The cleared area east should be more surface parking. Cast will park here and to the south.

Once these lots are full you can bet the park will be too.

Remember, the garages were primarily for when SWL was going to swallow 1/4 of the available parking area.
Are they sounding for sinkholes before they start these projects?

Well, I'm caught up... and there wasn't really a whole lot to catch up on.

I'm still hoping and praying that TGMR gets some sort of hold on it's internal demolition so I can ride it one last time in November :(
Is there a date for closure yet? Hope it's still there in December!

August. Late-ish, maybe, timetables can slip. Not officially announced yet, but D23 is coming up soon. They want to get it done while they have construction back lot access while SWL is being built.
Do you think they will give a definite date at D23? Maybe they will keep pushing off the closing like they did with DisneyQuest (I hope, I hope).

As always subject to change. But that's the last I heard. I hope I'm wrong otherwise I'll have had my last ride.
Hey Marni...is there any idea as to what the park icon will be after this opens? Is the Tower of Terror remaining the icon, will it become the Chinese Theater, or will it become something else entirely? This park is such a mess

Not planning a trip until 2018 unless I win a lottery. It is so hard for me to think that GMR will no longer be there. We rode it twice on our last trip, ended up getting both sides and had never seen the Cowboy version before. We stayed at POP and met a GMR Cast Member who was there with family in the smoking section (we no longer smoke though) and he told us a lot about the ride and CM practical jokes. It was fun. I actually rode it when it brand new and loved it. It made so much sense then when the park was actually a working studio. Later, it still made sense but less so. I don't know what the new focus of the PFKADMGS and DHS will be but it will never be the inspiration to people like my daughter to go into animation after high school. One trip to WDW, and she was inspired.

That was when Animation Studio WAS an animation studio. That was when the Backlot Tour gave kids the scope of cinematic technology .It was actually "Magical" for my family. Now...it is a venue for a few good rides and shows with no cohesion. Whatever. I will plan accordingly.

It has to be the worst Disney park in the world at this time. Ridiculous they are charging full price.
Agree on charging full price, not worse park though. Hollywood Studios has many issues and a severe identity crises for one that is over 25. Yet, even with its flaws it still nudges out Walt Disney Studios Paris. (Which Paris has some real jewels). For one the place making of Hollywood and Sundey BLVD. are top notch as well as the streetmosphere being some of Disney's best. The original Tower of Terror far surpasses the others and Great Movie Ride (while it lives) is a classic. Not to mention Fantasmic! Is still a quality nighttime spectacular with the Star Wars spectacular to boot. The park has much work to be done but I wouldnt call it the worse. Worse of the parks in Walt Disney World, yea.

Not buying this one. If ToT is safe due to capacity concerns, I don't see them closing this before Toy Story and Star Wars opens. Has it even been three years yet?
i feel like they would redo it after toy story maybe 2020? theres a lot of things going on in MGM i can't imagine the money situation. lol
