Disney Bus Involed in Fatal Crash This Evening

no.. from all the reports, it sounds like the bus 'ate' the car... really tragic... I always think to myself when I see an accident or something bad on property... 'these people were here to have fun, and now look what happened!'

I agree. One thinks of WDW as a magical place but then accidents happen. It's sad whether it's a CM or a guest. A life is a life and whether the person who's life was cut short was at fault or not it's still a person with a mother, father, perhaps siblings, children, or a spouse. It's a person who grew up, worked, loved, and lived and now they are no longer. It's still sad. Each and every one of us makes mistakes while driving. We're human and that's our nature. Sometimes we make a little 'oops' and just get beeped at or a finger-salute. Sometimes nobody notices. Sometimes a fender-bender occurs and sometimes people are hurt or killed. The point is that we all do make mistakes so don't ever think that person can't be you. It very well could whether it's your mistake or not.

I'm glad the bus passengers were okay. My sincerest condolences to the family & friends of the victim in this accident.

People drive really fast around there. If you're only doing 10 over the speed limit you're sure to have a car right up your butt

Worst turn I've seen at WDW: left turn from World Drive to International Drive.

The signs above and in front all indicate that the left lane is for turning left. So, it seems like *everyone* gets in the left lane about 20 feet too early, at a U-turn area, not realizing there is another island in front of them (in front of which is the real left turn area). On my last trip, I saw at least 3 cars on different nights with the cars partially or totally on that island, with flat tires, ruined axles, etc.

I wonder if there was ever any thought to putting a sign on that island to keep people from running over it? Or perhaps someone ran over it, and no one thought to replace it?

Do you mean World Center Drive and International Drive?

I must say Florida drivers drive like nuts!!! I live part time in Orlando and even when im not near Disney and im just out and about people cut across 3 lanes of traffic with out looking. Make left turns from the right lane don't even think of using turn signals. I have seen more cars flipped over on their roof's in a few months in Florida than i have in my entire life in Pennsylvania!
I know around Disney property it's the tourists un familar with the area driving like nuts but how do you explain it in other areas like Altamonmte,Casselberry,Winter Park....
All that being said i pray for the people involved and their families.

I've got to agree - I drive everywhere since I am terrified to fly. I don't know if it's locals or tourists, but I've seen some crazy driving maneuvers in Florida. There's always someone tailing us, or cutting around lanes. Just leaving the state last time, we were in tons of traffic twice because of 2 different accidents. It just feels like everyone is in such a hurry. Maybe to get to WDW?

This accident is very sad - I too pray for the families involved. :(

How sad. I must admit, I do get nervous with the buses...sometimes they drive them like they're Corvettes!

Makes me want to ride the monorail more...
oh what am I saying... I ALWAYS want to ride the monorail!

The absolutely WORST thing has got to be when a car makes the u-turn to 'return to the magic kingdom' while exiting the parking lot (just before the toll booths) and cuts ALL THE WAY ACROSS ALL LANES OF TRAFFIC to get to world drive north and go towards the contemporary!! they drive across **12** lanes of oncoming traffic to get there... For the love of god.. thats an accident waiting to happen..

saw an SUV and a motocycle do it this past weekend..... morons!:king::hammer:

Maybe they were paracticing for the Lights Mortors Action stunt show :ROFLOL:

"People" are terrible drivers. Location has nothing to do with it.

The funny thing is, on almost all surveys anywhere from 30 to 40 percent of all people say they are "better than average" drivers. 25 percent say they are average and only about 5 say they are less than average

Most people think they are great drivers. Most people who think that way are the ones that tend to get into accidents (because they "know what they are doing")

My wife and I were heading to the Polynesian when this occurred. A Disney security vehicle flew by us with sirens going. By the time we got to the light they were diverting everyone away. We figured something was up but did not know what. I am sorry to hear about this. So sad.
