free thinking = great

but simply being a contrarian doesn't make you a free thinker. Especially when said person is obtuse and ignores anything that doesn't fit the spiel.

Group think sucks... but breaking group think requires accepting and evaluating new perspectives. Simply holding onto a DIFFERENT perspective while still closing your eyes... is not 'accepting new perspectives'

I have noticed that the Magic Kingdom closed several times this week for occupancy, I guess that is because Disney so bad no one wants to go any more. Some of the things Disney is doing may be a turn off the fans of Universal, but things like the new princess meet and greets are bringing in the families. The new meet and greets may not be an E ticket ride, but I know two families that went to Magic Kingdom because of them. Just like four people from my group during our last trip to Walt Disney World went to Universal because they are Harry Potter fans, little girls want to go to Walt Disney World because of the princesses.

And you are right they arent E tickets, but then what is these days, and isnt that the point for many? I know 10 families who wont go to Disney cause its for small girls apparently. But then who am i to question Disneys advertising team.
But i see universal are having some high wait times too, fad cant be over just yet

Just looked and the Magic Kingdom closed for a few hours on Dec 25, Dec 27 and Dec 30. The part about no one wanting to go there anymore was to be funny.

The point I am trying to make is that Harry Potter and other attractions at Universal is bring people to that park. It increased the attendance by huge numbers. When it comes to the Magic Kingdom Disney is trying to get families with young kids and the expansion of the Magic Kingdom has help with this. It believe that the new Seven Dwarf Mine Train will add to this appeal.

I don't want to pick holes in your line of thinking: but how can a D-ticket of an IP in a land which has been exposed loads of times in various media iterations, compete with Potter which was the first time non WB staff/union members working on the films got the chance to experience the World of Potter in a 3D environment.

I'll not try to answer for @DVCOwner , but it's a completely different demographic being attracted by the two places. The crowd that wants to see the Potter attraction my overlap the crowd that's bringing its youngsters as a family to the MK, but they are two, distinct groups each company is looking to pull in.

Thank you for saying exactly what is happening.

Both are looking to bring in families though. I've seen loads of kids in Olivanders, loads of kids on Forbidden Journey though, etc.

Of course you have, and some are the same families and children you'll see at Dumbo. But there's enough of a population out there that there are many who will go to one or the other. Just as there are people that watch hockey and football, while there are others that watch hockey or football. The princess and Potter crowds may share some followers, but there are others who are in one court and not the other. The supposed D ticket mine train and its neighboring attractions have and will continue to justify its construction. I wish it were something more substantial, but I accept it for what it is.
