MK Seven Dwarves Mine Ride Construction

This is 2 different views of Lee's sketch overlayed on the most recent ariel I could find. I am not really in the know of which direction the entrance to the ride goes and such but I'm pretty sure I put it at least on the right area of fantasyland. If I got more specific information I could probably make a more accurate guess but these were just based on direction and what curves seemed to fit where.

This would be the queue going towards the castle walls

This would be if the queue faced the Little Mermaid ride

Very nice....and the top one is the correct orientation.

Ah thanks. One problem I kept having with the queue facing back towards the castle was that the line always extends past the current construction walls. I thought the castle walls were going there so it didn't seem like enough outside queue space.

Yeah, that's pretty close.

Looking back on the older versions of the layout....yeah...this thing is probably 30% shorter now.

Anyhow...the show scenes according to the latest layout:
1. NextGen Queue
2. Covered Queue
3. ?
4. Mine
5. Lift B
6. Dwarf Cottage
7. Exit past the Cottage

(Number three is odd. It indicates the second left-hand turn, just to the right of the first one out of the station. Not really sure what that's about, unless they plan to put some props of some sort over there.)

I had been thinking that the capacity for Mine Train would be in the 1200-1400 range, 24 guests per train, 4 trains (with probably 3 running).

45 Second Dispatch Intervals: 1920 Guests Per Hour
50 Second Dispatch Intervals: 1728 Guests Per Hour
55 Second Dispatch Intervals: 1570 Guests Per Hour
60 Second Dispatch Intervals: 1440 Guests Per Hour
65 Second Dispatch Intervals: 1329 Guests Per Hour
70 Second Dispatch Intervals: 1234 Guests Per Hour
75 Second Dispatch Intervals: 1152 Guests Per Hour

Is there something you are basing these estimates off of? 24 per train seems high (I thought it was 3 or 4 carts per train?)

And do you think they are getting three trains in there? They don't want trains in successive blocks.. just by the seat of my pants.. that looks tight to have enough space for the separation wanted.

Lee, do you know what kind of things we'll be seeing (ahem..touching) in the NextGen queue?

Also, what is the covered queue supposed to be? Part of the cottage??

Thank you for all that you do providing all this info! Much appreciated!

Here's my take on it. I set the white to transparent so we can see a little better. Who knows which is more accurate, but that wall to the right is what influenced my orientation the most.

Unless it's like this where the brown matches up with the walls.

That's likely correct.

I haven't heard what will be in the queue.

The queue will be part of the mine. The cottage is just a huge prop, visible from part of the queue and the end of the ride.

As seen here (click to enlarge):

I was hoping they would turn the cottage into a Snow White M&G.
It would be one less princess in need of a home if they ever do put a ride back where Princess Fairytale Hall will be.

I wondered the same thing, but then I realized the placement of it would cause a bottleneck when people came up the exit to meet her.

I'm guessing a gift shop.

The post-ticket-book application of ticket designations is odd.

Not really. And it's the way that vets at Imagineering still classify attractions to this day.

If you don't like how an attraction is shaping up, just state your opinion. Don't try to give your opinion a veneer of objectivity by making up a letter.

I don't have anything against the attraction so I wouldn't say I don't like it. I'm just stating a FACT and that is the attraction isn't very much ... it's small-scale and short and fairly basic. It's a B-Ticket.

We have no idea what letter this, or any other post-Eisner ride would have if it had a ticket, and we never will. The ticket system was intended to manage crowds, and was never an absolute yardstick of quality, ride length, cost, or anything else except for the ratio of supply and demand. At Disneyland, you once had to part with an E-Ticket to ride a mule. Would you call that an E-Ticket attraction now?

Well, I'd consider riding a mule to be more exciting than this little kiddie coaster (the second in the land now).

But to your point, the Pack Mules were an E-Ticket in their era and that was fine. I'm looking at now and comparing attractions. This is a much-hyped attraction that is simply another kiddie coaster with a few show scenes. This isn't the Grizzly Gulch coaster that is being built in Hong Kong now or the Tron coaster that will be built in Shanghai. Those are both E-Tickets. This thing has been hyped (much by breathless fanbois, but some by Disney) as much greater than what reality will bring.

But let's say the Snow White coaster really "is" a B-Ticket. What else was a B-Ticket? The Casey Jr. Circus train. Why is a B-Ticket family coaster going in Fantasyland a cause for mourning?

That's a very good comparison. Casey Junior is a B-Ticket. And I'm not in mourning here.

~Actually, VERY happy right now~

This would arguably put The Little Mermaid and The Mine Ride in the D-Ticket range.

Except it isn't 1972 ... as time went on, some attractions dropped down ...

If it were somehow '72 (and I realize it is every night at the MK!:ROFLOL::drevil::king:), Mermaid would probably be an E and the Mine Coaster likely a C.

But it's 2012 ... and Mermaid is a C+ at best ... and this coaster is a B.

The hype here when the coaster was announced was that the new coaster was a tamer version of BTMRR when that was obviously never the intent. This "D ticket version" was deliberately hinted at by some so that at this point it could be called a scaled back disappointment because TDO had gone cheap. Fortunately, over time, I have educated many here to recognize these types of manipulations by the usual suspects.

All that said, it is obvious from the pics that Disney is "sinking" some serious capital into this mine train project and it is by no means a scaled back version. It looks awesome but only time will tell if this is an improvement over "Plan A"; the princess mega greets.

Oh, have I mentioned recently that much of the ride infrastructure is at utilidor level?

jt...it is refreshing to see a positive post from you. It's posts like these that balance out the negative ones towards TDO and it shows your enthusiasm towards the project and the "World."

The mine coaster is clearly not going to be a B ticket, or even close. Regardless of if it's as thrilling or long as some of us hoped it would be, it's definitely not going to be on the same level as the Tea Cups or the Treehouse.
You guys can be as hyperbolic as you want, but even by todays standards this is an E ticket ride.

Uh, no. it's not.

Expedition Everest is an E-ticket, flawed as it is. Soarin' is an E-ticket. Spaceship Earth, Big Thunder Mountain, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-man, and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey are E-tickets.

This isn't anywhere near that level.

Personally I think the whole ticket level discussion (which like to many other topics seems to pop back up on a regular basis) is pointless. It's really all a matter of opinion. Expedition Everest may be an E-ticket, but it's a A-ticket for me because I don't like roller coasters and will never ride it. It's all subjective.
