Hi Ho Hi Ho its off to the World I go! Trip Report Aug 1-8th

I just returned from a wonderful week down at the happiest place on Earth. So let it begin.

Who we are:

Andy-My DH 31 yr old. Graphic Artist. Hated Disney with a passion until our honeymoon and now is just much of a Disney freak as myself.
Aleisha-Me. 29 yr old. Staffing Assistant. Been a Disney freak for most of my life. I am also allergic to Beef, pork and dairy which means a lot of my food reports will be totally different.

We live in the DC area, about 25 minutes outside of it to be in fact, and head down to the world at least once a year.

There is another player in here, we have a six month old son, Logan. We originally planned on taking him, but my mom and dad offered to watch him while we were down.

Day 1:

August. 1. 2009

We were at Dulles International airport at five in the morning, for our originally scheduled 7:40 am flight. Grabbed a bagel and a soda and sat there waiting. Now let me say, when we booked the flight, we were thinking great, we can get down there early, enough our day and not have to worry about anything. But after sitting on the plane for an hour after we were supposed to take off we were seriously doubting the whole thing. Apparently they had some issues with the plane and couldn't decide if they were going to need a new plane. Lucky for us, it all turned out well and we were on our way an hour later than usual.

Hit up the ME and for the first time, was able to sit right up front so that I could watch as we passed through the Golden Sign we all love. Let me tell you, I don't know who was more excited. Myself or the five year old across from us.

IMG_1870.jpg

We got to Old Key West and checked in, using online check in. What an easy process, dif. reccomend it if you get a chance. We found that our room wasn't ready yet so we went down to DTD while we waited. Did some minor shopping knowing that we would be there for the entire week. When we got the text, that our room was ready we headed back to check out the room, before hitting up Poly for dinner that night.

We had reservations for 'OHannas that evening. Once again, we love this place. Plenty for us to eat, though there were a few mixups with my allergies but it was quickly fixed. While we were eating, there was a family beside us that let their kid watch a portable DVD player the entire time they were eating, which we thought was sort of strange. We think he may have had Autisim or something but weren't sure.

Some food sample:

IMG_1909.jpg

Noodles.

IMG_1911.jpg

My husbands Hawaiian Bread.

On to Magic Kingdom where we road Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain. The last time we were in Disney, I was pregnant and Big Thunder had been down so it was a double pleaure for both my husband and I to actually be riding it once again. While I enjoyed being pregnant down in the world, it made riding the rides that much more enjoyable this go around. You forget how much you love them until you can't ride them.

By this point it was late, and we had been up since four in the morning, and while wanted to do a lot more, exhaustion ruled out and we headed back to OKW to take a much needed sleep before we hit the parks hard the following day.

Day two to come...

Day two-

August 2, 2009

This was a long day!

We decided to take our time in the morning to enjoy our resort....

IMG_2053.jpg

IMG_2055.jpg

We headed to Hollywood Studios at 9:30am..where we hit up Toy Story Mania right away thinking we were going to have to fastpass it. We were quite surprised by the 40 minute wait, not bad for a popular ride we thought. Once again Andy and I played against one another, as usual. But it was still a good time. After we headed out of the ride, we ran into a couple of characters and I was able to jump in line for a quick photo.

IMG_1950.jpg

IMG_1949.jpg

We then made our way over to RNRC, decided to fastpass it. We grabbed some lunch and tried to stay out of the heat which was incredibly hot.

We watched the Indiana Show while our fast passes for RNRC time came up....

IMG_1948.jpg

After RNRC, we headed to EPCOT. We had dinner ressie's in Canada and it is my husbands favorite park so we wanted to spend the majority of the day.

Epcot was busy, since some of the cast from Deadliest Catch was there, we weren't lucky enough to get in line, my husband was a bit sad but we were able to jump on Melstrom (sp?) and at the end of the ride, we were able to caught glimpses of the cast members. Which made up for the not standing in line. Soarin' was packed, and the fast passes had already been distributed for the day so we decided to skip it enjoying the Countries, Mexico, Norway and hitting up Nemo.

We had always wanted to eat at LeCellier and were finally able to this trip. I was skeptical to begin with. Everyone hyped up this place to the point I was afraid I would be dissapointed. Let me say. I wasn't it lived up to everything the people said, if not more. It was fabulous.

Andy's meal:

Filet Mignon and the Chocholate Mousse:

IMG_1972.jpg

IMG_1974.jpg

Mine:

Roasted Chicken and Veggies. Minus sauces, butter and etc. With Coconut Sorbet

IMG_1971.jpg

IMG_1973.jpg

It was the best meal we had ever had at Disney...by far!

And since Magic Kingdom had EMH for the evening, we followed Epcot by MK for the evening hit up BTMR again, and caught the tail end of SpectroMagic at the back of the park before we decided to call it a night. We took our time heading for the front, along with everyone else. Because of this we did not return to our resort til well after one in the morning....

Day 3 to follow...

