Star Tours, Princesses, Mermaid, DC gate, Pop Century, and more... Oh My!

Wow, this article is beyond crap. DL Hotel, complete rebuild. They just finished a 40 million dollor refurb in 05. That comment alone erases any credibility that article had

I guess somebody should tell Disneyland that they are wrong about the upcoming project they just announced.

What does this have to do with the main article?

Oh and btw this proves taht Honor Hunter at Blueskydisney makes up rumors because he has been saying since he started his site that they were going to bulldoze Disneyland Hotel and build a "Grand Floridan" themed hotel.

I guess I went against my word on posting again.

But, I just wanted to make this clear. The ban thing was a sarcastic joke. I mean, I thought it was obvious, but guess not. I do not think people should be banned for their opinions...what is this...the McCarthy days...just wanted less unnecessary negativity from him and more on-topic discussion/debate.

Guess I was wrong to say anything at all...

It was obvious! I understood.

You never know.

I've been reading BSD since nearly the beginning. The "Grand Floridian rumor does not ring a bell. He has been talking about the towers being reurbed for 2 years I believe. But what is even more amazing is that the DCA makeover has gone almost EXACTLY as he said it would over 2 years ago. Probably 3. I never miss that blog. Best Disney related blog out there bar none. My only complaint is his ongoing "fued" with George Lucas. I think he must have gotten a call from Lucasfilm telling him to tone down his use of Star Wars graphics or something. Don't know.

I remember, a long time ago, hearing about them tearing down the old hotel to construct a new one themed to the Grand Floridian style. However, I heard those plans were scrapped awhile back with Disney deciding to redo the old buildings.

That wouldn't make sense. You can't make 3 towers look victorian. It would look dumb. If anything it seems like it will borrow elements from WDW's Contemporary.

Aren't these newer hotels replacing some older ones. I don't necessarily remember any structures around the contemporary beforehand.

Top blog for me, BSD comes close second. The bad grammar makes up for Honor's constant, sidetracking Star War.

Wouldn't Disney not theme it off of the GF because the GF is modeled after the Hotel Coronado (or something like that) which is a California hotel.
Theming a California hotel off a Florida hotel that is themed off a California hotel just doesn't seem logical. :veryconfu

From what I was understanding, they had scrapped the total demo and new victorian hotel for that site. I remember reading that their reasoning was that the complete rebuild would put just too great of a cut in DLR's hotel capacity, which is already so low. They were still looking at building a Victorian hotel to the south in what is now parking lot or building it where PPH currently is (though that I only read once).

I would also not be surprised if they did a semi-lift of TDL's new hotel since both resorts have space issues and the designs are already available (and are more fanciful than the GF, which like Krankenstein said is based on the Coronado)

That would work nicely, too. TDL's hotel is exquisite!
