was elderly, hence the crookedness. She was a doll though.

We hit the food court around 4PM and were at EPCOT by 5, ready to see the world.

LOOKIN’ WAY CLASSY

31811_1373214464804_1665060024_8611.jpg

OH YEAH, SOOOO CLASSY.

First, though, we waited at the character spot for the fab 5 (35 min).

LAUREN HATES BEING TOUCHED.. NATURALLY, ERICA DOES NOT CARE

M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E

Since we were all dolled up for no apparent reason and not getting any reactions from our winking victims.. I mean, prey.. I mean, targets? Anyway, we took some beauts. Here is where I show off my pretty friends:

We shopped and did World Showcase. Lauren was on a tear, which made the other two cranky (I’m slightly more used to her, we were BFFs in highschool). It was our spin day, but we saw a lot none the less.

FAV PRINCESS

I called home, got talked down by my momma because I was all emotional about everyone’s crankiness (and just missin the fam, honestly). Talked to Lauren when we got back and everyone started to blend a little better. Watched Illuminations from China. The trees were in our way but we still enjoyed it. I must have said that “I love the purple” 6 times.

28961_1373305187072_1665060024_8614.jpg

ROE!

We shopped in Mouse Gear for a little while to avoid the crowd at the busses and caught one at 10PM. Once again, we were asleep by 1115, but not until after we took some terrifying pictures.

Hahha, as Joel Plaskett (Maritime artist) would say.. Fashionable people doing questionable things! Honestly though, we tried pretty hard to look good hahahha.

Hahha thank you, Holly =) I asked a random girl to do this, before realizing she was with some exceptionally cute olda boys. They were yelling at us to *WORK IT* the entire time. We were dying laughing, hahah. Cruise coming up soon, promise!

DAY 5: Where are you from? Oh, Nova Scotia? GO BACKK! I mean, Welcome!

Stitch gave us a ring at 7AM. “NO SLEEPING!” and we got ready to go. Though we were at the bus stop at 8:05, the busses and monorail were not on our side, and we arrived at the Grand Floridian (or, as it is now known, the Grand Flo-ride-ian) at 9:20.

And so begins the story of our family. While we were chilling on the monorail to the Floridian, we shared a section of el monorail (standing clear of los puertas) with a family of four, plus the grandparents. The son refused to sit next to us, and the older sister was forced to grab some bench beside us four. She was unimpressed. The mother/father/gparents were super friendly, however, and we chatted before parting ways.. they were going to breakfast too. More on that later.

We were seated almost immediately, but there is this one shot:

And Mary Poppins:

The character interaction was fabulous, especially the Mad Hatter. He was hilarious, and the pictures are representative of that.

Took some more wonderful pictures before feeling out of place.. you can see we were getting silly at this point.. very attractive, though, don't you agree?

We were in Magic Kingdom by 11:15, and we danced along to Move it, Shake it on the way to meet the princesses. It was a 20 minute wait.

HELLLOOOOO FRIENDS

I’m wondering when you look ‘too old’ to do a posed shot. Lauren looks like she’s about to punch Cinderella and Erica is praying that Aurora won’t attack us.

Following the Princesses we looked around the Judge’s Tent and then headed into Fantasyland.

WHEN WE ARE 40, THIS MIGHT BE ACCEPTABLE
packs.. I'm sorry, but bad life decision

Hit up Snow White, as it was a 5 minute wait. This ride scares the poo out of me. Children must cry. We then ran into Peter Pan, who was very in character. Much love for that Peter.

28961_1373306307100_1665060024_8614.jpg

OFF TO NEVALAND

We waited 5 minutes for Philhar because I wanted to see it again, too some pictures, and headed to the monorail.

ANOTHER EMPTY BUS?!

We made it at 130, hit It’s Tough to be a Bug, which was another one of those rides that children cry hysterically on (and by children, I mean everyone under the age of 21.. we were not in good shape after that). We waited 30 minutes for Everest.

And then peaced, with the last minute decision to go to EPCOT to finish the World Showcase at Lauren's suggestion. Good life decisions. Nothing like a four park day. We arrived at 330, and shortly after a security guard took my glasses from ITTBAB.. Just mine =( No one else's.

WHO IS NORWAY?

The Electric Umbrella was our food stop, and Erica, Paige and I went all out.. purchasing the child’s chicken nuggets. It’s nice to get carrot sticks or grapes instead of something else. I was a big fan of that. We also got some candy at Mouse Gear before heading out.

