Looks really nice! Morgan Freeman is excellent, as we all thought he would be, and the new overall story of the show is good, much better than the heavy Civil War emphasis of before. Appears to be a sucessful refurbishment! :)

I was impressed to see quite a few elements of the original HoP show return to this version. The decision to use the old Royal Dano recordings as Lincoln was brilliant (and how they kept his recording of the Gettysburg Address secret and locked up in the Disney vaults all these years is one of the most surprising things of this refurb!)

I think they did an amazing job telling the story of the presidency while, for the most part, avoiding politics and controversy. I noticed they fairly divided speaking roles between Republicans and Democrats. (The only awkward moment is how they cut the final line of W's "and the people who knocked down these buildings will hear all of us soon". It was certainly appropriate to cut given the tone of the show, but it is abrupt nonetheless.)

After seeing how the final product is light-years ahead of the previous version, I came to appreciate Disney's most brilliant decision of this refurb---- closing it down one week before Election Day. That should blunt certain criticism that this new version is too much of an Obama love-fest and was done only because of him (although I still wonder whether this expensive rehab would have been in Disney's best financial interests if a less-than-rock-star-status candidate had won).

I love the video and I love this new version. 400% better than what it replaced.

Still, "Battle" is the best ending song IMO, especially the original recording.

But I can live with "America the Beautiful".

Here are a couple of stills taken during today's AP preview to add to the video that's now been posted.

Note for any purists who question taking photos when they asked us not to. I actually saw the show twice today. Early in the day it was operating in AP Preview mode where you had to show your pass to get in and they made a broad range of announcements about no photos or video of any kind because it was a preview. I followed those requests and did not photograph.

Later in the day the attraction was operating in normal, open for all guests mode and the message changed to the normal no flash photography and no video lighting. There was a distinct change in the messaging both in the lobby before entry and in the introductory spiel. I took the photos during the second performance that I saw.

^ Great pictures.

I'd also like to add that the new effect at the end of the American flag annoys me. I much prefer the old sky becoming the American flag effect vs. a literal projection of one. That would be my only tweak to the show.

Totally agree, the blatant flag wave makes it too obvious and borderline cheesy. It seems more befitting the Colbert Report and less HOP. (Don't misunderstand, it's still great but the old way was classier.)

That and returning Battle Hymn to the end would do it for me.

Just finnished watching the videos, I'm VERY impressed. Well done! As said by everyone else, Morgan Freeman was perfect as narrator, I'm so glad they went for David Morse as the voice of Washington he's fantastic, and the Obamabot is terriffic.

Finally a referb I'm perfectly happy with! :sohappy:

Oh, and I do long for the days when people actually had to GO and EXPERIENCE the parks and attractions for themselves instead of watching them online.

There's nothing wrong with viewing it online IMHO, it's not even close to being there in person. What problem do you have with online attraction videos '74?

Well, I don't have a 'problem' per se ... provided no one is taping in my show. Most of the time it is rude and disruptive. Kind of like the constant flashes I seem to get on every ride on PoC and Nemo (the two worst at WDW!)

But I think mystery is a good thing. I personally will never watch video of anything I'm going to experience or even think I might ... even if it's years away.

To me, it's akin to skipping to the last chapter of a book. ... But I am OLD!

I understand your point and I agree flash and bright external lighting is often highly irritating. (I could create a whole 'nother thread about my pet peeves with cameras on attractions.) I usually like to give the benefit of the doubt to the videographers and figure that if they really are disney fans, they know "the code" although, I guess they're more like guidelines.

It depends for me on what the attraction is; for things like EE and HM's refurb I try to avoid the videos but for attractions like this watching a video really won't change my excitement about it. I know my logic with this is a little absurd but, it works for me.

And I have yet to enjoy Nemo flash free. What makes people think that flashing (of any kind:eek:) your way through a dark ride is wise or okay?:dazzle:

Well said on the whole flash point. It is horribly rude and just ruins the feel Disney worked so hard to create. However, I will disagree and say that it can be fun to watch a ride video when you are not going to Disney in a long time. (but that is just because I am impatient.)
