That's the thing. Secret Service travels in seperate vehicles, all of them black. They would have been there at least two days in advance and leave two days later. That is standard proceedure. Even the surprise Iraq trip was in planning for two weeks prior to. My experience with Presidential security and the lack there of according to your story just doesn't add up.da1070 said:If the president rides a ride does secret service go on it with him? If he did spend time at Disney why are there not more people saying "I seen him"?
Disney could get great advertising out of it.
prberk said:Well, there are two ways to be "secret": (1) Big prep for a "public" trip (that is, a KNOWN trip where the Prez would be known to go and especially making a public appearance), as Legacy is describing; and (2) secretly appearing "under the RADAR" on a trip that is not publicly announced, like this one could easily have been.
No reason for big prep for a trip where the public will not know he is there. In fact, keeping that secret is better security than making a big show of security beforehand. And it is different from the Thanksgiving trip in 2003 to Baghdad, because it was meant to be public, only secret to get there....
When I saw Amy Grant and Vince Gill in concert at the MCI Center in D.C. for Christmas '03, NO notice was made and no extra apparent security. But George H. W. and Barbara Bush came to the concert in just the same fashion described above. A few black suits showed up, surrounding the former President and his wife. A small commotion of noise ensued as they sat down, but everything else was normal. You could even walk up within about 50 feet for pics (but no closer). Those with tickets next to them just got to go in and sit down like anyone else! It was cool.
Once again, not announced, so no real reason for extreme security (other than the normal checks that they made coming in the door). The best security was that no one knew they were coming.
One more thing: the last time I read the President came to Disney to SPEAK, CMs posted here that they did not know, only that something important was going on. That was at the GF, I believe (and his brother was at the Contemp.)... Do a search and you can find it.

The Secret Service guys are great. I hung out with a couple of them when he was at Walter Reed last. Just some regular guys. But even before 9-11, security was tight. Now it's even tighter.AliciaLuvzDizne said:when clinton was in office he came to speak at my school...granted it was before 9-11... the secret service did crowd control, but they were cool about it too they answered questions and stuff. his helecopter landed on our football field and whoever wanted to go see him speak got in free (with tickets)
and when he was leaving, i was walking back to my dorm and the limo came right next to me and he opened his window and waved...
DisneySoccerFan said:On "vacation" in Texas . . . gather up the security contingent . . . have staff notify Disney the President is coming and needs dinner arrangements . . . gas up AF1 . . . some of the press pool gets word and tags along . . . poof they're there, trying to be as "under the radar" as possible. It's plausable that COULD happen over the course of one afternoon/evening, right? Of course . . . it is also entirely plausible the the Bush Family impersonators were attending the Club Paris event!
(Again, I'm looking at this as a "trial" - it's true to me unless proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Wishes! Magic!! Believe!!! )
oh well yeah...but they kept it pretty out of site...Legacy said:The Secret Service guys are great. I hung out with a couple of them when he was at Walter Reed last. Just some regular guys. But even before 9-11, security was tight. Now it's even tighter.
Yeah... but considering we were indoors, on a military posts, the SS were a little more relaxed.AliciaLuvzDizne said:oh well yeah...but they kept it pretty out of site...
i didnt mention the secret service men that were *probably* up on the hill where the planetarium and observatory is...sniper secret service men i'd imagine?
