I would ask why you haven't been to Universal? I could understand if you went and didn't like it, but if you haven't been then how can you make a comparison?

And I don't even know why it matters if Goofy even likes Universal, that's of little consequence pertaining to the OP's poll. If he doesn't like Universal then he doesn't like it, no big whoop.

Again, please do not twist what I am saying. I am saying (and have said before) that I do not dislike Universal. I've never been there so how can I say it sucks? I am saying, again, that I cannot see myself paying more to go to a park that doesn't seem to appeal to me and my family as much right now over a park(s) that we still enjoy. However, since my posts yesterday I spoke with my wife concerning our cruise trip that we are going to be taking to see if she would like to give Universal a try since we will only be on land for 6 days. 4 at WDW, and 2 at Universal. She said that she would have to think about it. I don't blame her since she would spend a good portion of that time sitting at the Universal ride exits waiting for us. You have to remember that a vacation isn't just about "you". It is about the entire family and what the entire family can get out the trip. Why in the world would someone make a member, or members of their family miserable just so they can have fun? At WDW (for now) we all have fun. At Universal my wife would likely sit out over half of the rides.

I wasn't talking about you particularly, so calm down. I stated that the "you" I was speaking about is people in general. I'm not sure what you're talking about with the ticket pricing though, whether your numbers are in regards to Universal or Disney.

Pricing them both right now using my family as reference and Universal is $681.56 for 3 day park to park for 4 adults. Three day BASE tickets to Disney World with 4 adults is $1,116.12. That's 4 adults, because my kids are 13 & 12. So your Disney tickets are almost double those of Universal. That's quite the difference.

And as far as your experience goes at Universal, guess what, I'm in the same boat. My son and I don't do more than half of the "rides" there either. But since it's a family occasion we enjoy the crap out of what we can do and the time we spend together. My wife and daughter do the thrill rides while my son and I enjoy the lighter stuff. We are hardly miserable. Chances are that if you're not into the thrill rides at Universal then you don't enjoy the ones that Disney does have. Are you miserable there?

So you see, we all have a difference of opinions, no big deal. But just because you(in general) don't enjoy a park doesn't mean it's not as good as a Disney park.

Not upset.

I stated that the "you" I was speaking about is people in general. I'm not sure what you're talking about with the ticket pricing though, whether your numbers are in regards to Universal or Disney.

You were talking about me in your post. "And I don't even know why it matters if Goofy even likes Universal, that's of little consequence pertaining to the OP's poll. If he doesn't like Universal then he doesn't like it, no big whoop."

IF I bought the Disney tickets at rack rate. I don't. Other people telling me what they get tickets for is ridiculous. I have had two of you now quote two totally different prices at me. And both of those are very different than what I am personally seeing.

I am not miserable. My wife would rather not spend her entire time at Universal sitting on her a** while the rest of us ride rides. And my wife only has to wait outside of a few rides at Disney. Quite a difference at Universal. And its great that you have someone to walk around with while the rest of your group is on the rides. My wife would be alone. Again, quite a difference at Universal.

So you see, we all have a difference of opinions, no big deal. But just because you(in general) don't enjoy a park doesn't mean it's not as good as a Disney park.

I am really, really, really, really, really trying not to be an a**hole here, but for the last time, and for the love of God try to get this straight for once. I...am...not...saying...Disney...is...better...than...Universal...for...everyone. Just ...for...the...money...for...us. So yeah, just because I (in general) don't enjoy a park, it does mean it is not as good as a Disney park, for us. And that is beside the point. I never said Universal sucks. Not once did that ever get posted by me. Never. I haven't even been to Universal. I have only stated what my family prefers. That's it. Its people like you that keep twisting my words around quoting something that I am not even saying. Ridiculous.

Oh yeah, still not upset.

Ok, I can see you're about to have an aneurysm so I'll just leave most of it alone.

But as far as pricing, I'm using Disney's OFFICIAL SITE, and Universal's OFFICIAL SITE. I don't know how anyone could come up with different pricing......I don't set the prices on their sites.

And I'm at work so I don't have the time to dig through the posts but what I said about your opinion and this poll wasn't a dig at you. Take it for what you want.

Has your wife been to Universal? If not then how do you guys know she would have to sit on her rear most of the time? You're telling me she can't do rides like E.T., or Men In Black? You're telling me she can't enjoy offerings like the Horror Make Up show or the Terminator show? You talk about "twisting words" yet you say that I have someone to walk around with. I said that my son and I "enjoy the crap out of what we can do". That would imply that we enjoy the rides and attractions that we CAN do. To just sit there would be ridiculous.

