Deluxe Resort or more Days

If you had a specific amount of money set aside for your Disney trip ( not including spending money) would you opt to stay at a nicer resort but less days or opt to stay more days at lesser resort?:poly for 5 days or Pop Century for 10 say.

Tough question. In all candor. I would probably delay the trip whatever amount of time it took to save for a deluxe for the longer time frame. What can I say. I like the deluxe resorts. We also don't do the Parks for 13 hours a day. We enjoy a lot of the amenities of the resorts we stay at. Its not just a place to sleep for us.

It depends...(how's that for a definite answer!) If it is a small group, and you aren't planning on hanging out at your resort too much, go value, and more days. If you are traveling with your family of four, which includes a growing 12 Yr old, and you need a tiny bit more space. Go Mod. If you want to spend some quality time at your hotel, go deluxe. Personally, we always opt for a few more days at a mod. We figure if we wanted to hang out at a hotel, we don't need to go all the way to WDW for that. We're there for the parks!

Personally, I would do the Deluxe Resort. But that is because my DH and I love staying at the Deluxe Resorts and we try to get to the World every year. If you go often to the World, then I would recommend staying at the Poly. If you don't get to the World very often, and this will be your last trip for awhile, then I would take more days so you make sure to see and do everything that you want to see. Enjoy your trip and happy planning!

I would stay longer at Pop if I couldn't find good deals at the moderate and deluxe price point. But Poly is one of the most expensive deluxes. You must be wanting it for the closeness to Magic Kingdom. It's usually 3 times the price of Pop, or Pop is getting filled up and going into the $180 range! I'm more of a Beach Club / EPCOT guy -- I always see it cheaper. Check the villas too.

More days at the Pop, or split the difference with a Moderate. There is so much to see and do at Disney World that you could fill every day and not do it all.

If I only had 5 days I wouldn't be able to enjoy the hotel at all because I'd be spending every waking moment out at parks & Downtown Disney, restaurants, etc. trying to cram it all in.

More days. Just think how much you'll actually spend in the hotel room. Unless you're going to spend a whole day of your trip in your room, then no, its not worth it. Tack on the extra day and have fun experiencing what the World has to offer.

I would split the differnce and do a mod for 7 or 8 days!!! I think 5 days would be to rushed of a trip.

I would do the same. I always do around a 5 day trip now because that is all the points that I have for my DVC membership. A 7 day trip is much nicer than a 5 day and they are still nice resorts.

I thnk its all up to what you want to do. We have done both and haven't regreted either. Is this your first trip? Then go for a longer stay...but if you have been going for years, and are ok with a five day, then treat yourself to a nice resort and enjoy it.

I definitely stay longer... We stayed at AKL this past December for 10 days and honestly, yes I loved the resort but we there so little that I could have kicked myself thinking the amount of $$$ we could have saved by not staying at a deluxe resort. When I can home, I did the math and we seriously could have stayed at a value for more then 2 weeks and would have still spent less then our 10 days at AKL!

Poly for 5 or POP for 10..gotta go for the longer time frame in Disney. My vote is 10 at POP. :)

Does the difference really = double? That includes the extra food/drinks, t-shirts, Pins etc that would be purchased over the additional 5 days?:drevil:

How often do you go to WDW? We've gone so frequently that I would honestly choose the Deluxe resort and the shorter stay just for a change of pace. In the past 2 years we've stayed at POP Century, PO French Quarter, PO Riverside, Coronado Springs, Caribbean Beach and an off-site rental home. I'd do a Deluxe on the monorail or one of the EPCOT resorts.

If this is a first or you go very rarely, I would choose the longer stay at POP.

More days. If you are mainly at the parks everyday, there is no point of waisting your money on a deluxe resort (unless you have the money). I love WDW, and I try to stay at WDW as long as I can. This is why I stay at the value resorts and the campground.
