I've noticed that a few people (anonymous, of course! LOL) like to give them out over the smallest infractions-

I got some over the Political postings a while back. Funny thing is, I never gave any negative out for someone who opposed my position. It is an open forum and with an election coming up, there will be a political tilt to some of the posts, intended or not. And when the post topic is a blantant political movie, the responses WILL BE political.

The only time I gave out Bad Rep was when someone attacked another persons viewpoint with nothing constructive, only malice.

I probably would have just ignored the thread if the reputation feature had been around back then. By that, I'd say the feature makes some of us think twice before expressing an unfavorable opinion and is probably good for the overall quality of the board.