For someone who was going to leave most of it alone, you sure said a lot. Regarding the prices, however, as someone who has used the Disney site, they can, at least change from day to day in regards to demand- room rates at least. So, in that regards, it is possible to have two different price quotes after using the site.

Negative, because these are the same prices that I saw months ago when checking for someone else. Those are also the same prices at Uni that we paid in September. And just because I typed " a lot" doesn't mean I didn't leave most of it alone. By "most of it" that would infer that I meant subject matter.

But, they say that seeing is believing....so:

Oh, and the Universal tickets could have been about $50 cheaper, because they have a 2 + 1 deal in which the third day is free if you use them by a certain date. In this case it would have to be used by May 30th or something like that, but I used standard tickets to create an even comparison since Disney doesn't offer such a deal to my knowledge.

Yeah, that's me. Captain Freakout.

And if that's you "leaving most of it alone"... then you suck at it. Just sayin.

One more time for the reading impaired...

I don't hate Universal.
We may even try Universal on our cruise trip.
It does cost more to go to Universal than WDW... for us.
If you love Universal so much then go there, but don't bag on me for not having gone there myself.

One more thing... why is my refusal to hop on a plane right now and go to Universal and ignore WDW getting you all hot an bothered?

NO, nevermind. Don't answer that. I don't care.

Yes, you are getting riled. Nobody is telling you to go or any such thing.

I'm simply asking why you feel the way you do about Universal. Before we first went there I thought it would suck and that I wouldn't have anything to do, since I don't do thrill rides. I was proven wrong. Nobody is bagging on you. And perhaps you missed where I stated in an earlier post that I STILL prefer Disney World over Universal? I'm simply stating that Universal CAN be as fun, if you give it a chance. If you don't want to then no big deal. Nobody's holding a gun to your head telling you to go or not.

But I simply don't understand how 2 people going to Universal can be MORE than Disney when that stats would still carry over, just cut in half......For Universal, 2 adults for 3 days is $319.98. For Disney it jumps up to $558.06.

edit: I don't see where anyone said to ignore Disney. We(collective unit) have said you can enjoy BOTH. Maybe you should try some of that reading comprehension that you're preaching about?

So you're not going to reply to the pricing quotes that I pulled?

I have avoided this thread since the beginning suspecting how things would end up. Turns out my prognostication was dead-on....except I expected more participation from the Thick one.

Its odd how I pulled different ones. I'm done with this conversation. I am more amazed with how my vacation plans get your underwear in a bunch when they don't even affect you. I'm finished with this conversation. This is the final word I'm going to say on it. God forbid anyone say anything positive about Walt Disney World in your presence. And to think I use to have respect for your opinion. I suppose that's in the crapper right now. Welcome to number 3 on my ignore list. Not that I expect at the matter to you. I am completely stunned that my personal opinion on Universal Studios v. Walt Disney World gets you fired up. I wasn't aware of that I matter that much to you in your world. Thank you and goodbye.

So instead of providing data you'd rather resort to insults about underwear? Bravo!!!

And I don't know what this guy is doing to get results to fill that gap between the two brands. Some people just can't have a civil debate.

I just don't know why Disney isn't holding up to the Disney Difference??? They plus this.. only thing I see getting a plus is at the end of every existing product... FP+ MM+ DDP+ blah blah... lets fix the crap that is broken in the parks and restore to the glory it once was... lol

I love the new Fantasyland expansion, I think the theming is aweseome and the Imagineers did some of their best work. However, the WWOHP is the most intricately detailed and well themed park area in the world, in my humble opinion. You literally step into the books. If Daigon alley follws the same attention to detail, I would have to give that expansion the edge.

I checked on prices right before I made that post. It will cost $577 (without the much needed EP) for 3 adults and 1 child.
You really don't need the EP though. I was just there a few months ago. We did a one day park hopper. Hit IOA in the morning and Uni mid afternoon til closing. We were tired but our longest wait of the day was Despicable me at 35 minutes.

I think what G00fyDad was saying is that he feels he gets more value at a package for Disney. If you were looking at just the parks, yes, Uni IS probably a better deal on a per day basis. However, when you factor in amenities, from transportation to extra magic hours to the complimentary entertainment featured at many of the Disney resort hotels, then some people, myself included, feel that Disney is a better overall package.

Universal offers a form of extra magic hours (early admission to WWoHP or HHN) as well as unlimited FastPass, which is a different thing but same goal. They also feature complimentary entertainment on a par with WDW hotels. In addition, they are just flat out nicer properties. Your argument is invalid.

As for day tickets, all Orlando theme parks, even Sea World, nail you on single-day tickets. But why would you spend only one day at Universal anyway?

71 Jason - At least Gatorland has reasonable 1-day rates
