Here are a couple of stills taken during today's AP preview to add to the video that's now been posted.

Note for any purists who question taking photos when they asked us not to. I actually saw the show twice today. Early in the day it was operating in AP Preview mode where you had to show your pass to get in and they made a broad range of announcements about no photos or video of any kind because it was a preview. I followed those requests and did not photograph.

Later in the day the attraction was operating in normal, open for all guests mode and the message changed to the normal no flash photography and no video lighting. There was a distinct change in the messaging both in the lobby before entry and in the introductory spiel. I took the photos during the second performance that I saw.
Looks fantastic!:D:wave:

Washington looks a little chubby, though.:lookaroun
Oh, and I do long for the days when people actually had to GO and EXPERIENCE the parks and attractions for themselves instead of watching them online.
I never watch a show before I see it in the park. I do tease myself with a min or so, though.

Or you could just ask your U.S. Historian friend.

The Battle Hymm of the Republic is indeed associated with the Civil War. The melody was taken from the original song "John Brown's Body".

The lyrics come from the poem written by Julia Ward Howe at the Willard hotel after visiting a Union camp in 1861.

Okay, I am done showing off.

Oh no, i did all about that stuff

Like how they were not really referencing the abolitionist at the camp but merely poking fun at coincidentally another John Brown. Haha I knew all that. But what I meant in more current times in the political sense.
I had read that the tune was used as almost as an unofficial offical tune of the GOP as FDR's campaign song "the Good times are here Again" as i believed it is called is used by the Dems.

I certainly don't want to argue and i may be wrong. Though I'm pretty sure I am right haha. :lookaroun

That is really encouraging! One more question. I heard the Washington speech is very good and that David Morse did a great job with it. How did that work within the overall presentation?

The Washington role was great because it took advantage of the complete fantasy of the presentation. Washington sets up the current President of the United States by talking about the oath of office, and then we hear Obama take it. Only after this moment does Morgan Freeman finally announce Barack Obama. This type of interaction between Presidents has never been done in the show before, and was really great to see.

I agree with what others are saying about the flag waving. And like I said before, Obama's speech wasn't that memorable, but that's probably because I'm used to hearing him talk so much and there's a lot to compare it with. Still, very minor nitpicks in an overall amazing refurbishment. Unfortunately for me, the three parts of the American Adventure montage that choke me up (JFK's death, the Challenger, and the WTC) are included in this new show, so once again I found myself very emotional.

Anyway, it sounds INCREDIBLY well done. I love it.

One more question, though....How are JFK's death, Challenger and WTC in the new HoP?

He doesn't botch it at all. lol I'm sure Disney didn't plan on that happening when they wrote the show.

After talking about JFK, Morgan Freeman mentions how some Presidents have a way of saying what we all feel in our hearts, particularly in times of tragedy. This is followed by Lyndon Johnson talking about Kennedy while images of Kennedy and the eternal flame are shown. Then they show the Challenger crew as Ronald Reagan reads his great speech about them touching the face of God. They then have Clinton talking about the Oklahoma City Bombing, and have an image of him standing over a grave. Finally, they have Bush making his speech about 9/11 at Ground Zero.
Then something inspiring is said, followed by the Space Shuttle launch with a quote from Ronald Reagan (I think), and the parting of the screen to reveal the Presidents.

The more I hear about these changes, the more I think they have actually improved this show and have made it the best version of the attraction. How often have we been able to say that recently? I'm looking forward to this just as much as I am seeing the Space Mountain changes next year.

Are you one of those people that miss the original Universe Of Energy? Then you'll love how they digitally restored and reused the finale film of the Universe of Energy (1982) with Space Shuttle Columbia blasting off into space with Reagan's eloquent "nothing ends here..." It's superb. :sohappy:

What is now the current (4th incarnation of the HoP) is without a doubt my favorite version of the show. It is also the only version of the show to get me choked up.

Hey Disney....go refurb the Carousel of Progress now...k?

Oh my gosh I thought it might be! I knew that the shuttle launch was in Universe of Energy, but didn't know if it was the same footage. I knew it wasn't the launch from Horizons because that one was from a different angle. Just like Universe of Energy, the screen lifts up as the shuttle launches. Truly awesome.

If they refurb CoP, they need to rethink it just like they've done to Hall of Presidents. Redo the scenes so they are 1900, 1940, 1980, and the near future. That way it won't feel so weird when we jump ahead 60 years.

Yes, CoP needs to be turned over to the same folks who did the HoP refurb.

I saw the HoP presentation on line. It is improved by leaps and bounds. The animatronics are amazing. There are some things I'd have liked emphasized more but only because of personal opinion.

Connundrum nailed it! Liberty Square attractions are as good as could be expected and now hopefully the quality will spread across the entire MK over the next 2 years.

Great point guys. They've been perfect on the changes made to Liberty Square recently. With the Pilgrim's Feast at the Liberty Tree Tavern being the best meal in the park, IMO, LS is right up there with Frontierland as being best in the park for me.

Can someone please tell me what all the recent changes to Liberty Square area are, please? I'm going down in August, and I'd like to pay attention to the detail. Thanks.

I'm resisting. I've only seen a few secs of Lincoln.:D

Nope, not next week. Hopefully Mid August, but nothing is official.

Oh. Well, I think you will regret watching it if you do but I understand your dilemma. I still think you will be better off waiting. It was obvious to me this is something best experienced as part of an audience.

Liberty Square is back!
