Yes, but puns, unless executed REALLY well, are generally seen as the lowest and most reviled form of wordplay. Diagon Alley = Diagonally. Ugh.
Sure. But puns are part and parcel of the Potterverse. They are not an added ornamentation, but the very building blocks of the magic. There is wordplay everywhere, those little things are the very way in which Potter's world differs from the ordinary world. You board ordinary trains at platforms 9 and 10, and the magic one at Platform 9 3/4. You can goto Diagon Alley, but also to it;s dark counterpart, Knockturn Alley. ('Nocturnally', and also with connotations of being knocked about, for it is a dark and sinister place). Maybe you'll meet Voldemort there ('Vol de Mort', 'fleeing from death' in French, as he does indeed).
The world of Potter is build with wordplay, the language is slightly twisted and magical in the same manner that ordinary objects and animals are slightly twisted.

Meanwhile modern-era WDW is engulfed with 'crates with stencilled puns'. These have no bearing on the theme, but are just a recent layer of ornamentation. A sort of verbal Hidden Mickeys. They serve no thematic or world-building purpose. In fact, they seem to come in their place. They exist for want of actual sparkling creative delight.

You do realize there are 2 full blown world class theme parks, 3 deluxe resort hotels that are superior to any of the Disney hotels, and a dining/nightlife district that hasn't been ply boarded up for 4+years.
Why don't you just boil it down to "It's not Disney, and no matter what they build, no matter how high quality it is, and no matter how superior to Disney it is, I'm not interested because, well, it's not Disney."

Because that's not the truth. I don't care that there are "2 full blown world class theme parks, 3 deluxe resort hotels that are superior to any of the Disney hotels, and a dining/nightlife district that hasn't been boarded up for 4+years."

What? You're saying that because you are in love with Universal that everyone else must also be in love with Universal? Anyone not in love with Universal is either blind or stupid? Is that what you're saying? I don't see much of an appeal to the Universal parks... yet, I don't give a rats a** about accommodations (Disney or non-Disney), and I loathe nightlife spots. So, tell me again why I am a pixie dust snorter. Especially after you have read my pro-Universal comments thus far. I'd hate to think that you came in with a smarta** comment without actually reading all the posts. That would be what is stupid. BUT, just in case you "missed" my posts, I have already said that it is amazing that Universal is what it is now, that it can only push Disney to do better, that Disney itself is slowly losing my money already, and that once the cost ratio balances out then we will be taking time out for Universal. So, either your lazy and didn't read my posts and commented on what you "thought" I said, or you're deliberately obtuse.

Why should that be strange?

There are world class Baseball and American Rugby teams in Florida. With fantastic new stadiums and great food vendors and billion dollar congress centers attached.
But so what? I don't care about those sports, I want my Association Football in nice authentic old stadiums with wooden stands and a big fatty sausage in my hand.

Das Boat - And another one in the hand not in my trouser pocket.

I am refusing to vote. I'll wait until both lands are finished and make my assessment.

This reminds me of the people that give 5 star ratings to games and such on Amazon before they are even released. How do you know it's a good game! It isn't even available to ay yet!!

I had read all your posts in this thread, and after the post I quoted here, i re-read them
And what I still get is that you simply are not interested. You love Disney and it really doesn't what Universal builds, you simply aren't interested. Then you went on to say that your wife can't ride roller coasters therefore she can't ride much at six flags and king island. What that has to do with Universal I'm not sure. Especially since they only have 3 large coaster attractions between their 2 parks.
I get it though, some people AREN'T theme park fans, they are Disney Parks fans. Universal encountered a similar problem when they open the WWoHP. Potter fan does not equal theme park fan. They found that some people who came to see Potter had no interest in visit the other attractions at the resort or really even the same park as potter. One of the fortunate consequences of building Potter small was that many of the people that came to see Potter couldn't get in until mid to late afternoon. This left little to do but explore the rest of the park until the could get in to the WWoHP. What many of them found was that they actually enjoyed it and many have returned .

I didn't vote since I haven't been to New Fantasyland yet (my last WDW visit was 2 months before it opened  ), but this poll seems to be a case of different strokes for different folks.

I do wish that Disney had waited until the Seven Dwarves Mine Train was completed before opening New Fantasyland. Opening the area with its signature attraction unfinished doesn't seem very smart.