Day 3

August 3. 2009

Because yesterday was a long long day, we chose to take today at a much slower pace. We had an appointment with our DVC rep in the morning before having them drop us off at Animal Kingdom. We went straight to Everest where we grabbed a fast pass, and were shocked to see a short line and hoped on immediately. Yeti report, from all I could see it was working the eyes lite, he moved etc. Which apparently he didn't do last year when my husband and sister rode it.

Interesting enough, after Everest we rode Dinosaur, which wasn't working like it normally did. Even still, the ride scared the daylights  out of me but was still fun. The picture was classic.

After Dinosaur, we hit up the Flame Tree BBQ for lunch, and ended up getting a free meal out of it. The server was very rude and didn't understand what we were asking. We ended up with several lemonades we didn't order and all. The manager quickly came out, and apologized refunding us for the lunch.

We had gotten passes for the Safari and where waiting for our time slot when the skies opened up and it down poured....The rain cooled things off briefly, and when the skies were once again shinning we were surprised to find a hidden Mickey in a most unusual spot:

IMG_1994.jpg

Who knew Disney had that kind of Magic!

Finally our time for the safari was up and we hoped on board for our safari!

After the safari we jumped a bus to check out the AKL, a resort we had never before checked out. Though its not our style, it was beautiful!

IMG_2029.jpg

IMG_2030.jpg

It began to rain again!

After checking out the resort, we headed for DTD Where we had dinner reservations at Capt Jacks

Again, we had heard some pretty iffy things regarding the food here. So we were pretty unsure of what to expect. But overall it was enjoyable. And ok so maybe the view that we had helped a lot...

Aleisha's meal.

Our view of the gorgeous sunset!

After dinner, we strolled along the Downtown Area. I have to say after the hustle and bustle of the previous day, Day 3, was actually quite relaxing and very nice.

Loving the report! I REALLY REALLY REALLY love the cloud picture! I love clouds and since it looks like Mickey, it's even better! That is totally awesome! Oh, I love the food pictures! I was telling my DH last night we should have taken more food pictures. It never really crossed our minds. Now it does and we want to do that next year. The food looks awesome! We had lunch in Canada and was disappointed but I think it was because we had a sandwich. I think if we had gotten a steak it would have been much better. I love steak! I love prime rib!

I can't wait to read more!

Day 4

August 4, 2009

Since we hadn't ridden Soarin yet, and this is my husband's favorite ride we started off at Epcot right away. The line wasn't terribly long so there was no need to do the fast pass. And this is were is gets interesting: While waiting they asked if there was a party of three, we of course said we were a party of two, and the gentlemen behind us said he was flying solo so if we wouldn't mind-which we didn't-we soon became a party of three. So we were brought up early, and while we waited began talking to the gentlemen..well to make a long story short, it turned out he was from the same neighborhood that we are from.

IMG_2063.jpg

Proving that it really is a small world after all.

After the cool experience, I wanted to go to Belle's Library and it turned out that I hit it just at the right time for both Aurora and Belle were there. So I jumped in the short line and met the princesses.

IMG_2082.jpg

IMG_2081.jpg

Had lunch at the Electrical Umbrella. Which turns out is a really great quick service place if your looking for one. The food was a large portion and neither Andy or myself could finish them.

We hitched a ride on monorail and went to check out Bay Lake towers since this was opening day of them. I will say, the place is a lot nicer in person than it was in pictures...we were able to sneak on a tour of the grounds which was a nice break from the heat in the middle of the day.

After some rest, we hit up Magic Kingdom, where we did POTC and the updated Presidents. The update is incredible. We loved it.

We had dinner reservations at the Liberty Tree but still had plenty of time so we walked through Main St, and caught the parade just as it began before hitting up the train and taking a leisurely ride around the park.

IMG_2101.jpg

Had dinner at LT. Again this is one of our favorites, even without the characters. Mainly cus of the turkey. There is only so much fish and chicken grilled I can stand....

IMG_2116.jpg

Andys dinner

IMG_2115.jpg

My dinner. The patatos were made without milk..

To top off the night we rode Jungle Cruise and had a fabulous time, our guide was hilarious.

On a side note Magic Kingdom seemed really packed for some reason.

Day 5

August 5. 2009

By this time, we have been five days without our son and were missing him terribly. We had been trying to get a hold of my parents all week but had kept playing phone tag....

we missed our little Logan..and since he didn't come here are a few photos of him:

IMG_1855.jpg

IMG_1748.jpg

We took today really slow. We went to Hollywood studios and fast passed TSM before checking out the Muppets which I hadn't seen in years. Rode TSM then checked out the American Idol Experience, the guy I voted for one the round. I actually really enjoyed myself.

IMG_2128.jpg

We went to ride RNRC and got under cover just in time for it to rain!

IMG_2134.jpg

We decided to come back to OKW and sit around until dinner at Olivia's. Ww enjoyed the place a lot. Fun times.

IMG_2137.jpg

Andys bread

IMG_2136.jpg

My Tapioca (sp?) rice bread.

and now I can say I am a published artist!

IMG_2138.jpg

We spent the remainder of the night, at DTD where we watched an incredible sunset from the boat ride!
