Deluxe Resort or more Days

If you had a specific amount of money set aside for your Disney trip ( not including spending money) would you opt to stay at a nicer resort but less days or opt to stay more days at lesser resort?:poly for 5 days or Pop Century for 10 say.

Personally, I would do the Deluxe Resort. But that is because my DH and I love staying at the Deluxe Resorts and we try to get to the World every year. If you go often to the World, then I would recommend staying at the Poly. If you don't get to the World very often, and this will be your last trip for awhile, then I would take more days so you make sure to see and do everything that you want to see. Enjoy your trip and happy planning!

When we go, which is roughly once a year or so, we also stay at a Deluxe. We usually stay at the Boardwalk and I know everyone generally says they don't care because they don't spend much time in their rooms anyways, which has some merit I admit, I will tell you the convenience of staying within walking distance of two of the parks is worth the price of the rooms. It opens up so many opportunities for park hopping, refreshing, etc.

All of that is to say, I'd say deluxe, Epcot resort. Or, if you spend a lot of time in MK, one of those resorts. Convenience trumps everything. Time is money after all!

Buy an annual pass and travel during off-peak seasons - the extra $200 on the annual pass will be offset by staying at a deluxe resort for a moderate resort price if you travel during the good annual pass discount periods, you should recoup the extra ticket price with one or two nights of hotel discount savings.

If I had a choice between staying for 5 days at a deluxe resort and staying for 10 days at a value resort I would definately pick the value resort! I would absolutely pick more days over a deluxe resort every time. I do not spend a whole lot of my time in my hotel, so spending a small fortune on a hotel room makes no sense to me. Technically I am only in my hotel room from 10-11pm til 7am the next day....then it is get up take a shower, go to the dining area for a quick breakfast, and head straight to the bus stop to go to the parks...stay in the parks until aroound 10 or 11pm, go back to my hotel room and repeat. Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against the deluxe resorts. I think they are great....but would a choose more days at Disney World? HECK YES!!!

Does it have to be Poly? There are other deluxes that are very nice, not as expensive as Poly (Wilderness & Animal Kingdom Lodge come to mind), you may be able to squeeze at least a 6 day trip by opting for one of those.

The Catch-22 for me in your scenario would be, I really don't like the Values. They're cute and kitschy and all that, and I understand their appeal. But I don't like their size, I don't like their lack of amenities. I enjoy spending time enjoying what a resort has to offer. But if I only had a 5 day trip, I'd probably wind up being a park commando to enjoy the parks, affording me little time to lounge at the resort. Which is why I'd first price out Wilderness and/or Animal Kingdom Lodge. If they were not feasible, I'd probably either drop to a moderate, or Swan or Dolphin. Sure S&D don't have the Disney charm so many of us love, but the price and location are both great.
