Here is another opinion. We are also getting frustrated with WDWs decreasing value (ie. content to price ratio) and decided to take a chance and spend 4 days at UNI last October. The Disney company lost 4 days of our money .. We've been to wdw every year since 06 so it was something different.

We had a great time at UNI .. Our kids really enjoyed it, it was cheaper than wdw and frankly we derived a lot of perceived value because the mid level resort we stayed at (royal pacific) was nicer than any of the mods at wdw, and more comparable to the deluxes really. There was a decent amount to do with to the kids and they had a great time.

Having said that, we won't go back soon. There just wasn't enough to redo with the kids. My point is, if you're on the fence about visiting, I think UNI has enough to offer most people, regardless of your family situation. You just may not be able to justify another trip anytime soon.

See, and that's the problem.

People going for the first time to Universal will have a good time. Those who have been there before and are going specifically for Potter, and I love telling them the news, if you have been to Universal already, you're going to Potter to do basically one new attraction. You have a little theming but there just cheaped out on two of the "new" Potter rides which are just bad repackages of better attractions. If Disney did this, they would be lambasted, Universal does it and they get a pass?

Not on my watch.

Here is to hoping the new Potter stuff is, you know, "new".

Jimmy Thick- Most people I know feel cheated by the Potter area, I can't blame them...

It's already public knowledge this is the case. So why mention it ?

Unless your purposely trying to antagonise. Which of course you wouldn't do due to the forum rules. Or are you again trying to pass your biased opinion as fact and cause trouble?

Hmmmm...

There is no question about the new Potter stuff being "new", the land was completely cleared, nothing left to re-theme. Even you can't deny that fact, although I assume you will.

Uh, so the Goofy coaster, the cloned DCA attraction and the barely upgraded M&G with Ariel are different from the "repackaged" items in the Potter area how?

People going for the first time too Magic Kingdom will have a good time. Those who have been there before and are going specifically for the new Fantasyland, and I love telling them the news, if you have been to MK already, you're going to Fantasyland to do basically one new attraction. You have a little themeing but they just cheaped out on two "new" FL rides one of which is just a re-theme of a bare track kiddie coaster and the other just added an identical spinner. If Uni did this, they would be lambasted, Disney does it and they get a pass?

I can't make any kind of decision until the new area opens and I experience it myself, as should the general public. Based on Universal's track record of repackaging old rides as "new", the onus is on them.

Jimmy Thick- Fool me once shame on you...

But you have made a decision you have stated that NFL is better then the Potter expansion will be. As for re-packaging, I know you have no interest in Uni so you aren't following the details, but there is enough info out in the public to assure you that there is no repackaging of an existing ride, everything is being built from scratch. If you still wish to deny that fact, the you are, for the lack of a better word, just being thick.

I had read all your posts in this thread, and after the post I quoted here, i re-read them
And what I still get is that you simply are not interested. You love Disney and it really doesn't what Universal builds, you simply aren't interested. Then you went on to say that your wife can't ride roller coasters therefore she can't ride much at six flags and king island. What that has to do with Universal I'm not sure. Especially since they only have 3 large coaster attractions between their 2 parks.
I get it though, some people AREN'T theme park fans, they are Disney Parks fans. Universal encountered a similar problem when they open the WWoHP. Potter fan does not equal theme park fan. They found that some people who came to see Potter had no interest in visit the other attractions at the resort or really even the same park as potter. One of the fortunate consequences of building Potter small was that many of the people that came to see Potter couldn't get in until mid to late afternoon. This left little to do but explore the rest of the park until the could get in to the WWoHP. What many of them found was that they actually enjoyed it and many have returned .

Whatever. I love theme parks. Don't act like you know me. I would go to Universal in a heartbeat if it wasn't so pricey for the small amount of time that would be spent there. If you love it so much then go and have fun. We're done here.
