Sure. But puns are part and parcel of the Potterverse. They are not an added ornamentation, but the very building blocks of the magic. There is wordplay everywhere, those little things are the very way in which Potter's world differs from the ordinary world. You board ordinary trains at platforms 9 and 10, and the magic one at Platform 9 3/4. You can goto Diagon Alley, but also to it;s dark counterpart, Knockturn Alley. ('Nocturnally', and also with connotations of being knocked about, for it is a dark and sinister place). Maybe you'll meet Voldemort there ('Vol de Mort', 'fleeing from death' in French, as he does indeed).Yes, but puns, unless executed REALLY well, are generally seen as the lowest and most reviled form of wordplay. Diagon Alley = Diagonally. Ugh.
The world of Potter is build with wordplay, the language is slightly twisted and magical in the same manner that ordinary objects and animals are slightly twisted.
Meanwhile modern-era WDW is engulfed with 'crates with stencilled puns'. These have no bearing on the theme, but are just a recent layer of ornamentation. A sort of verbal Hidden Mickeys. They serve no thematic or world-building purpose. In fact, they seem to come in their place. They exist for want of actual sparkling creative delight.
