Stitch's Supersonic Celebration set to close

I wish they would just make it like the Tomorrowland Terrance Stage at Disneyland (though it would never look as cool) in terms of style of show and rent out the space to live groups. That way it changes the show frequently, saves Disney money and gets rid of Stitch. But that won't happen.

Glad to hear about changes to the show's content and tech aspects, especially the night stuff.

The current show is considered a "hit" with its target audience, young kids. (This is how MK Ent sees it)

Whatever happened to designing attractions at an adult level believing that kids would reach for the bar. What happened to designing attractions that both parents and their children can enjoy together. Some people really need to go back and understand Walt's thoughts in building the park. Its not meant to be a kiddie park, its meant to be a place for all people.

I totally agree! Also, when will Disney realize that most of their most successful attractions ( Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Jungle Cruise, Small World etc. ) were not based upon existing franchises and have withheld the test of time?

Am I the only one who thinks it's idiotic to put a ton of benches smack dab in the middle of TL?

Man, the destruction of Galaxy Palace looks dumber, and dumber everyday.

My argument was that Disney arbitrarily creates these franchises. Why did Stitch get the push with additional content (tv spinoffs, park additions, etc) that other movie characters didn't get?

Took the words right out of my mouth! That's the problem with Disney marketing and management, they think the parks and products should be just for kids. :brick:

I'm still angry Hercules has nothing in the park. Perfect addition for a Fantasyland thrill E-ticket, IMO.

No, you're not. I thought it was idiotic to put that stage where it is - or to even build the stage at all.

IMO, I would be happier if the stage was totally gone - no matter what show was using it.

But I am really glad this show is closing down at least for a little bit. I could kind of see where they were trying to go, but overall IMO it was a failure.

I'm kind of surprised that, even with the problems, the show would be closed right before the Fourth of July crowds start coming in. With no Space Mountain or TTA, Tomorrowland needs something else to handle so many people.

Little Mermaid and Aladdin both had TV spin offs... and they all got the 3 movie treatment. Mermaid has one (horrible) attraction in DHS right now and soon to be a supposed fantastic attraction in the near future, Aladdin also has a somewhat themed ride in Adventureland and a stage show over in DL. Both also have featured spots in Mickey's Philharmagic.

Now that I think of it, the Lion King also had 3 movies, a TV Spinoff (Timon and Pumba) used to have a parade, now permanent stage show in AK, and also a featured spot in Mickey's Philharmagic...

Also, both a Lion King and an Aladdin character are featured in the Tiki Room (which I happen to like :D)

If you think about it, all 3 of these Eisner Era franchises have received about the same treatment. It was his idea anyway to make the film division, parks, and merchandise cross-promotional.

I need to change my sig to say "Lone Eisner Defender" or something of the sort...I do hate Stitch btw...I'm just trying present to the other side of the "OMG Eisner was evil and Stitch is getting so much attention and none of the other 90s Characters get this treatment" argument.

Stitch is just the most recent of these other characters and apparently has more resistance than the others ever had...But I still think he's gotten no more special treatment than other Eisner Era Characters

I'm just saying... :lookaroun

Yes.

If they were so worried about Capacity with SM, they should have built something since 1992. :) Kaythxbai.

And this again shows how out of touch some of the suits are. Close a rollercoaster with a height restriction, and try to hide it (as if) with a lame show that dosn`t appeal to the dermographic it is meant to placate.

That's the first thing I thought, as well. Rows of benches right in the middle of the only fairly open area of TL???

And I'm surprised no one has made a connection between potentially putting up shade structures in TL with the whirlygigs and shade triangle things in the middle of the entrance at Epcot. :lookaroun It went so well THERE...

Hopefully the entire thing is temporary including any devices used to provide shade.

The GPT pad should be available again shortly after SM reopens and a temp stage could easily be placed there again.

Until we get that rumored E ticket that is.
