I just returned from a wonderful week down at the happiest place on Earth. So let it begin.
Who we are:
Andy-My DH 31 yr old. Graphic Artist. Hated Disney with a passion until our honeymoon and now is just much of a Disney freak as myself.
Aleisha-Me. 29 yr old. Staffing Assistant. Been a Disney freak for most of my life. I am also allergic to Beef, pork and dairy which means a lot of my food reports will be totally different.
We live in the DC area, about 25 minutes outside of it to be in fact, and head down to the world at least once a year.
There is another player in here, we have a six month old son, Logan. We originally planned on taking him, but my mom and dad offered to watch him while we were down.
Day 1:
August. 1. 2009
We were at Dulles International airport at five in the morning, for our originally scheduled 7:40 am flight. Grabbed a bagel and a soda and sat there waiting. Now let me say, when we booked the flight, we were thinking great, we can get down there early, enough our day and not have to worry about anything. But after sitting on the plane for an hour after we were supposed to take off we were seriously doubting the whole thing. Apparently they had some issues with the plane and couldn't decide if they were going to need a new plane. Lucky for us, it all turned out well and we were on our way an hour later than usual.
Hit up the ME and for the first time, was able to sit right up front so that I could watch as we passed through the Golden Sign we all love. Let me tell you, I don't know who was more excited. Myself or the five year old across from us.
We got to Old Key West and checked in, using online check in. What an easy process, dif. reccomend it if you get a chance. We found that our room wasn't ready yet so we went down to DTD while we waited. Did some minor shopping knowing that we would be there for the entire week. When we got the text, that our room was ready we headed back to check out the room, before hitting up Poly for dinner that night.
We had reservations for 'OHannas that evening. Once again, we love this place. Plenty for us to eat, though there were a few mixups with my allergies but it was quickly fixed. While we were eating, there was a family beside us that let their kid watch a portable DVD player the entire time they were eating, which we thought was sort of strange. We think he may have had Autisim or something but weren't sure.
Some food sample:
Noodles.
My husbands Hawaiian Bread.
On to Magic Kingdom where we road Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain. The last time we were in Disney, I was pregnant and Big Thunder had been down so it was a double pleaure for both my husband and I to actually be riding it once again. While I enjoyed being pregnant down in the world, it made riding the rides that much more enjoyable this go around. You forget how much you love them until you can't ride them.
By this point it was late, and we had been up since four in the morning, and while wanted to do a lot more, exhaustion ruled out and we headed back to OKW to take a much needed sleep before we hit the parks hard the following day.
Day two to come...
