WWoHP just doesn't seem worth the $577 it would cost for the 4 of us to go to Universal for a day or two. Forget it. Don't get me wrong, I love Harry Potter. I even went to the 12AM release of book 7 (No, I didn't dress up. :D) But it would take more than Universal has to offer right now (even with Diagon Alley) for me to go to Florida and drop nearly six hundred dollars for a couple of days. And before you get your knickers in a bunch, I will already be at Disney for an additional 7 or 8 days doing things that I really enjoy. So the money spent there is still well spent, for now. Once we stop enjoying Disney then we'll hold off on Florida trips until they start getting it right again. Each year we go we seem to spend less and less time actually at Disney. Last trip we spent two days at Clearwater Beach/John's Pass. This next trip will be two days at Clearwater Beach/John's Pass and a day at St. Augustine.

Can't please all the people :)

Isn't it rather short sighted to claim Universal has little to offer?

Little to offer me. That's different than saying it has little to offer everyone. I was being specific. I know people love Universal. I am truly happy that there is something out there that is (supposedly) driving Disney to do better. Disney needs this kind of competition. So do we. But until Universal gets bigger and offers more for my family then Diagon Alley and WWoHP just doesn't cut it. Also, I will not stand in those lines, and I will not add the EP to the Universal tickets. That takes it to $1000 for a couple of days for the 4 of us. No thanks.

The thing is, I grew up with Disney (as well as Ultraman and Gatchaman). Disney is as much a part of me as Star Wars. It always will be. No, I am not a pixie dust snorter. I just think that Universal holds less of an appeal for us.

That explains it. As I said, can't please all the people.

I guess there are a few die hards like I mentioned above though...

Again, that is awesome for Universal. Really. Pictures like that do get me excited, because I know they make Disney cringe. One day maybe Disney will wake the hell up and they will start becoming an industry leader again. Maybe. I remember the first time I saw photos like this. My jaw went slack. LOL Its about time Universal got out of Disney's shadow. Like I said before, Disney is slowly, but surely losing us. I promise that once it gets to the point that spending the extra money at Universal and less money at Disney evens out to the amount we spend right now, then we'll surely go. I suppose another reason we do not go to Universal is that my wife refuses to get on a rollercoaster or any ride that causes severe motion sickness. She can ride quite a lot a Disney. Not much at Six flags, or Kings Island.

That is quite a telling statement right there.

This is a sentiment that more and more people are expressing and something that TDO needs to acknowledge.

Amen. The problem is that I don't think Disney is seeing an attendance loss. Or maybe I am wrong. Disney is still ingrained in the average person's mind as the end-all-beat-all definition in American theme parks. Universal needs to start making Modern Marvel shows, and travel channel shows like the Samantha Brown Disney shows, and get the word out there that they can be a great alternative to Disney.

I agree and I think it's quite telling that Disney no longer does those types of shows.

Well, one channel (Travel, maybe) aired a relatively recent (post-Pixar merger, but pre-FLE) piece about Disney World. Maybe they're waiting until 7DMT is complete before filming a new one.

Disney just keeps updating the Modern Marvels episode. They already have it updated with the NFL expansion and it talks about the soon to open 7DMT.

You do realize there are 2 full blown world class theme parks, 3 deluxe resort hotels that are superior to any of the Disney hotels, and a dining/nightlife district that hasn't been ply boarded up for 4+years.
Why don't you just boil it down to "It's not Disney, and no matter what they build, no matter how high quality it is, and no matter how superior to Disney it is, I'm not interested because, well, it's not Disney."
