Stitch's Supersonic Celebration set to close

No, really. I mean, it's cute, but not up to par. I think TDK's theming was AT LEAST Disney standards. And I really do love the Glow in the Park parade &, from what I hear, the new fireworks are great. Still, a queue filled with "storyboards" for an actual themed queue would have been nice (is there even a real video in line?). And I'm not even sure if there's any resolution to the plot set up in the lift hill (Lois Lane falls into the "Bizarro Dimension", and...?)! I'll reserve full judgement for my actual ride-through. It looks like a step in the right direction, though!

Any kind of story is good for Six Flags. As for the queue, I agree that the cutouts are disappointing. They said there was going to be a themed queue and all we got were cutouts.

And I mean, at least they put onboard audio on their refurbished coasters. :zipit:

Wasn't this entire show dreamed up by marketing and pushed through by them? I think I read somewhere that WDI didn't have a single bit of input into it. If that's the case, this practice needs to stop now.

Whatever happened to designing attractions at an adult level believing that kids would reach for the bar. What happened to designing attractions that both parents and their children can enjoy together. Some people really need to go back and understand Walt's thoughts in building the park. Its not meant to be a kiddie park, its meant to be a place for all people.

Magic Kingdom isn't a family park anymore. Kids rule the land and are the only target audience.

Sad isn't it? I wonder if they would have even built Space Mountain if they had the mentality they do today.

Not marketing, entertainment. Fairly close though.

Personally, I think they should do something like the Stitch Summer Bash that's at HKDL...the crowds there seem to be really enjoying it.

But this still won't be the last we'll see of Stitch in the parks...there's still the Tiki Room posibility. Plus, with the dub of the anime coming Stitch's series isn't done yet.

The audio is awesome, but I rode four times last Wednesday at SFNE and the audio only worked once. Disappointing, but the ride certainly made up for it.

Back to Stitch...

It's actually kind of sad as this show was written by Jason Surell (sp?)
He has written several books that I'm sure most of us here are familiar with.

He has switched roles from Imagineering to Entertainment.
I think he needs to go back.

Oh jt,

I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. And especially about his personal life. You are way off the deep end with this post. His art is not Disney. I do stand by that.

Again, I ask you how is his art not Disney? As compared to what? And who?

And you absolutely called his character into question. Here let me quote you ...
You said " Track the history of the character and the artist who created Stitch."

What part of his history are you calling into question? His work on Runaway Brain or Mulan or what? He was Disney enough to help create those great animated films.

I guess being the guy the created the only Disney animated film that was well received, that actually made money since 2002 proves nothing.

Where were all of the great 'real' Disney artists when clunkers like Treasure Planet, Chicken Little, Home on the Range and Brother Bear were being created.

Not Disney. Indeed!

I meant the history of his work besides Stitch. Disney animation will not be remembered for much during the years you mention. I was deeply disappointed by Stitch. If it had of been done by any other studio I would have understood it, but a Disney movie? No way.

I never said the guy did not have talent. He may be the most visionary animator since Walt for all I know. But his work does not reflect what makes Disney animation special any more than Sea World or Universal reflects what makes a Disney theme park special. Apples and oranges.

I hope he has a ton of great success at Dreamworks. I believe he will be a perfect fit for that studio.

jt,

I guess I just don't get all the stitch bashing

I didn't see it as Disney trying to be hip or edgy, I saw it as 'Hey, we've had a some clunkers, so let's give this guy a shot with something completely different.'

That movie had more originality, heart and story than a lot of what they had turned out, and still turn out to some degree.

My first post wasn't meant to be taken as an emotional rant or whatever, it just rubs me raw the way some folks read the word stitch and just brush him off as that crazy alien character who Disney completely over uses.

Cheers!