Our fourth park of the day, HS, was ready for us at 515. After a half hour wait at the RnRC, followed by a half hour wait at the Tower we were ready to sit down. We were LOVING life in these lines.. mostly the one for the RnRC.. Lauren and Paige were just hilarious, I was sitting on the ground, and Erica was pretending we didn't exist. Essentially, we caused a scene, and the couple in front of us were NOT impressed. Whutev.

31811_1373330507705_1665060024_8615.jpg

SEWWWW TERRIFIED

31811_1373330547706_1665060024_8615.jpg

INAPPROPRIATEEE, sorry.

People were lined up for Fantasmic! at 7PM. We were planning on staying, but assumed that they were only waiting for the primo seats and we wouldn’t have to worry. The plan was to take off right before the end, hitting the busses before they got full anyway.

This was about the time that Paige called home, and Lauren decided that she was okay to miss the fireworks. She took off to DTD for some final shopping, and the three of us got in the single riders line for the RnRC. The wait was probably 25 minutes, but we were happy to get it in one more time. However, I had a little bit of a fit when a couple in the single riders line hopped the rope so they could sit together. I believe I said something along the lines of "DID THAT REALLY JUST HAPPEN". Super, super unimpressed. Then a father did it with his son. WHAT ARE YOU TEACHING YOUR CHILD WHEN YOU DO THAT. I hope he grows up to be a delinquent. For shame. Anyway, I sat next to a rather awkward teenage boy with Prince Charming hair that wasn’t too interested in chatting. Too bad for him, I talked his ear off.

By the time we escaped this line we were on an roller coaster high, but still exhausted from our four park day. Deciding it was time to secure an easy escape seat for Fantasmic!, we headed toward the now non-existant line. It was non-existant because it was standing room only. Bummer. There was another show at 10:30PM but there was no way we were making that. We said goodbye to the Studios and made the trek to the bus.

We were just pulling in to our stop when the bus for the Grand Floridian/Contemporary/Polynesian came around the bend. Somehow securing my second wind, I suggested we try to make it to MK for Wishes by bus/monorail. Paige passed, but Erica and I made the sprint and our highly unclassy selves took a seat among those more put together. It was 845 when we hit the Poly, and there was NO way we were making Wishes. We stopped, I hauled her out of her seat, and we went to locate the elusive beach to have a romantic fireworks date in the sand (like Nicole and Luke minus the BFF and little sister). This, by the way, is something I never would have thought to do before frequenting these forums.. so merci. ;)

AWWW, DATESSSSS

A child came up asking if alligators would hurt you. I said I would not pet one. Her mom came over and pulled her away.. we laughed, thinking she was joking. Nope. A very friendly man came over and told us that there was, in fact, an alligator in the water and suggested we not go near the H2O. Not a problem. One eye on Wishes, one eye on the little baby reptile with giant teeth.

Took a cab back to Pop, worth the 8$ each, and met up with the girls in the food court. I finally got my ice cream (cookies and cream and mint chocolate chip) and we packed up our things for our second vaca.. The Disney Wonder.

Your pics are so random & fun & spontaneous! I love it! That's soooo what it's all about. It makes following your adventure so much fun! The down side is my brother, mom, & aunt are going to WDW in a little over a week. My brother offered to pay for me to join them (since the hubby's been out of work for a little over a month) but I'm hesitant because of my mom-/wife-guilt. Ugh! I'd hate to ditch the hubby with the kids & the dog to go have fun at WDW but how often does a girl get offered a free adventure?! Double-ugh! My mom hasn't been to WDW in a bazillion years & has never stayed on-property. Golly I hate to miss her essential "first" adventure. But that stinkin' guilt. Your report so makes me wanna say, "Ta-heck-with-it!" and go!!!

Stupid guilt. Why do I hafta have a heart?!

I would def have the guilt too.. but I must make the point that the weather and crowds were fabulous, and you'd have a great time! I bet the boys (and dog ;)) would have a great time burping and ordering pizza with you on vaca for a little while.. My mother did this with her sisters and Nannie when Carly and I were 10/14 and we weren't mad at all! She had a great time, and you would too =) Consider it!

I think POFQ. Originally my brother had the Poly reserved but when his ex refused to let his daughters go he switched it. He's still torn about switching back. LOL!

HOW COULD SOMEONE REFUSE CHILDREN DISNEY WORLD?
This is a conspiracy.

POFQ OR the Poly would be a wonderful breakk.. Erica and I have decided that next time we vaca we are staying at the Poly. Right. Like that'll happen =P Hopefully a 7 day cruise though! I need to get back on a ship and get the Dooney and Bourke Cruise Line design wristlet.. kicking myself for being a cheapie when I was there!
